Why do people have issues with 'crossdressing', anyway?
Women wearing pants used to be considered crossdressing. Is there any reason that wearing clothes widely considered only for the opposite sex is taboo?
Would it be falling to a lower level to dress as such? Are women lower than men or vice versa?
I find this interesting and unfortunate.
Weird little cultural things like this do evolve; it used to be, for instance, that pink was associated with little boys and blue with little girls. Baby boys were (and sometimes still are are) put in gowns. People wear kilts.
Gender and the cultural ideas surrounding it vary like crazy from place to place and from person to person. When you think about it, disregarding sex and considering gender only, there are many more identities than male and female, and infinite ways to express them.
