    First off.
Baton Passers use the move Baton Pass (DUH)
Baton Pass is a 40 PP (64 with PP Max) move that allows the user to switch out of battle with normal priority. The user is then able to pass any stat boosts, or other conditions, to the Pokemon that comes in as a result. Baton Pass also allows the user to escape from the effects of Shadow Tag, Magnet Pull, and Arena Trap.

    EX.

Ninjask > BP > Swords Dance > Attk UP > Switch > Starmie > Attk UP etc.

As you can see Ninjask raises attack with Swords Dance, Switches out for Starmie to switch in, Starmie's Attack has been raised because of BP from Ninjask.

Good BP's will probably have Baton Pass. As well as moves to raise stats and pass on moves like Mean Look and Substitute can be passed on.
(See my How-to make a Sub team thread)

    ----------------

These are all the things that are able to be passed through Baton Pass:

    -Aqua Ring
-Block (both on you and your opponent)
    -Confusion
-Curse (when used by a Ghost on the Baton Passer)
    -Embargo
    -Focus Energy
    -Gastro Acid
    -Lansat Berry
    -Ingrain
    -Leech Seed
    -Lock-On
    -Magnet Rise
-Mean Look (both on you and your opponent)
    -Mind Reader
    -Perish Count
    -Power Trick
-Spider Web (both on you and your opponent)
    -Substitute (keeps its HP)
    -Stat boosts / drops

    ----------------

Pokemon that learn / breed / chain-breed / Purified to learn BP in Gen III

    Mr. Mime
    Eevee
    Ledyba
    Ledian
    Togepi
    Togetic
    Aipom
    Girafarig
    Celebi
    Ninjask
    Mawile
    Plusle
    Minun
    Huntail
    Gorebyss
    Venonat
    Scyther
    Spinarak
    Skitty
    Meditite
    Volbeat
    Illumise
    Spinda
    Absol
    Beedrill
    Spearow
    Rapidash
    Farfetch'd
    Dodrio
    Hypno
    Zapdos
    Natu
    Swellow
    Lunatone
    Solrock

    ----------------

Now to design your BP team you have to know what moves counter Baton Pass. These are:

Roar-Causes you to switch out. Mostly used in a Haze team.To stop use Ingrain or Soundproof pokemon.
Whirlwind-Same as Roar. Only stopped by Ingrain.
Exploders-Can take out a BP team member. Make sure you have a Substitute on.
Perish Song-Only 3 turns till Pokemon faints. BP to someone with Soundproof.
Haze-This move is the ultimate BP stopping move!!!! Only beatable by Taunt.
Encore- Can force you to switch out causing loss of stat boost's.DO NOT USE INGRAIN!!! Just have to wait till they have no PP or to keep BPing till they switch.
Taunt-Can completely ruin Baton Pass teams, as it prevents stat-up moves, as well as getting the pass off. Either have Taunt on own team or putting moves on Pokemon.(Because it incapitates Pkmn with no Attk moves!!!)

Some things you may notice are that Ingrain and Soundproof are pretty much a necessity, meaning that two Pokemon must be on your team: Smeargle and Mr. Mime.

    ----------------

For a lead, one thing is to be able to outrun common Taunters, so that you don't get shut down on the first turn. The best leads for a Baton Pass team are Pokemon that can pass Agility and can outrun common taunters (Gyarados) e.g Zapdos

Next pick a team that you work will with (make sure they have BP and stat-boosters)

Finally TRAIN,TRAIN and TRAIN some more. Always alternate your playing style as it really helps out further on in the game

Hope this guid-ish guide helped you pursue your dream of becoming a Pokemon BP'r

You've posted this in the in game forum yet baton pass is pretty pointless in game as most things are easy to beat anyway. Your just wasting hp setting up all them boosts when you can 2hko most pokemon anyway with anything reasonable.

As its in game you won't need a roar counter or really any of the others on that list because there so uncommon.

On your first example Starmie isn't a good receiver of attack, if you need me to explain why to you you shouldn't be making a guide.

You should also list example move sets of the best baton passers, receivers and an a example team to show people how it works.
