When you first start a website that you are going to work hard on do you buy a domain name? I just bought my first domain because the forum I'm making I'm working very hard on it and decided I can spend the 10 dollars or less for a domain name. I know that you get better results on Google if you have a high-end domain name. It also shows users that you're professional and you're willing to spend money on the forum.

I would like to know that the topic has the ability to give good discussions. I also wouldn't spend money on a domain for a Pokemon forum because there are so many good ones that users can go to. But for something like a troll free minecraft forum, then yes. Because that has potential.

No! I don't usually buy a domain and use co.cc. But if it's real good forum that I want to get a lot of members I will.

I got mine for under $10 so that's a good deal for me.

Sorry for avoiding the questions, but it's a no, so they don't apply. I do/have administrate certain domains, though.

I'm tempted to buy my name for safe keeping and so I can have [email protected]. Will work out $15 a year...

That was my initial plan, but mysurname.com is taken, as is .com.au, .net, .net.au, bla bla. There's a few strange ones, but they're mostly strange country codes. It's not exactly a common name.

I guess I could go org.au, lol. Defeats the simplicity, though.

A few. Probably something like 6? If I'd had my paypal before the age of 16, though, I bet this number would be in the 20s. <_<;

:D I've had more domain names for no purpose than domain names for a reason, if that answers the question. Though typically I do suggest people have some sort of userbase before springing on a domain name if they're unsure. I just never follow my own advice.

I... do my absolute best to just stick to subdomains now, especially since I can count the number of websites I own on one hand these days. ._.;

Three, I think? shouki.com, lightningism.com, and cherr.im. Oh and maybe marluxia.org. I forget if I let that one expire. The first one is just a generic domain I've had for yeaaars and can't bring myself to give up, the second is obvious if you've known me a while, the third is obvious if you know me now, and the last one that I may-or-may not have... idk. I like it.
What type of domain do you prefer?
:x I like my .im domain the best of all of them but I used to looove any .nu domain, though I never owned one. Otherwise .com is the most professional-looking and easiest to remember so I'd have to go with that.
What is a good price for a .com domain?
~$8? I think that's about what I pay for mine a year.

By the sound of it....it seems like you are using a free webs or wordpress.

I have had several domains and they were all fresh so I didn't know how many visitors they would get.

And yes, I don't consider it a website without a custom domain.

.com .net and .org are good.

Kinda depends really, I'd expect something like faceboook.com would cost more than omglookatthisdomainname.com

I have only one site that's received more than 100 views so I would say no.

I normally do. Most of my websites have been for failed IRC networks so the domain goes hand in hand with the network.
