    Pilot

    Character Name: Meredith Walburg
    Character's Codename: Abele Lansfeild
    Character Age: 22
Character's Country of Origin/Power Block: AEU

Character Appearance: Abele is one to stand out in a crowd due to her height of 6'2", including the 2" heels of her black working boots. Her skin is almost pale white, but her figure is slim and well toned due to carrying heavy machinery and regular exercising. Her bust is 37", something that she finds to be a burden in her line of work than a gift. Abele's hair is a slick layered ebony reaching down to her shoulders and flaring out towards the ends. Her eyes were a piercing turquoise blue but now only have half of their effect, due to the left eye being covered by a white eyepatch. Her casual dress consists of a men's (She's discovered that men's shirts are more durable, less stainable, and comfy) lightweight collared button down shirt with a vertical navy and white pattern. Underneath this shirt she wears a simple white tank. On most occasions, she likes to wear a pair of black jean shorts with a brown belt. If it's not the time for shorts, she'll wear some dark blue jeans and a brown belt.

Character's Suit Colors/Customizations: Standard CB suit, navy and grey color scheme.

Character Personality: When it comes to life, everything is serious business to Abele. She doesn't create a cold atmosphere around herself, but more so one of being
unapproachable. For her, time is of the essence and idle talk or chatter alway seems to be in the way of things. According to her philosophy, if someone asks a question, all
they really need is an answer. Otherwise, why would they be asking the question? The only situations where she would begin a conversation is if it was about the latest mechanics
or if she was talking to Kain and Rosa. Although she can come across as a dismissive and terse person, it's more so her nature than a disliking of a person. Talk is cheap and
actions will always speak louder than words. When she does begin to like or admire a person, she doesn't get kinder, she starts to become more sarcastic. Ranging from light
sarcasm to being bitterly harsh, that tends to be her only comfortable method of communication. This usually either keeps people distant, or they eventually learn that she means no ill will by it. For the most part, people don't tend to take the time to figure out the latter. This nature is due to the fact that through the majority of her life, she
didn't socialize with many people around her age, leaving her to become a socially inept and distant person. Throughout her life, the only two friends that she can name are her
co-pilot Kain and his doll, Rosa.

On the interior, Abele is actually a very caring and sensitive person when it comes to the affairs of people is is close to. When it comes to the relationship between the two, Abele takes on a role more so like an older sister rather than a co-worker. The Kain before the incident had always been kind
and understanding of her own character as well as becoming the first true friend she could remember. Abele holds herself responsible for the events that happened during the
gundam test run and blames herself for the condition that Kain is currently in. As a result, she places Kain before everything else and holds herself responsible if anything else should happen to him. Rosa is also a friend of Abele; although she doesn't move, she's real to her because she's real to Kain. Messing with either would result in something very unpleasant.

As a gundam pilot, she has always been a light-speed thinker, though her hands haven't always followed suit. With her eye missing, it doesn't exactly help and bringing such a
matter only leads to confrontation. She's an average pilot, but an excellent strategist and a quick when it comes to responding to certain situations. When it comes to intense
warfare or tight circumstances, her adrenaline kicks in and her taciturn personality seems to fade away. While excitable in battle, when it's over, she returns to her silent and
    unapproachable manner.

Character History: Abele was raised and born in Munich, Germany with much of her life revolving around mechanics and machinery. Her family was poor and because they could not afford a proper education for her, taught her at home...mechanics. When she reached laboring age of fourteen, she was quickly sent to work in the mechanic and engineering facilities of modern day technology. Due to her broad knowledge of mechanics from an early age, she quickly excelled in the ways of gears and operations and felt secure in having to stay within that niche throughout her life. Unfortunately, years later, an armed coup controlled by the New Order shook her life at the foundation, taking away her family, her career, and her future. Among the destruction and devastation, she had found someone else like herself in the same predicament named Kain. From then on they vowed to make it through together. They setting out to rebuild their lives as partners, first out of necessity, then out of habit, and finally out of friendship. Their search for employment soon led them into the service of the AEU government, and - as word of their 'battlefield experience' leaked into the higher circles - eventually into one of their more sensitive programs: a special test unit for developing the strictly forbidden mobile suit technology. The duo had their qualms about it, of course, but the pressing need for better income soon outweighed the distant prospect of the omnipresent authority figures in the sky coming down to punish them for their transgression and so they agreed.

Their life in AEU quickly took a turn towards the worse. Mobile suit technology had been ceased to exist for ages, bringing back the machinery was a risk, and experimental tests and trials were necessary. Abele and Kain had both offered to be a part of the experimental testing and putting their fate into unknown hands, boarded an experimental gundam. The results were catastrophic to them both; Abele's test suit lost control, and as Kain attempted to stop it, suits and pilots alike received serious injury. A heated scrap-shared penetrated and seared Abele's eye, rendering her half-blind and beyond salvation from even the most advanced medicine, while Kain received a devastating blow to his head.

Quick medical intervention saved their lives, but with half of Abele's sight and at least as much of Kain's mind gone, neither was fit to pilot anymore. Abele, distraught at the results, instantly began to blame herself for the mishap. She had previously worked on much of the machinery used to operate the gundam and felt that such a mishap was because of her own doing. Although the impact played on her memory of the actual plans, the emotional strain and bits and pieces of the actual incident left an impact on her mind. At first, AEU officials considered simply eliminating the duo to avoid a dangerous information leak, but upon intense questioning, it was found that neither seemed to have any recollection of the project they had been working on and so they were eventually dismissed as harmless loonies and shuttled out the door with a small pile of hush money.

The labor market had not been kind to Kain and Abele before, and their newfound status as cripples did little to improve matters. Profitable employment avoided them like the plague, and the settlement was soon spent. Just as the situation was starting to look completely hopeless, however, a mysterious third party approached the duo with an offer they were in no position to refuse...

Though their employer assured them that none of the tragic incidents were their doing, Kain and Abele may as well have been tailored to fit the lone Gundam that waited them within the depths of the Ptolemaios...or vice-versa. What they were to society, Gundam Alice was to its fellow mobile suits. A tragic case of development taken further than the human component could support, its multi-target system, meant to be the perfected version of the now long-gone Throne Zwei's, had turned out to be a practical nightmare. It was, simply put, too much for even the most tenacious pilots to handle, their bodies drained of energy far before the suit had reached its own performance limits. Haro substitutes had proven difficult to optimize, and though they could provide satisfactory performance, it was still thought that something...more could be achieved.

This mythical 'more', as it so happened, was precisely what Kain and Abele managed to bring. Their piloting skills had been honed by their work with the cruder models and with their mutual history, cooperative effort came to them as naturally as breathing. Soon enough, their anonymous contact had seen enough to deem the rather unconventional solution worthwhile, and so Celestial Being's first - and to date only - two-pilot Gundam was brought into service.

    Gundam Suit same as AE's

    Gundam's Name: Alice

Gundam's Appearance: Appearance-wise, the Alice bears a certain resemblance to Throne Zwei, the suit upon which its design was based. Additional defensive plating on the suit's torso and limbs gives it a bulkier, more box-like appearance, however, as do the considerably larger cannons on its arms. The large sword that constituted one of the original model's primary forms of attack has also been foregone, but its replacement is no less imposing. A full five pairs of smaller GN particle cannons are spread across the suits surface, one cannon on each shoulder, two more on each arm, and finally four on its back. Finally, two heavy-duty protective shields are attached to the suit's sides, ready to be switched in in place of the arm cannons as necessary.

All in all, the Alice looks more like a small fortress on legs than a conventional mobile suit, making it a foreboding sight to say the least.

Gundam's Weaponry/Defense Mechanisms: The Alice is really best thought of as two separate entities. The main suit is designed for heavy bombardment, featuring additional defensive plating and two sizable arm shields for protection in addition to a GN Energy Shield system. A full-scale GN Bazooka constitutes its primary form of offense, supplemented by a pair of slightly lower-impact GN particle cannons. Two beam sabers are also available at the mech's sides, but given its poor mobility they are truly only there as a last resort and rarely see use in combat.

The secondary weapon system, and the one that sets the Alice aside from its peers, is the ten small, detachable cannons that constitute the suit's primary line of self-defense. Much like the Zwei's fangs, each cannon can be detached from the main suit and operated independently, but unlike the fangs they place more emphasis on self-protection that brute force. In place of the original's beam saber mode, each option is capable of generating its own weaker GN Shield, making them more resilient to opposing fire and allowing them to serve a supplementary role in blocking weaker projectile fire if necessary. However, because they can only leech off GN particles from the space around them - lacking the means to generate them - the detachable cannons will quickly run out of energy should they stray too far from the main suit. As such, the detachment attack is treated as the proverbial ace up the suit's sleeve, to be used only when the situation truly calls for it.

Though fairly impressive on their own, the full potential of these two systems is only realized when they are used in tandem, the smaller cannons maintaining a constant stream of fire to keep opponents at bay and pin them down for the finishing blow from the heavy armaments while the combined defensive systems deflect most attacks. Slowed down by the heavy armaments and defensive plating as it is, the Alice is far slower and less mobile than most Gundams, but what it lacks in this area it makes up for with superior endurance and firepower, making it ideal for bombardment and scattering enemy formations. Furthermore, due to the separation between the cannon and main gundam systems, the remote system, complete with its own cockpit, can be detached from the main suit should it need to be evacuated or requipped to another unit. Because the support unit is specifically designed with the Alice in mind, however, this is not an option that should be used lightly.

Gundam Type: Cannon/Heavy bombardment type, somewhere halfway between Virtue and Throne Zwei design-wise.

    Alright guys, ohhhh my gosh.

I suddenly had this huge pick-up pace in terms of school and stuff, and I had about like, three minutes of computer time on Wednesday, therefore, I obviously didn't start this RP.

I'll probably have time tomorrow night, and I'll try to get things rolling tomorrow. It'll start Sunday at the latest, hopefully. x_x

    Again, many apologies. </3

Oooh...moved posts. Now there's a trick you don't see in most RPs. :x

Anyway, about your call for a strategist? I can handle that if no-one else is willing. Will try to settle on a proper idea and have the profile up for your perusal within the day, but since today is our national independence day (no, not yours you silly American Peeps ;D), I prolly won't have as much time to work on it as I'd like. I'll do my best, though. :3

    Character's Name: Ezekiel E. Halsen
    Character's Codename: Kiel H. Alezeen
    Character's Age: 32
Character's Country of Origin/Power Block: Union

Character Appearance: A decent 1,68 in height, Kiel is far from the frail fossil most would expect given his reputation. Though not as physically fit as any of the pilots, he is well aware of the adverse effects to his health that remaining on the Ptolemaios near full-time involves and takes care to keep his body in shape through regular exercise. His skin is pale, as expected of one as reclusive as him, and his prematurely grayed hair - always neatly combed - gives him a deceptively old appearance at times, but the spark of keen intellect in his clear blue eyes makes it plain to see that Kiel's mind is still in its prime.

Clothing-wise, Kiel sees no particular reason for additional fuss or bother, typically settling for a midnight blue shirt and a pair of black trousers with a similarly colored belt to go with them, a pair of nondescript dark brown leather shoes occupying his feet, though should circumstances require him to dress warmer, a steel blue trench coat and a pair of thick winter boots will be there waiting. Finally, due to a mild case of nearsightedness, Kiel typically wears a pair of thin-lensed glasses with a gold-colored rim.

Character History: Long known as something of distanced and lofty academic, Kiel made a policy of keeping the finer points of his personal life well out of public knowledge even prior to adopting his current alias. Born into a family of modestly talented researchers, he was acquainted with the academic world at an early age, showing particular fascination for the field of robotics, which soon became the primary focus of his studies. Kiel proved a quick study - a prodigy, some said - and soon earned himself a scholarship at a famous academy in the US. His parents were overjoyed, eagerly spurring their son on, not that Kiel really need it at this point as he was - if possible - even more enthusiastic about the prospect than his parents.

Kiel soon developed a level of infamy, both for the many research papers he wrote about his chosen field of study and for his accomplishments as a chess player, the only real hobby he has been known to indulge in since taking up the researcher's career. In his personal life, the story was quite different, however. Kiel had never been much of a people person, even as a child, but the more engrossed he became in his research, the more obvious this tendency became. As he came of age, the former child prodigy became more and more of a reclusive hermit in the academic world, first eschewing his lecturing work at the academy, then appearing at conferences with rapidly declining frequency, then only making contact with the world through the publication of his works, and finally, about a year before Celestial Being's official revival, disappearing from the public eye altogether. He had been inactive for a long period prior to vanishing, and had faded from any wider circles of interest long before, and so few noticed his disappearance, and with the meticulous precision he applied to erasing and obscuring what little information remains and his lack of living relatives, few are liable to find out.

Kiel's reasons for joining Celestial Being are hardly a secret to anyone on the Ptolemaios. Given his field of study and love for mechanics, multiple factions - particularly the Union government - had tentatively probed about Kiel's possible interest in the rumored nucelar suits program, only to receive the harshest of declines in response. As much as he loved machinery, his distaste for the complacency, pettiness and greed in human politics - and indeed, humanity in general - was equally apparent. Given such an anti-social disposition, one would have expected the reclusive academic to be no more favorable towards Celestial Being's utopian goals, but this would simply be the speculation of people who did not know Kiel better. To his way of thinking, any counterweight to the short-sighted race for nuclear reactor suits that was spreading throughout the political elite was welcome, and though he was not so naive as to completely believe that the organization really stood for its lofty goal, the notion of getting a chance to reshape human society was not one he was going to pass up on lightly. Besides, the Gundams were the proverbial pinacle of mobile suit technology, and even though his offered occupation as strategical forecaster would most likely not get him in direct contact with them, simply working with such awe-inspiring machinery seemed like a worthwhile experience.

All things said, the situation was one where Kiel saw very little to lose and much to gain, and even though he purposefully drew out his acceptance, Celestial Being had effectively had him enlisted the moment they first extended the offer.

Since then, Kiel has not been sighted on the Earth save when circumstances pressingly need him to be, preferring the relative solitude on the Ptolemaios and the ambiance of advanced technology to the milling crowds and uncvilized backwaters of the Earth's surface.

    Character's Occupation on Ptolemy: Tactician

And...it's finished. Yay, I guess? XD

Ezekiel. :'D What a nostalgic name.

    Anyway, David:

The day after tomorrow would be the international event where hangars on earth were re-opened, re-furbished military bases opened to operation once more, and the official roll-out of the Union's Gamma would take place, in Washington D.C.

    Washington, sweetie. :>

Just a little heads-up here for all you Celestial Being folks:

Andrews AFB is the only place at or near Washington, D.C. where the Union Gamma's unveiling would be an appropriate event. As for military installations in the AEU, you have plenty of choices, but just off the top of my head, I can suggest Ramstein Air Base in Germany; you also have a wide choice of RAF installations in the United Kingdom, such as Alconbury, Lakenheath, and Mildenhall.

Umm...you do realize that this is way out in the future, right? Any number of new installations could have been built up while - given the events of the anime - just as many old ones could have been obliterated. I don't really see a reason why the locales should be restricted to stuff that exists in there here and now when the odds of the current airports still existing in the time this is supposed to taken place in is, given their nature, unlikely to say the least. Plus, it's not like the locale conditions of airplanes and mobile suits are exactly identical either. :\

Not to mention: this a big, public unveiling, is it not? That means they would want to do their thing someplace grand, practicalities be damned. It's about showing off rather than a serious military operation anyway. ;D

Anyway, Chibi and Kansas? I'm going ahead and taking a bit of liberties with the location in my next IC, because seriously, if the three of us try to sit down and have a detailed discussion over this it's going to take forever and a day to actually get those posts done and that would make for a sucky opening note for the RP. I hope you don't mind terribly? D:

Alrighty, I'm going with Grand Place, Brussels. Last I knew, Brussels was still where the EU headquarters was located at and Grand Place is the single best place in a city for a large group of peeps to gather. Given the timezone, it would be 23:OO of the day before the Beijing incident, so they'd also have the oh-so-beautiful night scenery to add to the glamor. XD So, basic plan is the suits launch from Brussels airport and then set out to give a show over the Grand Place, which is where the attack will commence.

Also, since it makes sense for the bombardment unit to be making the opening attack, I'll go ahead and start things of, m'kay? ^^

Alright, so I have a few things to say:

    1. I know this mission is totally harried, undetailed, and just plain messy. But! This is just to get us out there, and get things done. Blahhhh blah blah. The works. After this, I will be giving a little more guideline to the missions, so yeah. xD; Sorry if you're sitting here wondering when I'm going to grab the reins.

    2. Once you're done with your mission, head back to the Ptolemaios, yeah?

    3. I described things terribly in my last post Jack, sorry, it was totally my fault. Since you're the only antagonist from HRL at the current moment, I thought it prudent to inform you- and I guess, everyone else, on how I envisioned the HRL's current military defenses. Due to the shortage of Aheads that were provided, the HRL dug even further back, which means that while they have Aheads, they also have MSER-04 ANF's and Tieren's. This doesn't require an edit if you don't want to, but the purpose of shooting down on Tiananmen was to wipe out some of the Ground Tieren's and ANF's. xD ("Phase 2") It wasn't out of spite, as much as it'd fit Aesur's character. But that's a perfectly fine conjecture for your character, if you want to keep it as such.

    4. It's true that we're way in the future, but I'd also like everyone to remember that not everything changes like the wind, things get facelifts and such, and especially with the new technology and stuff. But at the same time, Alter Ego has a point as well. So what I want to say is, whatever is convenient to you, you may keep, whatever is not, you may ignore, or point out that whatever institution we're referring to is gone.

    5. Secondary characters can be controlled by everyone once I say they can be. We'll first let their creators be the only ones able to play them, for the sake of fleshing out the characters, but after a substantial period of time, we'll be making things more open. (But um, sorry, Basil is off limits, since he's not showing up much after this anyway. He'll just be the off-handed reference, like Liu Mei usually is.) As such, if you're looking for another character, feel free to make antagonists later on in the story, or... right now, even.

    6. Hey kids, let's go BLOW UP some NUCLEAR mobile suits! :DDDDD

Yeah I realized that blowing 'em up was not an option a long time ago, but even after all this time, my limited knowledge has drawn up no solution. My Plan B is "Whatever, make up something that'll contain the explosions" but if anyone has a better idea. :| I'm all ears.

Umm...yeah, I was wondering about that one. XD (not to mention people 'running out' of nuclear fuels in the first place, seeing as how we already have breeder reactors to create more fissile material and prevent that sort of thing)

Well, first off we've got to be a bit more specific about what kind of reaction takes place in those cores. I suppose they could (and anyone better informed can feel free to correct me, as it's been a long while since I last studied nuclear physics) set them up with a subcritical reaction. That is, a fission reaction where the average natural number of nuclear reactions per reaction is less than one. This technique is less energy-efficient than the standard power plant reactors and it's not self-sustaining (you have to keep feeding neutrons to it if you want to keep it going), but it's also a lot safer because the lack of critical mass means it won't overreact and mushroom cloud itself. Also, because there's less reactions, radiation levels would be lower, which would be beneficial for the pilot.

Mind you, it's still something you wouldn't want to lend those extra neutrons to, by say...energy cannon bombardment, so it doesn't really solve our problem, huh? Ehh...I guess figuring out a way of taking them down would be the first goal within the RP? XD

Well, some sort of nifty device for just plain stealing the core could be used (Haha, Kyrios-style suit-opener? XD), as could anything that shuts down the neutron feed and thus kills the reaction, but those are hardly practical solutions. Nukes will be nukes, and all that, and containing an exponentially growing explosion is easier said than done. Luring them out into space and blowing them up there would minimize envrionmental damage, but even there the range you'd have to do this at not to be hit yourself is rather ridiculous, especially if we blow up more than one suit since they'd explode in a chain like so many happy little nukes. :x

...you know, the more I think of it, the more I find myself wondering who the hell would willingly strap themselves onto a mobile nuke in the first place. Those must be some pretty dedicated pilots. D:

Eeeh...I guess we could take the lame way out and say that GN Particles (perhaps modified in some way) would be capable of absorbing those neutrons before they hit their intended target, meaning if you drench the nuclear core in them, it would kill the chain reaction right there and then. Like I said, a lame out, but it's the best I can think of at the moment since I'm hardly a certified nuclear physicist. XD

    Certified nuclear physicist consultation, go!

The padre of Allelujah Haptism gives Al's first method the OK. He says, 'course it'd still be damaging to the general public, and if the battle took place in a city, then people are still gonna get cancer, but the radiation would be: "Much less". Then he went on to say that an effective method would be surrounding them with lead. I countered: "That's not effective."

Anyway. I'm pretty sure we've gone with the presumption that our favorite Union Government has chosen to keep the whole radiation business under wraps, and are still dealing with how they'll deal with the repercussions when people figure out the trend that all the pilots are dying of illness, rather than blowing up. That's why those lovely pilots are getting in. xD

    I rather like the lame idea though. It solves like, everything. xD;

    Update:

Mr. Nukes has the solution to our problem with the radiation on the pilot! I probably won't be able to convey this properly, but the basic concept is to contain the nuclear reaction in lead to stop the gamma, and polyethylene to stop the neutrons. That way the radiation won't be emitted during flight, and it won't affect the pilot either.

    Yet to find a solution to the fact that we gotta blow 'em up at the same time though. <_<;

edit: Oh that's right, Chibi, I'm waiting for you, so are you going to post? :O

A nuclear reactor simply can't explode in the event of a meltdown due to the very nature of its design. Most nuclear fuel simply isn't enriched enough to cause a nuclear explosion, and even if you are using weapons-grade uranium as your fuel, there's still the presence of the neutron moderator to deal with.

The conditions of a meltdown can cause a non-nuclear explosion, however. If you're using water as your coolant, a steam explosion can occur, which would probably have enough force to rend the reactor vessel and the entire mobile suit to pieces; the heat generated by the meltdown could also set off ordinance if it's close enough to the reactor site, or simply melt the whole mobile suit into slag. Either way, the pilot's screwed; at least he/she doesn't have to suffer through the living hell that is acute radiation poisoning if his/her mobile suit just blows up or melts.

Then again, I have only a rudimentary knowledge of general nuclear safety, so take what I just wrote with a few grains of salt.
