No way would I be beaten by a trainer using one Pokémon of a type stronger than the entire team.

Maybe a bit overpowered because of the variety, but that was the reason of the choice. Trainers using a single type would be at a huge disadvantage, so badly that someone who has just started their career would be able to beat you because they picked the grass starter. I tried to avoid starters but i couldn't resist, they both have dragon qualities without being dragon type, something i was trying to do but quickly gave up on.

That's why I added the Starmie to my gym roster. So that it could take out Ground/Rock types that might threaten my Electric types. Also, Starmie could use Electric attacks so I'm not straying from my specialty.

    Grass

    - Bellsprout
    - Sunflora
    - Jumpluff
    - Ludicolo
    - Cradily

Bellsprout would be my strongest one... even though its a basic pokemon. Thats okay though I'd make it work somehow ;)

I would be a water type Gym Leader, with lots that are mixed types for countering and such.

    - Lapras
    - Corsola
    - Swampert
    - Floatzel
    - Vaporeon

    Cherrim

I always think of it this way:

Gyms and the Elite 4 are there to challenge trainers. If a trainer is training up just one Pokemon, they'd be put at a disadvantage (theoretically) if they come up against an opposing type. Even if they're training a balanced team, if one type is super effective against most of their team, they'll be struggling to pull through. Having mostly monotype gyms and Elite 4 tests their ability to stand up to the elements in Pokemon.

Plus if mixed was allowed in the Pokemon universe, EVERYONE would have mixed teams. And they'd all vie to have the best competitive Pokemon and there would be no variety.

Honestly I think it would take more skill to train and select Pokemon of a single type that would be able to stand up to whatever trainers throw at them than to pick a balanced mixed team. ;)

    Leader Sortail
    Type: Water
Gym: It would be a place where you have to race your rival, and swim through an underwater maze before a time limit runs out. At the end there are 3 rows of rock smash rocks to waste your time, and you have to break a particular rock in each row. Once you get up you first battle your rival (if you lose you have to do the maze all over again :) and then battle the leader's butler, gardener, and maid.
    Butler:
    Ditto lv 34
    Seaking lv 35
    Gardener:
    Lombre lv 34
    Lombre lv 36
    Maid:
    Miltank lv 35
    Gyrados lv 34
    Seaking lv 36
After beating the maid, all your fainted pokemon get fully healed, but all status conditions don't go away. (Gyrados repidatly uses ice beam, which is annoying if your pokemon get frozen.
    Actual Leader
Note: Milotic has very good ways of beating up Grass and Electric types.
The first 2 pokemon are chosen randomly from these. The third pokemon is always milotic.
    Seaking lv 41
    Waterfall
    Aqua Ring
    Horn attack
    Water pulse
    Sharpedo lv 45
    Agiility
    Taunt
    Aqua Jet
    Crunch
    Gyrados lv 43
    Ice beam
    Flail
    Sleep talk
    Rest
    Azumarill lv 46
    Defense curl
    Bubblebeam
    Water gun
    Aqua ring

    FINAL POKEMON
    Milotic lv 49
    ??????
    ???????
    Ice beam
    Surf

Your pokemon at this time would be about lv 42, so this would be a hard leader.

I wouldn't need to have too many Pokemon: 3 is fine. I'd probably be like the 2nd or 3rd leader for some reason.

    No doubt about it for me--Fighting-types;

    -Infernape
    -Medicham
    -Lucario
    -Machamp
    -Heracross
    -Poliwrath

I have actually built this team in Platinum, though EVs are only half-way complete. If I'm restricted to the usual three or so Pokemon that we often see with gym leaders, then I'd be using the first three.

Edit - I might use Gallade rather than Medicham.
