If you use the free anti-virus known as Microsoft Security Essentials, you would have downloaded an update which has marked Google Chrome as a Trojan. But if you try updating now, it's too late to miss out on the action as Microsoft has released another update correcting the incorrect definitions.

What do you think of this mistaken on Microsoft's part? Will you switch to another anti-virus?

Although I don't use Chrome or Security Essentials, this sounds at first like a conspiracy by Microsoft to attack Google.
On the other hand, this also sounds similar to the faulty DAT update to McAfee VirusScan issued April 21, 2010 that marked Windows XP SP3's svchost.exe as infected and needing to be removed, resulting in thousands of systems being disabled as a result.

It was a false positive on MSE's part, more can be read here: https://www.neowin.net/news/microso...jan?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

On September 30th, 2011, an incorrect detection for PWS:Win32/Zbot was identified and as a result, Google Chrome was inadvertently blocked and in some cases removed from customers PCs. We have already fixed the issue - we released an updated signature (1.113.672.0) at 9:57 am PDT - but approximately 3,000 customers were impacted. Affected customers should manually update Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) with the latest signatures. To do this, simply launch MSE, go to the update tab and click the Update button, and then reinstall Google Chrome. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused our customers
