• The year is 2009 A.D. Existing in our world is a videogame called Pokemon. Many children and adults know about this game, and many still play it. There are four known regions in the world of pokemon that make up the main series. Among them are Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh. The players who have gone through the game know that it would be awesome to be a pokemon trainer. Many have dreamed it, only to realize it would be a wish that would never come true. Lately though, avid pokemon fans have been disappearing, never to return. Their game is found open, and the place they were sitting, severely burned.
What no one realized is that the trainers' wishes were coming true. When they played their game and once again wished to be a trainer, an external force interfered, literally sending them to the world of Pokemon. They arrived in Twinleaf town, unsure of how they got there. All of them reacted differently. Many of the younger children cried, eager to get home. Some of the Adolescents counted their highly unlikely blessings and began their journey. All of the Rebels were glad to be separated from the other societies. Most of the adults went crazy. But a few of every group wants to go home. Those few are willing to stop at nothing to get home. But to do that, they'll need a pokemon.

You are one of these trainers. It is your mission to return to your home safe and sound. While you may have a lot of experience in the games, this is no game. You and a large group of other trainers have decided to begin your journey home. You will all choose a pokemon from Professor Rowan to assist you on your journey. You may choose to travel with a partner or two, but the group has decided the more spread out they are, the more Intel they can obtain. The Group has decided that they need to meet in every town, and show their findings to each other. So make sure to stop by the pokemon center in every town and check in with your teammates for information.
It has been decided that the Elite four will be an important resource in this mission, so all of you must strive to reach them.
I wish you good luck in this journey, and hope you return home soon.

• Name: Dante Gallo

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Description: Dante has an Italian heritage that goes back for many generations. This shows in his light blue eyes, common in northern Italy, and his mocha complexion. As a result of the French influences in his genes, however, he was born with dark blonde hair. He dyes it a slightly deeper brown than his skin, as he does not like blonde hair. More than likely due to the fact that most male Gallos are extremely tall, he is of an impressive stature at six feet and six inches. Despite that and his fairly-muscled physique he does not look harmful, for there is a gentle undertone to his eyes. He is very meticulous about his appearance, believing a member of a family so dignified as the Gallo ought to reflect that pride. His hair, he keeps well-trimmed, the tips touching the base of his neck. He always wears clothes that match, even his socks and undergarments. His favorite way to dress is with slacks or dark jeans, a dress shirt, a vest, and a tie. That way, he feels as though he's remaining sophisticated without getting too posh. As an added note, his nails are always perfectly trimmed and he is never seen without a clean-shaven face.

Personality: Dante is a very calm, compassionate individual. It takes effort to ignite his temper, but once done the offender will be lucky to be seen or heard from again. He takes things seriously, perhaps too much so. Though he does know how to have fun when he deems it proper he has a hard time expanding his horizons to encompass the lighter side of life as well as the darkness he is sure lurks around every corner. Dante tends to be amiable, enjoying companionship from people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. The only sort he cannot stand is the pathetic. Those who whine, those who complain, and those who engage in self pity make him nauseous. If it says anything about him he is a cat person, not a dog person, preferring the nonchalant affection they offer to the more excitable adoration presented by a canine.

History: In 1957 his grandparents immigrated to the United States and settled in east Texas. They met little success when attempting to start a cattle ranch for beef and milk. Their son, however, offered the idea to sell the cattle and instead buy horses to breed for recreational animals. It was a risky venture but they decided to do so. By the time Raymond Gallo was twenty six he was living in an extra house built off of the original with the money produced from the instant success of the horse business. The endeavor had given Raymond enough confidence to decide to enter the world of race horses. He bought a stallion by the name of Brine and Dandy. He turned out not to be an instant winner, though he did receive a phone call from a young woman named Diana McNiel. She owned a young filly, and wanted to purchase Brine and Dandy's sire services. He agreed to meet with her the following day, and when he did it was instant chemistry. Their horses produced a foal they registered as Dandy Lion, who became a success when he was just two years old. To celebrate his win of the Kentucky Derby Diana and Raymond married, she twenty seven, and he twenty eight. A year later Dante was born. His parents loved him dearly, and bought him anything he desired, or anything they thought he desired.

By the time he was six he already had his own horse, dog, cat, and snake, whom he named Hoofs, Paws, Claws, and Scales, respectively. Only Hoofs is alive in present day, and is a black and white paint. With the release of Pokemon Blue and Red in 1998, Dante's addiction began. He received the both of them for his birthday, and by the time the month had passed had already leveled his monsters up to seventy and higher. He was rabid for the release of Gold and Silver in 1999, and beat both games soundly in the same fashion as he had their predecessors, ravenous for more. He passed completely on Yellow version, due to his complete and utter distaste for Pikachu. The electric rodent was certainly not a favorite to raise, seeing as he had been "lucky" and captured one in Viridian forest during his first time playing Blue. It had been such a failure as a Pokemon, especially an electric type, that he vowed not to use them anymore if he could help it, and capture them only for the completion of the in-game Pokedex.

At twelve, in 2003, Ruby and Sapphire were released. They proved to be his absolute favorites, due to the drastically improved graphics and the addition of Mightyena. The hyena-like Pokemon was without question his favorite, and a prominent member of his team in both games, as well as Emerald, when it was released. However, it was at that time that he began to realize boys his age shouldn't play Pokemon anymore. Others who were more vocal with their enjoyment of the franchise were teased in school, and Dante did not want to be teased in school. So he played in secrecy, without even his parents knowing. He would have preferred people to think he had a drug addiction than to know he still played that kid's game, but he still gleaned enjoyment from capturing, training, and battling with monsters inside his gaming systems.

Then, when he was fourteen, he was given news that his cousins were coming over, and would be staying in his room with him. Frantic to hide his guilty pleasure he stuffed his Gameboy Advance and Color, along with his six games, into a hiding place so brilliant, they would never find them.

...and neither would he. After they left he realized he did not remember where he had put them. His heart sank as he searched, but he was never able to uncover their whereabouts. So the games went to the back of his mind and he never thought about them again. That is, until five years later, when he was going through his room, packing to leave home. He had just turned nineteen, and after a year of post graduation relaxation he was off to college. Then he found them, stowed behind his dresser. Ecstatic, he found some new batteries, exchanged them, and popped Silver into the slot. He found it no longer worked, due to an internal battery problem he knew well enough. Gold offered the same result. Sapphire, however, started up perfectly and went to his character. He sat down on his bed, packing forgotten, and began to play.

RP sample: The sun shone brightly overhead, decorating a nearly blindingly blue sky. There was a hush in the air as Ethan left the house in the direction of the Laboratory. It took an astonishingly short time for him to reach it; the distance seemed to have been covered within a span of a single heartbeat. Even so, he did not question it. After all, today was going to be the day he received his very first Pokemon. It took some effort, as always, not to turn up his nose at the shabby building. But this time was different. This time, there was something truly fantastic, and his, inside.

He pushed the door open and was immediately greeted by a tall woman with long flowing blonde hair. Having never met Professor Rowan, Ethan just assumed that everyone else in the world was wrong, and the Professor was female. A very nice female, at that. Smiling widely with a vacuous expression she greeted him and handed him an Apri ball. He unscrewed the top knob and a ball of light flew out, hit the floor, and began to take form. Within moments the light expanded, growing taller and wider until it crashed through the ceiling. The ceiling then evaporated or disappeared in a similar manner. The light took on the appearance of wings, a long, spiked tail, and rows of protrusions along the back of the form. Then the light faded, leaving an abnormally large Lugia in its place.

"I knew it!" Ethan exclaimed. "I knew I would get something awesome."

At the sound of his voice the Lugia looked down and tilted its head, reminiscent of a pigeon. Then in one decisive movement it dipped its neck and swallowed him whole.

With a violent twitch Ethan awoke and promptly fell off of the bed. He jumped to his feet quickly with a glance around to make sure no one had seen that. Who would, considering it was his room and the door was shut, he didn't know. Perhaps the Glameow may have pushed the door open and waddled in, as the fat Pokemon often did. But she hadn't, and for that he was grateful.

Ethan's light grey eyes flitted to the analog alarm clock positioned on the table next to his generously sized bed. The angle of the hands told him it was nearly seven. On most days he wouldn't even consider beginning the day this early, but this was a special case. Not only was his shin smarting from his fall, but he would be receiving his first Pokemon today, thus the fantastic dream he'd been having. He truly hoped for something magnificent. Whatever it was, he knew he could make it the best battler ever born, worthy of belonging to a true Master.

A small smile curved his lips as he took a short and rushed shower so as to look presentable. He was a master at cleaning up his appearance, if only because he always wanted to outshine everyone in the room. He combed through his hair until it looked halfway decent and threw on a clean black shirt and pair of dark jeans, cinching a belt around the waist. He didn't have to look perfect, he knew, and he didn't want to, because it wasn't like training was going to be clean work. After slipping his feet into his favorite black and white shoes he was ready.

...or so he thought. Ethan was about to go out the front door when it occurred to him maybe he should go to breakfast so he could say goodbye properly and eat something before he left. He turned tail and entered the dining room, where his mother and father were both seated at the table, already eating breakfast.

"Good morning, dear," Mrs. Sarvois said affectionately. "You look simply dashing. Be sure and eat your fill, I don't want you to get hungry."

Ethan flashed a smile as he sat down and piled his plate high with bacon, scrambled eggs, waffles, hash browns, french toast, and two pieces of toast. Mrs. Sarvois had never really had to worry about Ethan eating too little. As a matter of fact, it was a wonder he wasn't four times as wide as he was. He supposed it was his young age and fast metabolism. Even so, she constantly agonized over whether or not he was getting too thin. She watched him now, making sure he was actually eating his mountain of nutrition instead of just pushing it about his plate to appease her.

It didn't take him long to finish the entire plate. When he did he wiped his lips with his napkin politely and glanced up, knowing he was not to leave until given permission by his father. Mr. Sarvois was a very strict man, and things were always done his way or not at all. It could be said Ethan had developed similar traits, but they were never present in front of his father.

When all plates were empty Mr. Sarvois nodded to his wife. Beaming, she reached under the table and produced a medium-sized pack, to be slung over his back, of grey and black material.

"We bought it for you last night, dear," she said happily as she passed it to Ethan. "It's got I don't even know how many pockets, so you can keep all your things nice and organized."

He turned the bag over in his hands, examining it happily to find that it was already full of clothes, food for both him and his Pokemon, and the necessities, such as a comb, antiperspirant, and medicines for whatever might ail him.

"Thank you," he said simply. He had never been one to partake in such niceties, but these were his parents, and not only did they expect it, but they deserved it.

Mr. Sarvois turned a stern eye upon him. "Now, listen, Ethan. I don't know what starter you're getting, they weren't able to tell me. But I expect you to bring pride to the Sarvois name, no matter what it is. Even if it's a Wurmple, I expect you to raise it to its full potential and eliminate anyone who stands in your way. It is how I got to the top, and it is how you shall do the same."

Perhaps for most young men, to hear a speech like that from their father would be upsetting, even disconcerting. But not to Ethan. That had been the nature of his relationship with Mr. Sarvois for his entire life, so it was normal.

"I will," he promised.

All that done, he was excused. He hugged his mother once more before leaving, with a promise to call as soon as he got to the Pokemon Center in the next town. His father shook his hand stiffly and wished him luck. With that he pulled the straps of the bag over his shoulders and made his way to the front door. The Glameow mewled up at him solemnly. Though he'd never liked her, he knelt down and pet her on the head a few times before he straightened up and stepped over the threshold, leaving the house, not to return for a time he could not determine. The thought was frightening, but exciting at the same time.

The trip to the Lab took longer than it had in his dream, naturally, though he did get there eventually. Stepping around cardboard boxes that littered the outside, Ethan pulled the creaky door open and entered the spacious first room. He cautiously inched inside further until he found a lab associate that pointed him in the correct direction. He then followed the path she described and found Professor Rowan at the end of it, as promised. Though he was not blonde or female, as he had dreamed, he seemed nice enough.

Ethan was greeted with enthusiasm. Slightly unnerved by meeting such a lax Professor, he waited until the introductions were over to ask, "What starter am I getting, exactly?"

With a laugh, Rowan led him to a row of red and white spherical objects. Ethan gave him a quizzical look, which only made him laugh again.

"These are Pokeballs," he explained. "Sort of a prototype for the next generation of Pokemon containment devices. They're a step up from Apriballs, though not as much is known about them and their weaknesses. They're also a slight bit larger. But they're much more convenient. Instead of having to screw a knob you just have to push this white button in the middle, and your Pokemon will be released."

Ethan nodded slowly, taking all of the information in and committing it to memory. "Alright. So which of them belongs to me?"

Rowan gestured at the balls with one hand. "Any of them. Just take one. To be fair, once you choose it you can't return it. It's sort of a Pokelottery, if you don't mind me saying."

Yes, Ethan did mind him saying. But he wasn't about to disrespect the man who was giving him a Pokemon for absolutely free. While money would not have been an issue, he certainly didn't mind getting things free of charge. So he examined the row carefully, noting that there was absolutely no hint as to what was inside any of the balls. Finally, after careful consideration, he reached out and took the one in the very middle.

His heart sank as he saw the name in the indention where the ball had been. "Caterpie?"

Rowan nodded, showing much more enthusiasm than he. "Yes, Caterpie, a larval-stage bug Pokemon. They usually don't seem like much, but you should never underestimate them. The greatest power often comes in the smallest, squishiest package."

Ethan was not convinced, but he knew there was no changing it. He had already chosen it; his only option, he thought, was to capture more Pokemon and raise them instead, and maybe give Caterpie to someone else.

Rowan interrupted his thoughts with more enthusiasm. "I see you're already packed. Here's a Pokedex to go with it. It'll help you record information on all of the Pokemon you meet. Just get close to the Pokemon and press the button here. A short description will scroll across the screen here."

He accepted the portable encyclopedia with a faint smile. Rowan then handed him five Pokeballs and shooed him out.

"Now go! Go make a name for yourself."

Taking that as a much-wanted opportunity to get away from the Professor in his shame, Ethan swiftly strode out of the lab and into the sunlight, ball clenched tightly in his hand. "Why you?" he growled audibly. As if on cue, there was a flash of red light and his new partner appeared on the ground in front of him. It looked up at him with large dark eyes and squeaked happily.

Deciding he might as well learn something about the useless creature, Ethan pointed the Pokedex at it and watched the words scroll across the screen.

'Caterpie, the Worm Pokemon,' they read. 'Its short feet are tipped with sticky pads that allow it to tirelessly climb slopes and walls. If you touch the feeler on top of its head it will release a horrible stink to protect itself.'

"Lovely. You're useless and you stink."

Instead of seeming offended, the Caterpie climbed up his pant leg and onto his shoulder, where it chirped happily on his shoulder. He glared at it from the corner of his eye. "What are you doing? Get off, you disgusting insect."

He swatted at it, but it dodged his every attempt, just moving from shoulder to shoulder as necessary. Frustrated, he gave up. "Fine. Stay there."

It seemed more than happy to do so as he started walking again. Instead of yelling at it some more, he remained silent, as did the Caterpie. He would find something better, he was sure of it. And he would make sure it wasn't a stupid bug. As he followed the road out of Sandgem he played with the Pokeball in his pocket, belonging to the Pokemon now perched on his shoulder. How had he managed to get the worst of them all, when he deserved the best of everything?

Pokemon

Breed: Poochyena

Nickname: Shetani (meaning she-demon)

Gender: Female

Description: The difference between Shetani and others of her kind is that her eyes are blue where others are red. The blue color is a result of a slight deficiency in her eyes, making it so that she can't see terribly far away, or right in front of her. Her tail is slightly longer as well. The lowest part of her black socks reaches the joints of her legs.

Personality: Shetani is extremely courageous, as many Poochyena are. When facing a foe she will not back down until they are cowering at her feet. At the same time she has a crippling fear of ghost Pokemon, despite the fact that she stands a fair chance against them, due to her type advantage. She tends to be sassy, often letting Dante know when she does not like something he is doing with a growl or nip.

Moveset: Tackle, Howl

Description: In a nutshell, one word describes him: green. He goes everywhere, dressed like a leprechaun. He wears a green top hat, a dazzling green shirt, and green pants, to cover his short, slender, and pale body. When not wearing this dazzling Irish outlet, for example, in formal situations, he wears a darker green dress suit, and also black pants. When not wearing a top hat, his hair is just dazzlingly bright and blonde. His blue eyes are wide and bright, as is his large mouth. The face is soft, and so is his flexible body.

May I join? This sounds like fun!

Name: Katie Willow
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Description: Katie has straight reddish-brown hair that falls down halfway down her back. She is about five feet tall and rather petite, with light-colored skin. Her eyes are a calm brown against a heart-shaped face. Normally she wears a red t-shirt under a black zip-up jacket against blue jeans. Katie wears red-white sneakers that are slightly tattered from use.

Personality: Katie is a rather odd individual. She usually speaks very little, watching from the sidelines, and there's always a distant gaze in her eyes. Truthfully though, she's a pretty friendly person, though shy. She is an excellent strategist. Katie is rather modest in truth, but can unconsciously take a leader's position when things get messy and can be relied on. She refuses to give up, even after she's already lost. Animals naturally like her, and as such, so do Pokemon.

History: Katie was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1994. Her mother is a psychologist and father an interior designer. Being a really shy person, she found it very difficult to make friends and usually played by herself and read books. At the age of five, her parents had a falling- out and divorced, causing her mother to divorce and move to Detroit, Michigan, taking Katie with her.

Her mother remarried and both her and Katie's new stepfather became incredibly busy. Being thrust into a new place with no one knowing her, she considered this a time to break out of her shell. Unfortunately this didn't go too well. Other children considered her fake and lying when she was trying to make friends. As such, she became more lonely than ever, her only friends being the few outcasts she met in at daycare.

At the age of ten, ironically, her mother gives her a Gameboy Advance system with a Pokemon Crystal version. The second she started the game, Katie was hooked. As soon as she told her classmates about it, she immediately began to belong. As the games continued to progress and when she went back to the old games, she continued to connect with people and considers the Pokemon franchise her key to friendship, causing her to wish deeply to go there.

Spoiler:

Pokemon:
Breed: Cyndaquil
Nickname: Rishi
Gender: Female
Description: Unlike others of its kind, the bluish fur on the top of its body and the red spots where the fire erupts are reversed in color. Even though her eyes are mostly closed, when they do open they are a deep blue. Like regular Cyndaquil, it has one claw on each hind leg and has milky-white fur on its underside.
Personality: Unlike Katie, Rishi is hyperactive and happy, rushing around and bouncing when she meets a new person. She is very affectionate and will nuzzle you until you pet her. In battle, Rishi is determined and reckless, willing to try anything to win, but luckily she almost always listens to Katie. She has a fear of high places and will hide in her Pokeball if she finds herself anywhere near one.

• Name Annamarie "Mini" Milar
Age 14
Gender female
Description Annamarie has her nickname for good reason - she really is mini. Standing at only 4' 8", and skinny, she lives up to her dubbing well. Her hair, however, does not fall under the same description, falling clear to her knees when down. Annamarie usually keeps her red-gold hair in one or two braids down her back so it "stays out of her face," but lets her bangs hang free into her light hazel eyes. Her preferred outfit consists of a very old pair of white (but now brown) sneakers, jeans with holes in the knees, a t-shirt (any slogan will do), and black fingerless gloves.

Annamarie's pale skin, despite almost excessive time in the sun, still sunburns easily and hasn't tanned yet, so, since she nearly always forgets about sunscreen, she always has sunburns on her nose, ears, and cheeks. She carries a messenger bag over one shoulder nearly all of the time. The bag is green camouflage and is usually in a better condition than the rest of her outfit because of its importance, although the entire bottom of the bag is covered in silver duct tape.

Annamarie's face has no particularly noticeable features, aside from a slightly overlarge nose. She also has a few scattered freckles and dimples. She has been fortunate to never have a problem with pimples like many of her peers, though she has always had freckles.

Personality Annamarie is cheerful, upbeat, innovative, and can't get a complete sentence out in the company of strangers. She is a very good listener, and will often compile an idea in her head before she speaks, if she does. Often in the past people have been scared away by her giddy smile before they got to know her. And before she spoke to them.

Annamarie is excessively loyal, one of those people who might actually jump off a cliff for someone, but she is also very wary of strangers. She does her best to protect her friends and family, but her size deters this slightly. She gets angry rarely to never at her friends, but when she feel the slightest threat to those she holds dear, she explodes.

Often overreacting to minor situations and forgetting important details, Annamarie is rash and annoying. Most of the time she has forgotten something incredibly important, and her family and friends are used to it. Fortunately, she does have some measure of common sense which she utilizes. However, it's usually disregarded when she's doing things.

Annamarie is, unfortunately, shockingly clumsy. She trips over her feet, she trips over air, and she trips over nonexistent objects. Frequently. She also has a tendency to drop things whenever she is carrying them.
History Annamarie grew up in a 'big happy family' sort of home. She was the second oldest of seven children, and all of the others are taller than she. Being the smallest, and neither the youngest nor the eldest, Annamarie never really knew any particular 'special privileges' that some of her siblings got, from her perspective. With so many children close to the same age in the same family, many had the same interests at the same times, which caused a lot of jealousy.

Because both of her parents worked most days, and her older brother moved out the moment he turned eighteen, Annamarie was left caring for her younger siblings quite frequently. However, being as there were five of them and only one of her, she tended to miss things (although she did that anyway). Because of this, and the nature of her siblings, she had enough crazy experiences for her to keep telling forever.

It was a sunny morning in spring, warm enough to walk down to the river in the nearby park and play with the tadpoles and crawdads. Of course all of the Milar children wanted to do this, as the birds who lived in their attic were making a shameless racket. There was a little stream not too long of a walk from the house that Annamarie could let her siblings play in without much fear, provided they didn't enter the forest, for bears and other potentially dangerous lived there.

Annamarie, ever notorious for forgetting things, forgot to leave a note for her parents saying where they were going, and of course this was the one day her littlest siblings would wander off without her knowing. Annamarie had fallen asleep by the pond, and was woken up by nothing less than an bear. She bolted up and ran towards the sound…to find the bear playing with her youngest siblings. They returned to that pond nearly every day that summer.

Annamarie always found the Pokemon video games to be a refuge from her hectic life and overactive younger siblings, and often daydreamed about it. Now, Annamarie is almost desperate to start her own journey, and she's going to, provided she doesn't land back in her own world any time soon.

Arena giggled again. Arena! Cut it out, a-hole!! she thought harshly. Oh well. She stuck the gum back into her purse and waited for Jasper. Forest. Bugs. *****es. Yuck. I hope we get to a town…way soon. Like, way, way soon. She used the toe of her gym shoe to kill an ant. Lucky break, stupid ant. Then she remembered her new shoes. She jogged back to where she had arrived and grabbed the shoebox. She looked back at Jasper. "OK, well, I guess I'm ready now." she said quietly. She returned to Jasper, walking slowly. "Alright. Since we don't have a choice…let's go." She jogged just back to the tree line, glanced over her shoulder towards Jasper, then bolted. He was cute, but he was creepy too. Seriously, random guy shows up in random clearing and claims he's from Cali? Yeah, and I'm president of the gullible club. She hoped he wouldn't follow her. He was so hot, though. Thinking about this distracted her, and Arena, well, she crashed in to a tree face first and whipped out her compact in under two seconds. No wonder her face hurt, Arena's face had taken nearly all of the damage from the impact. She dropped the compact and clutched her nose, hoping it wasn't really broken. "Jaaaaaasper!!!" she yelled, as loud as possible. Her ears hurt, too. Great damned timing, Arena. Sheesh.

-------
Yeah, Arena, um, swears. A lot. But it's a sample.
(Annamarie is nothing like Arena, but it was a post I really liked.)

• Name Lyle Thompson

Age 19

Gender Male

Description: Lyle has never really cared how he looked His mom thinks he's a slouch. "Why don't you do something else for a change besides playing 'poke-a-mon' all of the time". He felt that clothes were only meant for one purpose and one purpose only, to make you feel good. Thus, he tends to wear the basic blue jeans and a white tee. He wears white tennis shoes to go with the outfit. He has brown eyes and short black hair. His backpack is red with several pouches that he can use to carry various items, including his Nintendo DS, his Pokemon DP strategy guide and some pencils and paper for school.

Personality: Lyle has a very imaginative personality. During his time playing the Pokemon RPGs, he would always talk to his little pixel friends. He made it his duty to make a poffin each day for his six party Pokemon. He was very competitive when it came to battling others. He was also very generous while trading with others. He has to get his "Pokemon fix" each day whether it's playing Platinum for at least an hour, chatting on his favorite Pokemon forum or watching the anime. If he doesn't, he tends to be quite grumpy and not his usual self. He was always a strategy freak, using whatever Pokemon had the type advantage (who doesn't?)

History:Lyle was born to a somewhat privileged family. He was the only child. Both of his parents had jobs that prevented him from being home all of the time. They were, however, home during holidays and on weekends. He got a video game for Christmas one year and the rest was history. Since then, he made little contact with anyone or anything else. He was intent on completely beating every game he played. Unlocking all features, winning all achievements and trophies. He was so intent that he would actually lose time, thus causing problems with his social life and school work. However, his parents didn't do much about it. They were gone all the time and weren't very strict. They did complain for him to "get off the couch and go soak in some sunlight for a change" but that only cued him to take a portable video game with him.

Lyle got into Pokemon when it first came out in America in 1998. He didn't really play the games at that time, but he did watch the anime. He would run home from school just to make it home in time for the anime. He would often dream that he was battling alongside Ash, Brock and Misty. One year, about a year after Pokemon debuted, he was given Red and Blue for Christmas. Then he got Gold. He always seemed to be behind the times when it came to playing the RPGs. During the Advance generation, he sat out of Pokemon and began to watch Digimon only to return to Pokemon a little while later. Now he plays Pokemon Pearl and Platinum. He eagerly awaits a new generation of Pokemon and more to come.

He spent a lot of time playing Pokemon and other video games because he was obsessed with technology. With a total disregard to the outside world, he would play video games nonstop. He grew up with no social contact except for a few people who were also game freaks like he was. What little time he did have outside was spent with a Gameboy Color, then a Gameboy Advance, and finally a Nintendo DS. If it were not possible to bring his portable games, he would spend that time reading strategy guides and thinking about what his next move was going to be.

Pokemon has influenced him in some of his values such as loyalty, friendship and compassion. He also owes his love for animals to Pokemon.

Breed: Vulpix

Nickname: none

Gender: Female

Description: Vulpix looks like most foxes. Her fur is brownish-red, but there is one difference. Most Pokemon have up to six tails, most of them already having the six tails that they will acquire, however this Vulpix has only 3 tails. This particular Vulpix likes the way she looks however, an exact opposite to Lyle. She wears a little pink bow on her forehead. She is often seen grooming her fur, as she likes to stay clean.

Personality: Vulpix is very social. She also has a one-track mind. Whenever she gets her mind set on something, she forgets about whatever it was doing before and starts working on the latter. Vulpix kind of thinks Lyle is strange for some reason. She feels that there is something about him that she does not like. However, she still respects and trusts him and does what he says because she can also sense that he really cares for her and will do whatever it takes to prevent anything from happening to her.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RP sample: The Pokeball shook from side to side for a while. It seemed like forever that the Pokeball was shaking. Finally, after 5 long seconds, the Pokeball stopped. Bryce was excited. He ran to the Pokeball and let the Pokémon out of its ball. The Surskit looked confused as ever. It was a little afraid because of the way it had been attacked. It didn't realize that it had a trainer now.

"Hey, you caused me a lot of trouble, you know that?" Bryce talked to the Pokémon in a calm manner to prevent it from screeching again. "You're in luck. You've gained the privilege to become one of the strongest Pokémon in the world!"

"Skit?" The Pokémon was confused. It didn't understand a world that this strange little boy was saying to it. Bryce recalled the Pokémon. He would wait until he got to the next city before he released it again. He didn't want that swarm to come back. He heard a noise that sounded like someone crying in pain. That's right, Shinx! He had forgotten about her in the heat of the moment. She had been badly poisoned. He had to get her to the next Pokémon center and fast! But to do that, he'd have to go through the Oreburgh Gate. He picked up the Shinx and went toward the entrance to Oreburgh Gate.

Oreburgh Gate was dark and dank. There were rock become everywhere. There were two Onix fighting over a female Onix. He watched to two massive Pokémon in awe. Maybe he should catch one. Nah, that would have to wait. Right now, he had to make sure Shinx was okay.

The cave was pretty straightforward. There was only one way to go. It stretched like a long hallway. He ran straight toward the exit. He was running as fast as he could when he tripped over something.

"Diglett! Diglett! Diglett! Diglett! Diglett!" The little Pokémon moved as if it were panicked. "Diglett! Diglett! Diglett! Diglett! Diglett!" It continued yelling and moving around. The little Pokémon looked strange. It looked like one of those "whack-a-mole" games. Only its face stuck up out of the ground. He couldn't see the rest of its body. What was this "Diglett?" It was nothing he had ever seen before. He pointed his Pokedex at the strange Pokémon. The description on the screen said:

"Diglett, the mole Pokémon. It lives underground. Because of its dark habitat, it is repelled by bright sunlight.

Hmmm, that was an interesting Pokémon indeed. I wonder how the rest of its body looks, Bryce wondered. He picked a buff body under the ground. He couldn't help but laugh.

He had to keep going. He saw that there was someone approaching him. Was it a hiker? It sure looked like a hiker. What did he want with him? He didn't have time for a battle.

"Sorry I can't battle right now!" he said to the hiker and ran away really quick. He had to get his Pokémon healed as quickly as he could.

"I was just trying to get rid of all of these Full Restores I have," the hiker said in dismay. Of course, Bryce didn't hear him because he was preoccupied at the moment. He continued down the long dark hallway that was Oreburgh Gate. Next time I'm in the city, I'm going to buy more antidotes, he thought to himself. He should have stocked up on everything before he left. That's the last time I ever leave from somewhere in such a rush.

Shinx started to shiver again. She was getting close to fainting. He had to do something. He looked around. There was a small bottle with a green cross on it. An antidote! He had to go and get that. Shinx was saved! He ran up to the bottle, opened it up and poured it into Shinx mouth, but nothing came out! It was empty!

"Heh heh heh!" A trainer from the distance was laughing at him. "Are you really that desperate? Picking up trash from the ground?"

Bryce turned around to see a trainer with a large backpack was talking to him. He held a backpack and wore a GI. He must have been a Blackbelt.

"My Pokémon is poisoned! I need an antidote quick so that I can heal it!"

At this, the trainer smirked. "Really, and how did it get poisoned, hmmm? Did you carelessly let your Pokémon get poisoned?"

"No, it was an accident!" Shinx moaned again. "Look, I don't have time for this. I have to get to the Pokémon Center as soon as possible." Bryce turned around and began to walk toward the exit. He didn't have time to waste with this trainer. Shinx was close to fainting. He had to get to that Pokémon Center.

"Wait," the trainer said. What now? Bryce thought as he turned around. "I just might have what you need." Bryce reached out his hand to receive "what he needed."

"I tell you what, I'll give you an Antidote," at this, Bryce grew happy, "but, you have to beat me first." The happiness faded away. He should have known it was too good to be true.

He put Shinx down next to him. "Hang in there," he said to the hurting Pokémon. Then he called out Mankey and Surskit. The two Pokémon came out, eager to get this over with so that they could get some rest. They'd had enough fighting for one day.

The Blackbelt sent out an Onix and a Zubat. The battle was on.

"Onix, use Tackle! Zubat, use Supersonic!" While Onix charged at Mankey, Zubat let out a noise so loud and disturbing that a group of wild Zubat scattered away from the area. The supersonic hit Surskit who was left confused.

"Mankey, counter Tackle with Low Kick!" Mankey moved to the side and used Low Kick on the Onix. It was super-effective! Meanwhile, Surskit, who'd just been confused, didn't know which way it was going. It constantly bumped into walls, thinking them to be Pokémon.

"Ha! Your Surskit a bit on the slow side, isn't it?" the trainer gloated, "Zubat use Leech Life on the Surskit. Onix use bide!"

"Mankey, use Low Kick!" He didn't give Surskit an attack because he didn't want it to hurt itself any more.

Zubat bite the Surskit and sucked out some if its energy. Meanwhile, Onix started to store energy within its body. Mankey ran toward Onix and kicked it. The Onix only absorbed the damage. Surskit, on the other hand, snapped out of confusion.

"Surskit, use Quick attack, then use Bubble!" Surskit moved toward the Zubat at an amazing speed. It made a direct hit. Then, as the Zubat landed on the floor, it followed the attack up with Bubble. Both attacks made a direct hit with the Pokémon.

"Zubat, get back up and use Leech Life again!"

"Surskit, use Quick Attack to dodge! Then use Bubble!" Bryce knew that the Zubat was faster than Surskit so he decided to let the speed of Quick Attack help Surskit move out of the way. Then, Surskit released a stream of bubbles, knocking the Pokémon to the ground.

Onix released its Bide attack. It hit Mankey with twice the power that he'd dealt to Onix. Mankey grew frustrated. Bryce knew what this meant. It was time to use Anger Point.

"Mankey, Revenge!" Mankey unleashed all sorts of fury on the Onix. The attack was ruthless. The Blackbelt could only watch as his Onix was beaten down until he could take it no more. He recalled the Onix.

"Oh, right, you win," he said, admitting defeat. He began to walk away.

"Wait, aren't you forgetting something?"

"What?

"The antidote?"

"Oh, to tell the truth, I lied."

"You did what!" Bryce seemed as if he had Mankey's ability. All of his veins popped up and his face grew red. Steam escaped through his ears. "Why you, Mankey get him!" Bryce began to throw a tantrum.

"Hey, man, chill, okay?" The Blackbelt handed him a Potion. "This'll hold Shinx off until you get to a Pokémon Center." He also gave him two more potions and some money.

"Thanks, I guess," Bryce said, "and to think that I was about to sic Mankey on you."

"Sorry I lied. I saw how you were in such a hurry and I thought you weren't going to battle with me."

"Whatever" was all Bryce could say. He gave Shinx, Mankey, and Surskit each a Potion to drink and headed out of Oreburgh Gate. Finally, he was out of the cave and on safe grounds once more…

• Name Jordan Mays
Age 14
Gender Male
Description:Jordan has mutt heritage. . He normally weres a yellow shirt and blue shorts along with white and grey tennis shoes. He wears copper colored glasses over his blue eyes He also has curly hair that changes between light and dark red ,depending on how much sun he gets, that is also a bit longer than an average teen his age. He also always carries a Gameboy Advance SP at all times, and some pencils and paper to draw with since he dreasm to become a cartoonist.

Personality:The type of teen who shouldn't have Mountain Dew. He is always hyper and this can get annoying,as the more hyper and exited he gets the louder he talks, but he just wants to befriend people. He is very artistic and doesn't really follow the crowd and is always living in the past. Many people tell him "Get with the times" or "Play a DS or PSP!" and he nonchalantly looks up and says "Why? I'm having fun!" with a happy smirk on his face.

History: He was born in a blizzard during the cold January months. He grew up drawing and imagining things always trying to create new things. He first started watching the anime around 4-5 years old and started playing the games before he could read, meaning he couldn't get passed Virdian city. When he finally realized the games and anime went together he played his blue everyday with teenagers across the street, who taught him what they knew. He eventually beat them game, of course his copy of blue was glitched from the beginning giving him all 3 starters in the wild(true story for me) and when he showed a friend the MissingNo. trick and told his friend never to use it,his friend did..on Jordan's game. Not wanting the teens to get mad at him for going against their word of never catching MissingNo. he lied and said he restart his own game, of course the glitch offset the battery somehow making his game unsavable. Over the years his love of Pokemon wavered as the new generations came out, he still thought the games were Ok but started to despise the new anime. He eventually learned of RPing and did this with friends to let him have some original fun with them. Now most recently he was transferred to the Pokemon world and wants to get back home,he was transferred while playing in the wee hours of the night playing his Gold version wishing he could be a trainer-Little did he know he'd get his wish.
RP sample: Jason was sitting on his friends couch, a little to puffy for his taste, but the orange couch was comfortable. He was playing Pokemon Stadium 2 with his Gold plugged in. He was waiting for his friend to get some snacks before their battle, so he was leveling up.

"Man Greg is in for a big suprise when I layout my Togepi on him!",he thought to himself-See neither of them were far in the game, not passed the third gym yet but their Pokemon were strong enough to be.

As Jason leveled up, Greg spied around the corner snickering to himself. "Hah! He may be leveling but I got a Genie on my side!", he said playing his gameboy with a Game Genie sticking out of it. "Ok,my Party's filled with all legendaires at level hundred. No way he'll win!"

Greg walked up to the couch with the snacks and they each imported their Pokemon. Jason saw he had cheated but said nothing as Greg sat there with a sly grin on his face.

As the battle began the game had froze for a moment, and the textures were messing up slowly. As the battle finally started neither kid could comprehend what happened next.

"What?!?", Greg screeched as it showed his party,"I only have one Igglybuff?"

"Wow,I guess cheaters don't when win!", Jason taunted as the battle started.

As the battle rage the Iggybuff just wouldn't faint, every attack missed and it kept getting critical hits.

"Yes! I knew I would win!", Greg cheered as Jason sent out his Togepi, his last Pokemon.

As the battle finished Togepi was down to 3 HP while Iggybuff was still at full health.

"Man, Why did I put my Michelangelo action figure on the line?",Jason thought to himself as he chose Togepi's seemingly last move, metronome.

"Ha, Jason! Looks as if I have won Mikey!", Greg said as he input his last move.

Now what happened next would seem impossible to both boys yet they were watching it, Togepi went first since it was faster and picked Splash.
"Ha, You just doomed yourself!",Greg shouted as he raised his arms in victory, not looking at the screen.

"Look again Cheater!",Jason said as the screen filled with water with a caption "1 Hit K.O.!"

"Wh..Wha?!?!",gasped the green hooded boy,"But that's IMPOSSIBLE!"

"Yup,but I defy those odds, now you owe me a Raphael remember?-
Now I know this isn't that great it's just that I'm not good at coming up with stuff on the spot,so please give me a chance :cer_nod:?

Breed: Chickorita
Nickname: Terry
Gender:Male
Description: He is really just a regular Chickorita just a little more self dependent. He has been passed over time and time again for being a male Chickorita since many guys think they're to girly and girls wanting females, making him a little bit untrusting towards people. He also has a few spots next to his tail which is very uncommon.
Personality: A loner who just want to be loved. He is friendly towards Jordan, since he picked him as a starter but still doesn't completely trust him. He normally just does what he wants, sometimes causing trouble for him, but normally he just sticks around Jordan since he doesn't know whats out there in the world and wants Jordan to protect him.
