Either Guthrie Govan or Stevie Vai.
Guthrie Govan won my heart with his instrumental piece named "Fives". Watch it here.
    Pure guitar bliss.
Stevie Vai is by far, has the biggest presence on stage. One of the most technical guitarists I've ever seen, he's truely amazing.

This is going to be really typical but Slash is amazing... and his swag is really sexy when he is playing.

I am pretty much in love with this man. His playing style is unique, as is his wardrobe and eccentricities. Furthermore, he is a multinstrumentalist and master lyricist.

Here are some vids to convince you to love him too:

    Guitar - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1y0LhGukiQ

    Piano - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V91sQozzFgc&feature=fvw (check out 00:57 especially)

I like Kirk Hammet a lot. The riffs he plays are amazing.
My all-time favorite would also be Angus Young. Outstanding guitarist.

David Gilmour and John Petrucci are probably my favorite. Gilmour's created some really great emotional pieces and Petrucci shreds like a God rly.

Jani Liimatainen (ex Sonata Arctica (an amazing band) guitarist). When I started to really listen to music, my father gave me some SA CDs and I liked them instantly, particularly the guitar work. Then when I started to play guitar, Jani was my main influence.

My second favorite guitarist is Michael Angelo Batio, simply because his instructional DVDs taught me so much about guitar, and also because I think he is the most amazing player the world has ever known (even Guthrie Govan and Shawn Lane don't impress me that much) and I love his CDs.

...Really? Nobody has said Dimebag Darrel? I was expecting everyone to be a tool in here and mention him at least once.

I think there's something wrong with all of you now.

Herman Li from DragonForce for hopefully extremely obvious reasons.

The fact that I've absolutely never heard of any of the above people proves how awesome I think Herman is.

  • I would choose Herman Li from Dragonforce. He can play very fast, and has a technique unlike any other.

Awesome, someone else has heard of this guy. He's insane, I want a new album.
Stevie Ray Vaughan is easily my favorite guitarist
Also amazing, Texas Flood is surely the best electric blues album there is.

There are so many amazing guitarists out there that I can't pick one, but I can make a top three:
    Omar Rodriguez-Lopez
    David Gilmour
    Steve Hackett

All play very different styles, all god-tier.

Jimi Hendrix; due to his rendition of "All Along The Watchtower" - which is, without an iota of doubt in my mind, the greatest song cover ever.
