    Hello pokecommunity,

I'm participating in a first generation only tournament in a week or two. (You can only use the original 151 pokémon excluding mewtwo/mew. One bird legendary is available). This is my team:

    Arcanine @ Leftovers
    Ability: Flash Fire / Intimidate
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 252 Hp / 200 Atk / 56 Spe

    Move set
    - Flare Blitz
    - Close Combat / Wild Charge
    - ExtremeSpeed
    - Substitute

    Gengar @Leftovers
    Ability Levitate
    Ev 56HP/255SPA/196speed
    Quite Nature

    Move Set
    -Knock off
    -Psychic
    -Shadow ball
    -Thunder Bolt

    Electabuzz (M) @ Lum Berry
    Ability: Static
    EVs: 160 Atk/252 Spd/98 SAtk
    Hasty nature

    Move set
    - Fire Punch
    - Ice Punch
    - Thunderbolt
    - Cross Chop

    Blastoise @ Leftovers

    Nature: Naughty
    EVs:HP60/Att.200/Sp.Att.148/Spe.102

    Moves Set
    -Dragon Dance
    -Super Power
    -Outrage
    -Draco Meteor

    Hitmonchan@Life Orb / Leftovers
    Ability: iron Fist
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 252 HP / 200 atk / 52 Spe

    Move Set:
    Substitute
    Bulk Up
    Focus Punch
    Ice Punch / ThunderPunch

With pokémon being limited to 151, these are the pokémon I will most likely face: Charizard, Venusaur, snorlax, any of the three legendary birds, gengar, aerodactyl, dragonite, arcanine and blastoise. I know this because some people already revealed their teams and these ones seemed to be populair among them.

Now, I probably made a lot of mistakes. I haven't played for three-four years so feedback is defo welcome! If you have any idea's to switch a certain pokémon...let me know :)

    I hope I'm not posting this too late for your tournament. ;-;
    I've gotta make this quick.

    Gengar @Leftovers
    Ability Levitate
    Ev 56HP/255SPA/196speed
    Quite Nature

    Move Set
    -Knock off
    -Psychic
    -Shadow ball
    -Thunder Bolt

Gengar does really well with Focus Blast.

    Gengar @ Life Orb
    Levitate
    252 Sp.Attack / 252 Speed / 4 Sp.Defense
    Timid [+Speed; -Attack]
    - Protect
    - Hidden Power [Fire]
    - Focus Blast
    - Shadow Ball

    Blastoise @ Leftovers
    Ability: Torrent
    EVs: 232 HP/222 Def/56 SAtk
    Bold nature

    Move Set:
    - Surf
    - Rapid Spin
    - Yawn
    - Hidden Power [Fire]

If you're only using first Gen Pokemon and you need a rapid spinner..
Cloyster is the Pokemon of choice.

    Cloyster @ Focus Sash
    Skill Link
    252 Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP
    Jolly [+Speed; -Sp.Attack]
    - Rapid Spin
    - Icicle Spear
    - Rock Smash
    - Razor Shell / Ice Shard / Toxic Spikes

    Dragonite@Dragon Fang
    Ability: Inner Focus
    Nature: Naughty
    EVs:HP60/Att.200/Sp.Att.148/Spe.102

    Moves Set
    -Dragon Dance
    -Super Power
    -Outrage
    -Draco Meteor

Now, I learned this one today.

    Dragonite @ Expert Belt
    Multiscale
    252 Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP
    Adamant [+Attack; -Sp.Attack]
    - ExtremeSpeed / Brick Break
    - Outrage
    - Earthquake
    - Fire Punch / Roost

    Hitmonchan@Life Orb / Leftovers
    Ability: iron Fist
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 252 HP / 200 atk / 52 Spe

    Move Set:
    Substitute
    Bulk Up
    Focus Punch
    Ice Punch / ThunderPunch

Machamp has a lot more going for it than Hitmonchan. Maybe try this:

    Machamp @ Lum Berry
    No Guard
    252 Attack / 240 HP / 16 Speed
    Adamant [+Attack; -Sp.Attack]
    - Dynamic Punch
    - Bullet Punch
    - Payback
    - Stone Edge
    ~

    I'm sorry all of my recommendations are so dodgy.. ;-;

I'll come back and post better descriptions on why those sets may work, but right now I'm busy. I just wanted to say a little something.

    Good luck!

    Lol!

Thanks for catching that Spartan! I wouldn't want to mess anything up. I saw the Abilities and whatnot and thought, "Why wouldn't he use this stuff?!" xD

Guess I got a little over zealous. Disregard my post then.

    Sorry 'bout that! :3

Hey me again, I frogot to mention a couple of things:

-I HAVE to use atleast one starter. That's one of the rules

-We don't have to use Gen. I moves (I know)

So your help is still appreciated :3 Sorry for my late reply (tournament is in a week)

It'd be better if you explained why it's the best Gen 1 Rapid Spinner. :3 Personally, I always thought Blastoise was the better rapid spinner due to the better typing. (Cloyster only resists 2 types and is weak to 4. It's vice versa for Blastoise.) Also, Blastoise has a much better Sp.Def and an already decent Defense. Blastoise and Tentacruel are both better because they actually have a way to get rid of ghost types. (They get Foresight and Hex, respectively.) If you want an offensive Rapid Spinner, then you can use Starmie.

    I know, I'm sorry. I was in a super big hurry when I posted that and I never came back to fix it like I said I would. ;____;

And considering that you need a to use a starter Pokemon, than Blastoise can totally work for you. Spino already gave excellent supporting reasons so, at the risk of stating the obvious again, I'll leave it at that.

For the sake of thoroughness, let me state why Gengar likes Focus Blast.

    - Shadow Ball

Focus Blast goes well with Shadow Ball for near perfect neutral coverage. But most importantly, Focus Blast can get super effective hits on Ghost resistant / immune Pokemon like Snorlax, Tyranitar, and Heatran. Gengar can have a lot of problems with Metagross and Scizor, which can be helped by HP Fire as it will 2HKO and OHKO the two respectively. I'd also like mention that Protect could be switched for Thunder Bolt for super effective hits on the likes of Starmie, Gyarados.. etc.

Allow me to also clean up Machamp a bit.

    - Stone Edge

The beauty of this set is No Guard. Any attack has 100% accuracy, combined with Dynamic Punch and Stone Edge, it's a pretty devastating blow. Bullet Punch will make Machamp's horrible Speed obsolete. Payback hits anything that resists Fighting and has near perfect coverage with Dynamic Punch. The same applies with Stone Edge, which will hit Gyarados ridiculously hard.. Plus, No Guard completely compensates for Stone Edge's shaky accuracy. Again, a seriously lethal combination. Just as another option, Ice Punch can work really well on this set in place of Stone Edge. A x2 super effective Ice Punch has the same power as a neutral Dynamic Punch. I'd also like to revise my EV spread here, investing 252 into Attack and HP is the way to go. I suppose you can invest 124 EVs into Speed to outspeed Skarmory, but it's not really worth it.

I hope that cleared stuff up a bit. Good luck in your tournament! :D
