5th Gen How can I name my starting Pokemon?

    How can I name my starting Pokemon (I want Snivy)? And those others that come after it. Right now I'm not given any option to name him upon receiving.

    I know there's a name changer further in the game but I rather start of with my own names.

    If I recall correctly, once you get to the lab and talk to Juniper with Bianca and Cheren, she'll give you the option of changing your starter's name. If not her, then your mother (pretty sure it's Juniper though). Either way, you can change your starter's name before you leave the starting town, so just let the story play out and then you'll be given the prompt to change its name. :D

    Also note you'll need to visit Bianca's house on the bottom left before being able to access the lab.
