  • As the title says, Do you think that some pokemon have height problems? Such as height in the Pokedex entries as compared to what they are about in the anime.
For example, let's see Infernape. In the anime it's about as same as Ash and just look at it's Pokedex entry. It's 3"3" which is even smaller than a 10 year old child! And just compare it to Feraligatr which is 7"7"! So you have to post your opinion on Pokemon heights.

  • Voltorb.

His pokedex entry says that he's 1'08" but yet, it also says 'Usually found in power plants. Easily mistaken for a Poké Ball, it has zapped many people.'

How can something that is THAT tall can be easily mistaken for a pokeball? Did I miss on some new Pokeball design that are now huge?

  • Infernape is 3"11. And I think this is assuming its crouching pose, not its erect pose. And I don't get how Sawsbuck can be 6 and a half feet tall, unless there are real life deer out there that share the same height.

  • Excadrill's size surprises me the most, because I thought he's between 4-5 ft tall due to his sprite, but he's actually smaller than that.

The heights in the Pokedex info are just averages. They have three minor games where you catch certain fish and the fisherman will see how long they are. Two are Magikarp games and the last is a Barboach game.

So the Pokedex ones are more guideline averages.

(Also after Ash caught Krabby, his Krabby was shown next to Gary's and Gary's was like 3 times larger)

  • There are definately a lot of disconnect between what we would expect, and the listed height in the Pokédex. It's even worse in HGSS with the walking Pokémon.

I'm guessing that the height ranges that are listed in the pokedex are just averages. That doesn't necessarily mean that EVERY pokémon of a species is the same exact height. It's just a general stat.

To stay with the OP's example I'm sure there are some Infernapes that are taller than most while others may be shorter.

EDIT: XanderO beat me to it.

Indeed I always imagined the stated heights and weights in the Pokédex to be mere averages and don't really represent that species as a whole. I have seen too little of the anime to make an accurate judgement based on that, though I do have a problem with how heights would work ingame; for example Wailord is supposedly around 15 metres long and if the ceiling of a building isn't that high and the space between walls isn't that wide then how should it be able to be used in battle? Also why is it always *height* that is mentioned in the PokéDex? Why not something like average length for Pokémon like Serperior and Wailord? I mean, things like that aren't one-dimensional >.<
