  • Since Gen 5, the game corner has been excluded from the Pokemon games. HG/SS had the game corner but only had Voltorb flip. My question is do you think OR/AS will have a game corner? If they do what mini-games will they put in?

  • The Game Corner is something that I would not want to return in its original form. I mean, before HGSS, you either spent tons of money on coins, or got extremely lucky. In HGSS, you only have the option of grinding away at Voltorb Flip. Fun game, but you win coins all too slowly.

If they want to do a Game Corner again (and they'll probably do what HGSS did) then they need to make several mini-games that let you earn coins at a decent pace. Or just not make the prizes so awfully expensive.

  • Maybe it's the game corner that caused the delay in Europe...?

I guess the Japanese and US versions will be the same as usual. Europe will have the game corner functionality removed.

Yeah. They really should replace it with an arcade. It's the same functionality but it allows for a lot more creativity on the developer's part.
I'm all for getting rid of the Game Corner. It's just a bunch of games of chance and a gold sink. Now if you could attempt to cheat, that'd be another story.

Still, an arcade seems, to me, like the optimal solution.

  • I'm pretty sure the Game Corner won't be in the game since Mauville City, the city that had the game corner, was majorly redesigned.

This. Usually when I play the game corner, I just hoard money, then buy the coins I needed. I never really play the game corner. If they would include it, I want them to include a greater range of games, aside from the slots.

You know, that's making me start to believe if the removal of the Game Corner was what caused the redesign of Mauville City. Remember, we haven't had a Game Corner appear in Unova or Kalos, which was likely due to the ban placed by Europe's anti-gambling legislation that also caused the presence of Voltorb Flip in HG/SS.

  • I hope Voltorb Flip makes a comeback. It was more fun than the Game Corner and, if you were good, you could rack up coins in no time, as opposed to the slots.

I really want to know, how many people actually got addicted to gambling, because they played in the game corner of the older games. I've always spend my money in buying coins rather than playing slots, so I guess a lot of people did that, too.

If they were to remove them from ORAS, too, and replace it with some mini game, then I hope, they at least give you the option to still buy the coins, or at least remove the luck factor entirely from the mini games (in exchange they could make it a little bit harder). Considering even in the Voltorb Flip game there was an annoying luck factor, that can screw you over, if you had bad luck.

Unless the game is totally about chance or gambling, I'm sure none of us would like to see ourselves lose out in the Game Corner, and the prize stakes are so minimally low compared to the prizes we get. Perhaps if they made a minigame which doesn't involve chance/any sort of input then that would be cool. And anyway, they stopped giving out Pokémon in RSE, so it becomes a totally optional thing. Not worth risking the gambling feature. It's just another side feature in Hoenn for them to toy with now, imo.

From this probably nobody, in too many EU countries they were strongly against anything that promotes gambling to minors, in France I've heard its illegal to advertise any form of betting/gambling, where as in Ireland/England betting is advertised regularly.

I'd rather they replaced it with a cloths shop for customization, since Poke Marts appear to making a return in these games there isn't much places they can just put cloths shops without changing towns quite a bit.

  • It doesn't matter to me. In all the games that had a Game Corner, I avoided them. Just didn't find any enjoyment in playing those mini-games, so when HGSS came out with Voltorb Flip, it was actually a welcome change. Since they haven't brought it back in the past three or four installments, I'm not sure that they will for ORAS, but they could do something similar to what happened in HGSS and introduce a new mini-game to replace it.

  • Actually, the slots could be timed out right. But you have to be exactly on the dot.

However, I think I might like to see it replaced(roulette was fun tho...)Replaced with a contest hall or somethimg

  • Nintendo owns it... So a Mario Bros. Arcade Game in the Game Corner... LOL not going to happen.

Pokemon Zeta/Omicron(fan-games) Have Triple Triad. Taken from Final Fantasy. It satisfies to Game Corner needs without looking like Poker or other Card Gambling.

  • I would hope that, rather than leave it out altogether, they include the Game Corner but have at least one game where you don't have to pay to play but still earn coins. Additionally, it'd be nice if said game(s) did not focus so much on chance as casino games typically do. One thing I really liked about Voltorb Flip was you had to be strategical + be decent enough at math to figure out which spots were "safe" and which had Voltorbs. There was barely any luck involved (it was still present at times, however).

If they do take out the Game Corner, though, they can always find another way to sell or hand out the items in it. For example, the dolls could be available in Lilycove's Department Store and the TMs could be available for BP in a battle facility or be scattered across the region. (This is already the case with every TM aside from Flamethrower.)

I hope they change it. I still want a game corner and I hope there will be pokemon as prizes like the good old days of gen 1 and 2. I kind of want a game like black jack. Also a different way of buying coins instead of two set coin amounts how about choose the amount of coins and they make us pay for that amount. Like buying items.
