Metal is pretty great in most cases. I enjoy some Metal bands like In Flames or Slipknot, but then once you get to like Deathcore type stuff I can't stand it. I'm talking bands like Cannibal Corpse. I just. I can't. I hate them so much.
My favorite Metal band is by far In Flames. My favorite song by them is probably Alias from their album A Sense of Purpose.

my metal tastes are weird -- I can't do much of the traditional riff-based stuff like death / thrash metal (although I am partial to Metallica, Slayer et al). my tastes lie more in, like, some alternative metal, black metal, stoner metal, drone metal, doom metal. etc. that's a lot of links. I'm open to a lot of stuff though.

Stoner metal's part of my jam, Kyuss are gods.

I'll probably be seeing Metallica in this festival I'm going to this summer too, only really listened to The Black Album though.

Black Metal seems to be my main poision.

My favourite bands are Midnight Odyssey, Lustre, The Committee, Elderwind, Funeral Tears, just to name a few, I could go on for a while.

I like pretty much all the sub-genres of metal. Boiling it down to just 3, I'd say my top 3 are:

Ambient/ Atmospheric Black Metal Midnight Odyssey - Shards Of Silver Fade

Melodic Death Metal Omnium Gatherum - White Palace

and Funeral Doom Colloseum - Weathered

I like classic Metal every now and then, but I gravitate towards Power Metal more often than not. So stuff like Sonata Arcitca, DragonForce, Kamelot (sometimes), etc.
Right now, I recommend the song Kingdom for a Heart by Sonata Arctica.
