I was so exited that i had caught some Pokemon and had beaten Brock with my Bulbasaur, but i didnt know how to save and it took me a few days to find that out...

This was because in the menu the option 'save' is called 'sichern' in german, but the more common term for saving a game is 'speichern', i had never seen/heard 'sichern' before and this confused me xD

I was like "OMGOMGOMG... Okay, got this little Bulbasuar thing, the manual said it's the best noob one, okay... WOAH! Wtf? Pidgey! Okay, gotta remember that name! Wow this thing is strong, I wonder if I can get one later!" etcetera. I was like jumping up and down excited.

I was so excited to finally be playing the game, but I got a little frustrated when I couldn't figure out how to get out of the house... I felt stupid once I realized you just walked out.

I was also really psyched the first time I caught a Pikachu. Those were the days...

Pokémon Blue was the first GameBoy game I ever played (on my brand new shiny GameBoy Color, clear purple edition) and because I was so used to computer games that you had to close down before you turned off the computer, I spent ages trying to figure out how to exit the game so I could turn the GameBoy off. :'D

And I was also dead excited when I found a wild Pikachu. I think my starter was Squirtle. :)

This might not really be how I FELT, but what I was thinking.

"What the heck are they saying?? Hmm.. Let's just press YES all the time!" As a six year old in Sweden, you don't understand so much more than YES and NO in English.

    Though, I was probably excited..

I was eleven when Red and blue came out in America, so I wasn't quite as naively overexcited as some of the posters here, but I was still learning the game bit-by-bit. From reading ads in magazines at the time, I expected it to be some sort of platformer where you collected the actual pokemon and then used them to fight. XD

Well, seeing how my first game was actually Green Yellow (no, I do not own Green :X), which, minus the Pikachu part, is pretty similar to RGB, I was really excited because I was in love with the Pokemon anime back then XD

... And I remember restarting after Cerulean Gym, because I had no clue how to continue. Until one of my stepsisters helped me. Then I got stuck in Celadon. Keep in mind I was in kindergarten and first grade XD

I played Yellow before those two, but to answer the thread, I have to move forward to 2004. Yes. 2004.

Red; I crapped my pants because Pidgey didn't look like Pidgey, but Charmander was cute and cuddly, so I was reassured and caught the little birdy. And then...it happened. I saw...Golbat. I fell in love with the music though.

Blue; Okay, 2008 for this. Yeah. Shut up. I'mma Yellow starter. Anyway, I wondered how the previous owner of the game had a level 100 Charizard and Blastoise along with a level 34 Nidoqueen and just arrived in Vermilion. Guess that's what trading is for. Oh and I didn't have much of a reaction. I already saw the graphics on Red, just in another color.

I remember playing it for AGES. I mean, I was obsessed and excited and couldn't stop playing with it.
But i remember buying the handbook before and studying each POkemon so that I could learn about the pokemon, before I playyed the game. :3

Well I was unable to get it at first due to the lack of a GB(A), but once I did I got it months later and, well, I already had Sapphire at the time so I was trying to keep my expectations low.

I liked it, but it could have been better...

Being like 5 years old, the game was really good and inspiring, thats the least I can say... But everyone has there own experiences with this game that they share, which is what makes this game so special.

Yellow was my first and my first step into the gaming world. I think the moment I remember best is after you receive your Pikachu and start to venture out, then the realization that there's a whole world in the game was amazing.

I couldn't actually read through the dialog for a while, though. >____>

But as for my first moments of Red and Blue, the fact that I got to chose between Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle was amazing at the time.

    Wow, I was like 5?
My friend had it in daycare. And I instantly fell in love with it because I had already like the Cards and TV show.
    And well, when I got my game boy I got The TCG game rather Red/Blue so I was angry. -___-;

I got Blue when I was little, but what I really wanted was Gold or Silver. So you can understand that when I got Blue I was pretty disappointed, although I played it. Then I got Yellow, all excited because I was hoping that it was Gold - I was again disappointed, though not as mch as with Blue, seeing as I got my very own cuddly little Pikachu and Team Rocket actually meant Jessie and James (XD). Gold for me was love at first sight, but that's not the point of this thread.
