Holding her Litwick onto her lap, Mina kept watching the room in silence. All the people there were so different and she had only ever seen so many different types of Pokémon bundled up together in the Safari Zone. The girl kept mindlessly running her finger up and down her Pokémon's body as she was thinking about the journey ahead of them .

Being rather ticklish, Chibi soon begun squirming about, trying to evade her trainer's "tickle attacks", but to no avail. She then bounced about, trying to get Mina's attention, but the girl was so lost in her train of thought that she couldn't even feel the movement going on. The Pokémon huffed in frustration and clenched her tiny arms, gritted her teeth and closed her eyes as she puffed up her flame and aimed it at her trainer's finger, making the girl snap out of it because of the sudden pain.

"Chibi!" the girl spoke in a high-pitched tone, showing her annoyance. "That was so mean!" she went on, not realizing that she was being very loud.

The Litwick simply turned her back on her trainer and huffed triumphantly.

Mina soon realized she had been loud and blushed as she lowered her head and tried hiding behind her soft, chestnut locks. She quickly reached out for her backpack and pulled out a pretty-looking pink book. Peeking around her, she realized nobody was staring so she sighed in relief and opened the book.
"We're here at the Cianwood Complex and, so far, not much has happened. There's lots of trainers here and lots of Pokémon too. I'm so excited, but so nervous. What are we going to do?" the girl wrote down in the book which appeared to be a Journal.
Suddenly, a tall boy with blueish hair and purple eyes seemed to have lost his temper and outright yelled: "Oww, has nobody got anything to say?", causing all eyes to fall upon him, and, soon enough a brown-haired boy wearing a black, funny hat to rudely answer, causing a commotion.

Mina sighed and pulled Chibi closer to her. She couldn't understand why boys had to be boys at times. Was it SO HARD to simply wait in silence? The girl then leaned against the window frame and looked outside, uninterested in the commotion the two boys caused. She was just hoping they'll end it fast. She was wrong, however, as the two eventually engaged into battle, still yelling about at one another.

Mina turned around and figured she'd watch the battle anyways and she could immediately see that a guy that looked a lot like a Hiker and had a Rattata for a partner, immediately left, most likely due to being annoyed by the two loud boys. Her eyes quickly spotted a pretty looking black-haired girl engaging in conversation with a brown-haired boy that was sprawled across the floor. The pair soon left the room as well.
"Seems like there's a couple of rude boys here and, apparently, I'm not the only one that's annoyed by them. Gosh, I just hope we won't have to travel together any time soon. Imagine all the noise these two could cause over whatever nonsense, for the sake of rivalry. Well, at least it's nice that they're becoming rivals… it can get one motivated, I guess." The girl went on writing in her journal.
As she finished writing and placed the pen back between the pages of the book, Mina's eyes fell upon the figure of a boy, closely followed by a Cyndaquill. He seemed eager to watch the battle. The girl smiled as she felt her curiosity starting to build up. There was something about this recently arrived person that seemed to intrigue her so she made a note in her mind to approach the boy when the timing was right.

The battle between the two rude boys didn't last long, the boy that started it all and his Chespin having forfeited. Mina simply shook her head and turned her attention back to her Litwick that seemed to have spaced out, looking outside. The girl smiled and playfully poked the Candle Pokémon.

For a good couple of hours, the movement in and out of the room never ceased. Mina and her Litwick were already beginning to doze off when, all of the sudden, the room grew silent. The girl turned around from the window and was soon able to see why everyone's suddenly fallen into silence: Professor Lyra had made her appearance.

Act 1, Scene 2
Welcome to the world of Pokémon!
Time of day: Noon

The Sun was already at its highest peak up in the sky, signaling that it was already noon, when Professor Lyra finally showed up. The room had fallen into silence as every single trainer and their Pokémon watched the Professor with utmost interest and attention.

Spoiler:
A woman in her forties, Lyra looks nothing like anyone would expect someone her age to. She is tall, has a slender figure and her style is….eccentric to say the least. Her hairstyle barely changed at all in all those years and it looks like it retained its beautiful, shining colour it had ever since the woman was a young Pokémon Trainer. She wears a pink, short dress, black fishnet stockings that seem to complement her overall outfit pretty well, black pumps with a moderately-sized heel, enough to give her a classy look while still being comfortable to wear. On top of her pink dress, she wears a long, white lab coat and, around her neck, she wears a locket that resembles a Pokéball. Inside the locket, she holds a picture of her and her husband, Silver whom she seldom gets to see due to both of their extremely busy schedules. The only hint of the woman's age is the fact that she wears glasses.

Being Elm's Assistant and a Pokémon Professor herself, Lyra never really had time for the big, happy family she's always wanted ever since she was a kid. She does, however, have a child, a 13 years old daughter that she spends hours talking on the PokéGear with every now and again. Her daughter's currently in the Kalos Region, challenging the Gyms there.

"Greetings and welcome to the world of Pokémon!" Lyra begins her speech and then giggles. "Just kidding." she then says and smiles warmly. "I am glad that so many of you have answered my call for help. As you've probably noticed yourselves, strange occurences have been observed throughout the entire region. Pokémon are changing habitat, moving from areas suitable for them to areas you wouldn't expect to see them in, unusual migrations and, at times, even aggressive behavior towards humans in general. On top of that, there's been rumors of poachers trying to take advantage of these occurences. " The professor shook her head and sighed as she clenched her fists. "We… we don't know just how bad things really are. Our research is keeping us bound here. That's where all of you come in. I need you to help me by filling these PokéDexes and by keeping me up to date with any and every unusual activity you see. "

After looking around the room once more, as if trying to make sure that everyone's still listening to her, Lyra walked over to the table in the middle of the room.

"As you can see, on this table, there's a number of Trainer Starter Kits that I've requested for each person agreeing to help me. You will receive a PokéDex, five pokéBalls, a Potion, 3000 P and a custom PokéGear, courtesy of Silph. Co. "

Picking up a PokéDex, Lyra quickly explained the interface. In terms of design, the PokéDex looked a lot like the older models, but once one flipped the top open, two screens, one top and one bottom would light up and a number of options would be listed on the bottom screen. The PokéDex has a Pokémon Party Reading function which lets a trainer see their party Pokémon info, such as gender, moves, wether or not the Pokémon is exhausted or in good health and wether or not it has a nickname. A small high resolution camera placed on the top side of the Dex automatically records encountered Pokémon, when the proper command is used. The trainer has the option to view 3D or 2D models of the registered Pokémon. Upon initial start up, a trainer is to complete their trainer Profile and pick either a Male or a Female Dex assistant.

Placing the Dex back on the table, Lyra took out her own PokéGear and explained its purpose.

"This is the latest version of the PokéGear. The PokéGear is a tool of utmost importance to any trainer as it can act as a phone, map, radio and much more by installing various PokéGear cards into it. The ones you see on the table in front of you were custom made by Silph Co that wished to get involved into our research and help the best they could. Each PokéGear is unique so, each trainer may pick the one that best suits them. There's no two Gears alike, so choose wisely. These Gears got the most basic cards installed: the Map Card, the Phone Card, the Time card which shows you the current season, day and hour and a Weather Card which shows the current weather as well as a weather forecast for the next three days. As you can see, tomorrow there's a chance to rain, but the weather's changing back to the way it is today after that. You will be able to install more cards into your PokéGears as you advance in your journey. Some PokéMarts might sell some, others you might obtain from people, some are given out as prizes. There's plenty to find so happy hunting.

Professor Lyra smiled kindly then placed her Gear back into her lab coat pocket, then proceeded to ask everyone to form a line and receive their starter pack as well as choose a PokéGear.

"After everyone's obtained their starter packs, you're more than welcome to spend the rest of the day here, at the complex. There's plenty to see and lots of Pokémon. If you wish to stay the night, we have a building specifically built to accommodate trainers that visit the complex. Should you wish to go back to Cianwood, you are free to do so, but you'd have to spend the night at the Pokémon Center and, since there's going to be a storm out at sea tomorrow and because of all the raining, the Ferry won't be leaving the docks until the day after." Lyra explained and then proceeded to make a list of all the trainers and their starter Pokémon.

Kieran "Kiki" - Act 1

A woman in her forties, Lyra looks nothing like anyone would expect someone her age to. She is tall, has a slender figure and her style is….eccentric to say the least. Her hairstyle barely changed at all in all those years and it looks like it retained its beautiful, shining colour it had ever since the woman was a young Pokémon Trainer. Inside the locket, she holds a picture of her and her husband, Silver whom she seldom gets to see due to both of their extremely busy schedules. The only hint of the woman's age is the fact that she wears glasses.

Finally something interesting so to speak, the oh so famous Professor Lyra appears in all her fame and glory, presenting the young budding trainers with their starting packs. Kiki is the first to stand, and walk over to the table with a slight smile, he was glad to finally start his journey, despite the little heated discussion he partook in earlier. He grabs the 'Midnight' edition, considering it's darkness and Absol's type.

"As you can see, on this table, there's a number of Trainer Starter Kits that I've requested for each person agreeing to help me. You will receive a PokéDex, five pokéBalls, a Potion, 3000 P and a custom PokéGear, courtesy of Silph. Co," she began. You will be able to install more cards into your PokéGears as you advance in your journey. Some PokéMarts might sell some, others you might obtain from people, some are given out as prizes. There's plenty to find so happy hunting. " So all Kiki had to do was find these cards? Easy enough.

"Thanks a bunch Lyra," he says after also grabbing his pokéballs and potion, which will definitely help on his journey. He flings open his bag after stepping to one side to let the other trainers grab their resources and placed everything neatly in place. His bag was already a little bit lighter. Absol barked merrily as the two sat back down to listen to the rest of the speech. The thoughts in Kiki's mind now was 'should I try to fill up the pokédex' or 'should I try and beat the league?' Both thought's occurred to him as a definite problem, as now he was unsure as to what his pathway should be...

With the ferry not arriving until later tomorrow Kiki decided it would be best if he and Absol stayed at the the Complex rather than head down to Cianwood, besides with a storm coming, what if the two got stuck in it along the way - the mountains are rougher than one may think. The duo gazed around the room and watched as each individual picked their pokégear. Perhaps catching a new pokémon is in order? What's a team without lots of pokémon pals to choose from? This thought seemed like a pretty good direction to head in, or maybe Absol would be fine by himself?

"Hey Lyra!" Kiki shouts out, "the league is still operating with all this fuss and accepting challengers isn't it?" The thought had come to mind before, but if the league was operating, then why are they? There are lives at danger here, and the strongest trainers in Johto are just going to sit their without a care? Unless, Professor Lyra has been operating on her own and not informed the league of her discoveries? What did it matter, not like they'd be able to do anything anyways, making things normal anywhere is as difficult as herding Delcatty!

Izzy had actually been able to doze off, though he never slept very heavily, he was sleeping hard enough to not notice Lyra entering the room. Once everyone had gotten silent, Quirk looked up, noticing the Authoritative person walking in. He hopped up and quickly slapped Izzy across the face with his tail.

"Ow! What was that fo-" Izzy fell silent as he looked up, to see Lyra was standing in the center of the room.

Lyra began to give a small speech, consisting of an explanation as to why she had sent out all of the calls for assistance. Lyra explained that Pokémon had begun to migrate to environments that were not normal, and sometimes not suitable; Izzy began to understand why the situation was serious. Invasive species have a tendency to wipe out food supplies as well as occupy vital niches that native species need to survive. Without these vital necessities, native Pokémon could in fact begin to die off locally, or even migrate to new areas and become invasive species themselves.

This was a scary thought, knowing that this would lead to the extinction of several species of Pokémon who couldn't adapt to the changes. Izzy had made up his mind, His first mission was to study and catch invasive Pokémon for the research center to further examine them, hopefully finding the hidden reason behind their sudden need to migrate.

Lyra also touched upon possible poachers operating, due to the arrival of the invasive Pokémon. Izzy gave it some thought, figuring that if he encountered any of the mentioned poachers, he will do everything within his power to bring them to justice. He looked at Quirk, knowing that this meant they would have to train hard.

Izzy looked around the room, He could see that the other trainers were looking around as well, probably making up their minds as to what they would go about doing after the meeting was over. Lyra then set into explaining what the unknown device was from earlier as well as letting everyone know what they were going to be given for their task.

When the time came, Lyra told all of them that they were free to pick a color of Pokégear they wanted, asking that they form a line. Izzy quickly got up, getting into line right behind the tall, younger trainer with blue hair, which Izzy had seen battling earlier. Izzy looked over the Pokégear, there were a multitude of colors, but he figured that he'd just need the basics. He spied a green Pokégear on the table, reaching over, he grabbed it. As they moved down the table Izzy also collected the rest of his gear, including his Pokédex.

Izzy sat back down, putting the newly acquired items into their respective bag pockets; He slipped the Pokégear into his left leg pocket, figuring that he would examine that later. He held his Pokédex in his hand, as well as the money he had been given. He pulled out his wallet from his right leg pocket, placing the money inside, and putting the wallet back in his pocket. Izzy turned toward Quirk, pointing his Pokédex towards his small friend.

Izzy turned the Pokédex on, as he did, there appeared a small option that asked if he'd rather a male or female voice… After a moment of thinking he figured it would be more mature to choose the male option, the next screen had him fill out trainer information. After he had gone through all of the steps, Izzy decided to test out the little gadget, pointing it towards Quirk, he snapped a picture.

A few seconds passed, The Pokédex was beeping away; finally the little device flashed a description on the screen and began to speak.

Rattata:
It searches for food all day. It gnaws on hard objects to wear down its fangs, which grow constantly during its lifetime.

Izzy looked up, thinking well that explains a lot. Lyra then informed them of what they could do for the rest of the day. Izzy figured he'd go pick up Eri, who was probably well rested. He knew that Eri enjoyed hanging around him, but Izzy wondered if that meant that Eri would be willing to be caught. He hoped so, knowing that if they could become friends and train together, they could become a force to be reckoned with.

Izzy put his bag on, crouching down to let quirk on, soon he found himself exiting the building and heading towards the Pokémon center. It was now midday, different Pokémon were out and about, still enjoying the bounties that the complex provided.

As he made it to the Pokémon center, Izzy entered rather briskly. He calmly approached the desk, The nurse from earlier Looked up.

"You look a little bit better than earlier" She said analyzing both Quirk and Izzy.

"Thanks, we got a little rest" he answered, grinning

"Is the other Pokémon I arrived with earlier, healthy enough to leave?" Izzy, Inquired hoping that she said yes.

The nurse turned and headed into the back of the center. Returning shortly, Eri came walking out behind her. Izzy crouched, leaning to pat the small Pokémon on the head.

"Espurr!" Eri answered happily, glad to see Izzy unharmed.

"Eri, I have a question… I know you seem to like to tag along with me, but how would you like to go on an adventure with me?" Izzy asked, becoming very serious.

"Esp, Espurr!" Eri answered gleefully, Izzy hoping that that had meant yes, dug through his bag for a Pokéball.

Izzy reached over Eri's head with the Pokéball, tapping the small Pokémon on the head. Eri was sucked inside, Izzy let go… Letting the ball squirm.

I really hope Eri choses to be caught! He thought to himself, watching the ball.

Lyra turned around and faced the young man that had asked her about the Pokémon League. She quickly looked the boy up and down and smiled, slightly amused by how fast the young one got so fired up.

"The member of the Pokémon League are well-aware of the situation and they are also working towards finding the cause and viable solutions that would benefit both humans and Pokémon. But they can't give up on their jobs as League members and focus solely on this problem. So yes, the League members are still taking challenges."

Hoping that the answer was clear enough, Lyra turned back to making her list of trainers.

The Pokéball moved about in Izzy's hand a few times, after which, the red light of the button stopped flickering and the ball locked with a click.

Pineco ♀

Aon Lonsigner
Act one, Scene One
x5 Pokeballs, x1 PokeGear, x1 PokeDex, 3,000 P

The cold, crisp air of the laboratory chilled Aon as he strolled through the front main doors. He knew he was a bit late when he heard the faint but growing voice of a woman welcoming trainers. She was the unmistakable Professor Lyra, standing in front a table that contained many different shades and styles of complex machinery along with other items. Pokedexes, Aon thought to himself. After Lyra finished explaining how the Pokedex works, Aon got out Pinecos Pokeball. He crouched while pushing the button of the Pokeball, turning it into the larger, expanded version.

"Alright, Pineco, I don't want any trouble. You're going to come out when I call you, alright? I want to use this Pokedex on you." Aon said, whispering, tossing his pokeball onto the ground. The ball bounced once before it opened up and shot out Pineco. Aon whispered a thank you to his Pineco as he stood up. His attention was now on the trainers lining up. Oh man, I must have missed a lot! He thought, worryingly.

Trying to make it look like he was watching, Aon followed what the others where doing. His Pineco hopped besides him. He took a place right behind another trainer, who was shorter than he was. A small rodent Pokemon heeled beside his trainer.

Soon enough, it was Aons time to pick a PokeGear. He quickly glanced around, but couldn't decide on which one he wanted. He picked randomly, and ended up with a PokeGear that looked like something was bleeding. Well, that is just a bit violent… thought Aon. He shrugged it off, and walked over to the side of the table after picking up the rest of his given items. He stuffed his back-pocket with the money he received and slid the small, contracted Pokeballs into his bag. He now held a Pokedex and a PokeGear – both key tools of a trainer. He clipped his PokeGear to his left side. I'll mess with that later. He now help the Pokedex by both hands, and flipped it open. It gave him the option of picking either a male or female assistant. Since Aon himself was male, it was natural to pick male. It then asked to fill out a profile, which Aon did hastily.

"Finally, I'm done!" Aon exclaimed happily. His profile was now done, and he was able to use it. He knelt down, and pointed the PokeDex camera towards his Pineco.

"Pineco, the Bagworm Pokemon. A Pineco hangs from a tree branch and waits for prey. While eating, if it is disturbed by someone shaking its tree, it falls on the ground and suddenly explodes."

"Well that would explain what happened when I meet him, then." Aon looked at the PokeDex looked at its top screen. A female symbol was besides Pineco's name.

"Oh… you're a girl. My bad, M'Lady. I suppose you want in your pokeball, now?" Aon asked, reaching inside his pocket for the Pokeball. Pineco responded by tapping her head against the button, which returned her back into the Pokeball. He opened his bag up to put his new PokeDex in as he walked out the door.

Hikaru Morioka - Lyra's Lab

Hikaru nodded as the battle was called off, and followed Kaizen to the heart of Lyra's lab. When they entered the room, a woman approached, and introduced herself as none other than Professor Lyra. She gave a speech, and explained some of the gadgets they'd be using. Their was a gizmo called a 'PokèGear', and a 'PokèDex' and some little capture things she knew as Pokèballs. Kaizen was up ahead, and had snatched up a PokèGear. Hikaru guided Cynder through the crowd, and looked at the wide selection. There was a 'Silver' one that caught her eye, but that was before she noticed a 'Team Rocket Edition' one. She held it in her hand, and studied it closely. Perfect. She took it with her, and took a stand next to Kaizen.

Lyra continued her explanation, and gave everyone a PokèDex. After which she handed them all five Pokèballs, as well as some starter money. Three-thousand?! She then watched as Lyra took note of the every trainer and their starters. After Lyra finished her explanation, Hikaru led Kaizen outside the building. She smiled, and registered Cynder in her Dex before turning to Kaizen. Cynder cheered, blowing out huffs of smoke. Hikaru lifted the pyro mouse in her arms, and gave Kaizen an even brighter smile. It was exhilarating to know she was an official Pokèmon trainer.

"I can believe it Kai, I'm actually a real trainer! I'm so excited!" She exclaimed happily. She had a PokèDex, a PokèGear, and Pokèballs. What more could a trainer need? She was the real deal. She was so happy she could explode! She did a brief intake of breath to slow her heartbeat, and looked a bit calmer. She sat Cynder back on the ground, and gave him a pat on the head. There wasn't much to say, since her actions had probably freaked him out. She was on verge of tears, but she sucked it up. This wasn't the time to cry, it was the time to celebrate. And so she did. She gave Kaizen a big hug, and stepped back.

"Hey, would you like to travel together?" She asked.

Nycteus "Nick" Richards

058.gif

1.2: Professor Lyra/The First Catch
Nick waited with his Growlithe for what seemed like forever. He eyed down the table with the Pokegear, Pokedex and other things that he would find very helpful on his journey.

"Even though we are going to be battling for the good of the region, we're still going to defeat all of the gyms, Growlite." He pets his Pokemon gently as he looks up. From his position on the bench, he looks up to see a female figure in black fishnet stockings, a pink dress and a white labcoat come out from behind a set of glass doors.

"She must be Lyra…" Nick thinks to himself as he rubs his 5 o' clock shadow.

A collective hush falls over the crowd of trainers, as Nick listened attentively to the female Professor.

"Greetings, and welcome to the world of Pokemon…" She begins…

Nick and his Growlithe listen attentively for the entire duration of her speech, and he gets up from his seated position. Many trainers are getting in line for their goodies courtesy of Silph Co. and Lyra herself. Nick manages to make it in near the front of the line.

Upon getting to the front, the Professor eyes Nick and his Growlithe.

"You must be Nick." She says calmly. He simply nods in response to her question as she seemed extremely busy. Nick walked up to the table and picked up all of the things he needed, except for his Pokegear. Placing his Pokeballs into the pouch around his waist and the Pokedex into his back pocket. He put the potion in his backpack quickly and He examined the remaining pokegear that remained on the table, taking each color into account. He eventually settles on one and picks it up from the table.

Examining the deep green color of the Pokegear, he places it into his right pocket and smiles. His journey is finally beginning. The trainer spins on his heels and gets out of the way of the other trainers. Walking past each and every trainer who hasn't received their Pokegear yet, he flashes a quick smile at all of them. His loyal Growlithe stays at his side the entire way, as both Nick and Growlithe walk towards the door of the complex.

"Well, looks like we are stuck here for another day, Growlithe." Nick sighs, "The weather isn't going to be so hot tomorrow. Let's go look around in the meantime." He speaks to his Growlithe as they look around outside in the midday heat. Reaching into the neckline of his shirt, Nick picks out his black sunglasses and puts them on his face, blocking out the sun effectively.

"Growwlll!" His Growlithe says happily in agreement. The pair walk around the complex as the sun beams down brightly on both Nick and Growlithe.

Reaching into his pocket, Nick pulls out his Pokedex. "Let's see how this thing works, Growlithe." He says, flipping it open. After fumbling with the menus for a short amount of time, he assigns himself a female Pokedex assistant. He then points it at Growlithe and takes a quick picture. Almost immediately, a mechanical voice starts talking back to him.

"Growlithe! The Puppy Pokemon! Very friendly and faithful to people. It will try to repel enemies by barking and biting."

"Sounds about right, hey buddy?" Nick leans down and pets his Growlithe gently, who wags his tail in happiness. "Let's figure out what's around here if we're going to be here for a little while."

With a slight growl in appreciation, Nick and his Growlithe begin to walk away from the complex. On the outskirts of the complex, he looks down onto the rest of the plateau, and a little onto Cianwood City itself.

"Great view." He says cooly under his breath as he turns around. Him and his Growlithe begin to walk away from Cianwood, away from the complex itself, heading toward the base of a mountain which isn't very far away.

"I wonder what's over here… He says to himself."

Him and his Growlithe eventually make it to the base of the mountain only to see a single Pokemon mashing its fists into the mountainside.

"Groww!" His Growlithe growls quietly.

"It's okay.. Let's just watch for a bit." Nick motions toward the interesting Pokemon. "I think it's training… I didn't think Pokemon like that would be over in this area. I think that's what Lyra was talking about." He rubs his chin and watches intently.

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his Pokedex and snaps a quick picture.

"Geodude! The Rock Pokemon. It is impossible to distinguish from rocks. It slams against others in contests of hardness."

The female mechanical voice reads back to him.

"Let's try to catch him, Growlithe. He'd make a great addition to our team." Nick says confidently to his Growlithe.

"Groww!" His Growlithe's eyes light up as he howls, grabbing the attention of the Geodude who was mashing rock a second ago.

"Duuude!" The gravelly (no pun intended) voice of Geodude calls out as it charges towards Nick's Growlithe.

"Growlithe! Use Ember!" He calls out to his Pokemon, who obediently spews a small flame at the Geodude. The Geodude runs head on into the flame, which does a small amount of damage to it.

"I should have known that a Geodude wouldn't be too affected by Growlithe's attacks… It is a rock type after all." Nick thinks to himself, as the Geodude charges towards Growlithe.

"Try to get out of the way Growlithe!" Nick calls out to his Pokemon, but it is too late as the Geodude slams into Growlithe with a tackle attack.

"C'mon Growlithe, we can do this!" Nick calls out. Growlithe takes a moment to shake off the cobwebs, "You're faster than that Geodude! Just keep dodging and it will tire itself out!" Nick calls out.

His Growlithe easily dodges the oncoming attacks of the Geodude, which begins to slow down. "Nice going Growlithe! Use Flame Wheel!" He calmly tells his Pokemon. Watching Blaine battle earlier in his life on TV, he learned a thing or two about Pokemon battling.

Growlithe seemingly covers himself in flames and charges at the Geodude. He leaps into the air and smashes into it, causing the Geodude to crash to the ground.

"Did we just win?" Nick asks himself confused. His question is answered very quickly, as the Geodude pushes itself off of the ground with its fists, before charging itself at Growlithe once again.

"C'mon Growlithe! Let's just do the same thing again!" Nick calls to his trusty Pokemon, who dodges a couple tackle attempts from Geodude, only to be hit with the third one, knocking Growlithe back.

"We got this!" Nick says confidently, "Growlithe! Get close to the base of the mountain! We'll wait for the Geodude to attack out."

His Pokemon obeys and positions himself right at the base of the mountain. The Geodude sees this as an opportunity to end the battle and charges right at Growlithe.

"Dodge!" He calls out, and his Growlithe does a dodge roll to get out of the way. The Geodude smacks into the mountain, dazing it for a moment.

"Alright Growlithe, let's finish this! While it's stunned, hit it with another Flame Wheel!" Nick calls out, hoping that this would end the battle. Growlithe charges at the Geodude as quick as he can, and once again covering himself in flames launches at the Geodude.

Sandwiching the Geodude between the mountain and his attack, Growlithe lands swiftly on his feet. The Geodude tumbles down the mountain.

"Duuude…" The Geodude mutters softly. It attempts to get up to resume the battle but can't. Growlithe looks at the Geodude, ready for anything that could possibly happen.

"Duuuddeee…" A drawn out grown is all that the Geodude can muster, as Nick reaches into his pouch of Pokeballs and picks out one. He presses the button in the center, causing it to enlarge.

"Here goes nothing!" He calls out, and tosses it towards the Geodude. Upon contact with the rock Pokemon, it bounces up into the air and opens up. A red light engulfs the Geodude as it comes to a crash on the ground, rocking back and forth.

"C'mon…" He mutters under his breath as he waits for the Pokeball to stop rocking on the ground.

Josh "Lakitu" Hirosan - Journeys through Johto! Part Three: Professor Lyra is SHMEXEH!

Josh's Inventory:
Spoiler:

Professor Lyra has arrived! Finally! Josh thought in his head, a look of irritation on his face. He was still a bit mad that Kiki had called him and his beloved Chespin "wimps", but he decided against dwelling on the past and going into the present.

Becides, Josh thought, When Chestnut's a Chesnaught, she'll have a huge advantage over that freaking Absol. And then we'll show him who's the wimp! Josh was now smiling an evil grin, making him look like that classic teenage boy you see in a movie.

When he got a glimpse of Professor Lyra, he was awestruck. Lyra was wearing a pink dress with black fishnet stockings (Dem stockings! Josh thought), a white lab coat, and a necklace with a little, fake Pokeball. She was also wearing glasses, which was really unexpected.

During her explanation of the Pokedex, Josh was staring off in the distance. He already knew how the Pokedex worked... The only thing he was interested in was finding a Snivy. But not any Snivy. This Snivy was a leader of a gang. The gang, as you'd expect, is made up of Snivies (and one gullible Servine for some reason), and Josh had dark memories associated with the gang.

ONE YEAR AGO...

Before Josh and his family lived in Cianwood, they lived in Goldenrod City. Goldenrod City should've been renamed to Blackrod City, because it was more gloomy than golden. Josh was taking a walk with Chestnut, who at the time, just hatched out of an egg a month ago, when a Snivy appeared to Josh. At the time, Josh was really into Grass Pokemon, especially Snivy. So, he decided to chase the Grass Snake Pokemon. It was then that he chased it Snivy into an alley, an alley in which the gang's base was located. It was there that Chestnut was attacked by the gang of Snivy, even almost dying. And to this day, Josh can never get a good memory of Goldenrod...

Back to the present, please!

"-plenty to find so happy hunting."

Josh didn't realize how long he'd zoned out until she finished her PokeGear explanation. He then decided to ask the professor, "Excuse me, Professor Lyra, but what happened to that gang of Snivy that was located in Goldenrod City a year ago?"

The Pokéball rocked back and forth about four times, the button flicking the entire time, making Nick anxious.

Click! The button stopped flicking and the PokéBall locked shut.

Congratulations! Geodude was caught!

A young boy with a Chespin came forth and asked the Professor about a gang of Snivy residing in Goldenrod City.

Lyra looked at the boy over the rim of her glasses. She was visibly worried that an entire group of Snivy would live in a city, especially one as large as Goldenrod.

"The situation is worse than I thought..." she muttered then sighed and shook her head. "Snivy shouldn't be living in the city, especially in a city as large as Goldenrod." she told the boy. "since you seem to be familiar with this strange group, may I ask you to contact me once you reach Goldenrod, should you ever un into the group again? I honestly had no idea there was an entire group of them living in a city." the woman went on as she quickly wrote something down, adding the Snivy situation to the list of oddities.

Kieran "Kiki" - Act 1
pokegear_custom___jayce_by_ominn-d3au9he.gif

Ki nodded respectively as his question was answered with simplicity, allowing him the freedom to choose his own path now. He was still conferring over what to do, but his first ideal was to see Goldenrod city and see how messed up it may be. He had also heard many of the other cities had pretty much gone nuts in the past years, allowing them to grow and become kinda chaotic. He stood up to leave and left the building like a silent mouse. Perhaps a new team member is in order? Wandering along the dusty paths Kiki noticed a small path that led to a small enclosed space of lush trees where he could quite plainly hear a faint buzzing, and some playful noises. He crept up to the space, making sure not to startle anything there, hopefully he might be able to catch something. Before attempting for a fight, Kiki logically scanned the half hidden figure on the pokédex - Mareep, an electric type sheep pokémon! Simple enough, these things were weak in Kiki's mind but it couldn't hurt to travel with one - who knows maybe one day he may even discover a frozen cave and have to shear the Mareep for his warm fur - which was just a joke in his mind, understanding that a Mareep's fur is very important to it. He decided to show himself.

A quick momentum of steps threw himself in the firing line of a group of 5 Mareep, who instantly attacked with a mere thundershock attack, Absol stepping in the way to take the attacks for his pal. Kiki nodded gratefully as he called out a couple of attacks. Absol began with some swift movements, tackling into one of the Mareep, sending it into the next one like dominos, continuing with a scratch attack on the same Mareep. The Mareep's - startled - pulled off another thundershock attack, the targeted Mareep unable to attack due to it being rather weak. Absol made another quick movement, this time pursuiting several foes quickly whilst they were unable to spot the Absol coming from behind. Bam, another two fell to their knees. A certain Mareep used Protect strangely, but Absol countered this easily with a feint attack, dodging the incoming thundershock and knocking the 4th Mareep down. Finally, with a quick scratch attack, the last Mareep fell. As Absol panted Kiki looked over his first victory.

"Alright, but which one do we catch?" A Mareep perked his ears up, the first Mareep, and got up slowly to his knees, a spark in his eyes.

"You want another battle?" The Mareep nodded slowly. Surely this was some kind of test to deem Kiki worthy of travelling with the pokémon.

Absol yet again begins with the same combination of moves as before, quickly darting to the Mareep for a scratch attack, unfortunately predicted by the Mareep who outputs a small bolt of electricity, which Absol takes directly. This one's good, Kiki thought. Absol retrived his strength and quickly pursued the pokémon by quickly darting behind him, striking a powerful pursuit at the pokémon, knocking it forward. Due to it's strength being drained during the last fight, the Mareep fell onto the ground in front of Kiki.

"Alright then, hopefully that was enough to prove to you I'm going to be pretty awesome!"

KIKI USED ONE POKéBALL!

Click! The Pokéball sat still; Eri had chosen to go on the adventure with Izzy and Quirk.

"Yes!" Izzy cheered, as he pressed the button on the Pokéball, letting Eri back out.

As soon as he had let Eri out Izzy quickly reached for his Pokédex, hoping to learn a bit about his new friend. He snapped a picture, waiting patiently as the Pokédex computed.

Female Espurr:
Espurr has enough psychic energy to blast everything within 300 feet of itself, but it has no control over its power. The organ that emits its intense psychic power is sheltered by its ears to keep power from leaking out.

It all made sense, the explosion of energy, everything, Izzy thought. At that same moment Izzy decided to check his Pokédex to see what moves Eri knew. He flipped through the Options, eventually finding the option to see Eri's moves.

Scratch, leer, covet, and Disarming Voice. Izzy read the Information for every move. Izzy slowly began to formulate a plan; He knew that he needed to work with Quirk and Eri. They both needed to work on different things: Quirk needed to sharpen up all around, and if Izzy could find a way to help Eri control her Psychic powers, it would be less exhausting for her to use them. So they didn't have the same problem they had before with the strange Pokémon…

Izzy's mind drifted back to the strange Pokémon. He had figured out what the vision had been of. It was the day that Izzy had crashed his bike when he was 10. The strange Pokémon was watching from a nearby ledge when it happened, but why had it followed Izzy after all of these years? How had it been able to send him the memory? The questions were mounting with no answer in sight. Izzy's mind clicked once again. Professor Lyra may have a few answers to the questions he had, assuming she hadn't finished with all of the trainers yet and gotten back to work.

Izzy stood up, deciding that before he went to see Lyra again, he would fill up his water. After all, He didn't want to get stuck without it, dehydration could be a serious issue. Izzy found a water source; He filled up his Numelbak as well as his canteen.

As soon as he had filled everything back up, Izzy walked back out of the Pokémon center. He made his way back to the Lab, Hoping that professor was still available to talk to. Quirk and Eri followed close behind happily taking in the complex they walked through.

As Izzy walked up to the doors to the lab, He noticed a familiar face standing just outside. Izzy Passed a teenager who looked about the same age as he was, standing well over 6 feet tall, with pitch black hair. As he passed the teen, Izzy knew he could remember the face from somewhere, but where? He continued inside, to find that the meeting room still had a fair amount of trainers from earlier still there.

He spotted the professor, deciding what he'd ask her.

"Professor" Izzy called out, catching Lyra's attention.

"I have a few questions about a strange occurrence, which happened to me earlier today." Izzy began.

He explained the earlier events, starting with the Memory he had shared with the Pokémon, to the phrase "Xatu" it had muttered before it had vanished; in hopes of finding some answers.

Savanna Forester

Savanna wasn't having the best day. Actually her day wasn't even mediocre. It was, in fact, an extremely crappy day. She missed her alarm and woke up 4 hours after she should have. Granted, perhaps she shouldn't have stayed up past midnight the previous night.... But that wasn't even the whole of it. Her bus had been late, and so crammed that she arrived at her destination with a minor case of claustrophobia. Nevertheless, and although she arrived in the city remarkably late, she still made it, so at least that was something. Except then she got lost in the large city.

She stopped in an empty alleyway to examine her map. She spent longer than she would have liked to discern her location, and even longer to find the fastest route to the lab. She hadn't noticed the large, unclean man approch her from the back of the alley. "Hey, little lady," he said in a low grumble. "Why don't you just hand over your purse so that we can avoid any... troubles." He had grabbed her shoulder by this point, making no pretenses about where his eyes roamed over her body.

She reached down to her belt and removed the Pokeball that was there. "How about you leave," she said. "So that you don't have any troubles. Go Honedge." Honedge appeared in a flash of light, humming menacingly. The man seemed apprehensive, but laughed. "Like you would do anything to me."

She glanced towards Honedge, then back to the man. Honedge understood her intent perfectly, and slashed out at the man's legs. Yelping in pain, he let go of her shoulder and she was able to return Honedge and run into the street before he could get up.

She walked out of the alleyway and into the sunshine. The late afternoon sunshine. She was so late! She would have to run if she was even going to get there before dark. She ran quickly through the streets and managed to find her way to the lab. She burst into the lab.

The professor looked just like her pictures. An older woman, but still pretty for that. She seemed to have just finished a presentation, and was conversing with a few of the trainers that had heard her speech. Savanna nervously walked up to Professor Lyra. "I-I'm sorry for being so late. Did I miss anything important?" Savanna hoped that she would be nice and excuse her lateness, but you never could tell...

Hikaru Morioka - Outside The Complex

"Hmm... How about we wander around the Complex and see what kinds off Pokèmon there are?" Hikaru suggested, taking out her PokèDex once more to register Pyre the Torchic. Tnere was a lot of information, but it would've been easier to register Pyre if he'd stopped fidgeting and moving. Tiny chic Pokèmon, huh? She thought to herself, looking back at Pyre. Cynder gave Hikaru a quizzical glance, and she turned back to Kaizen. Traveling together would be more fun, and she'd always have a sparing partner this way. There had to be tons of Pokèmon around the building, and Hikaru couldn't wait to catch a few. The only Pokèmon she'd seen besides Cynder were Caterpie, and she wouldn't mind never seeing them again. With a sigh, Hikaru realized she'd been looking at Kai that whole time, which had probably creeped him out.

"Sorry! I was just thinking.." She said, obviously flustered. She turned away, and signalled Cynder's attention. She hoped Kaizen had decided to follow her, and began to march around the Complex. It was getting dark out, and the sun was dropping, so it would be a good idea to stay overnighy at the Complex. Hikaru couldn't wait to leave, but she also wanted to catch a few Pokèmon before she left.

"Hey Kai. Let's add each other to our PokèGear. Here's my Gear number." She said showing him the number, and taking his.

***

Hikaru wandered around the outside of the Complex, and blinked a few times when a dark figure sped across her line of vision. It was startling at first, but then she realized it had to be a Pokèmon. Cynder leapt in front of her, ready to defend his trainer, and Hikaru gave him a smile. She followed the figures path with her eyes, and saw a shadow move once again. Come out already! She thought to herself, taking a few steps closer. Then she heard a growl, and suddenly the figure leapt from the a bush, and tackled Cynder. Taking out her Dex, the name 'Poochyena' popped onto the screen. Alright then!

"I call dibs! Cynder, use Incinerate!" She called to both Kaizen and Cynder. With a loud squeal, Cynder let out a burst of flames, and knocked the the Pokèmon off. Growling, Poochyena tried to intimidate Cynder, but the move missed. Cynder smirked, and looked back to Hikaru for a command. The Poochyena looked fine, but it then looked like it was in pain. That's what it is! It's a burn! She thought with a smirk.

"Use tackle Cynder!"

Cynder obeyed, and charaged the Poochyena, who managed to dodge it. Taking the offensive, and ignoring it's burn, Poochyena charged Cynder. Leaping on him, Poochyena made a fierce bite on the Pyro mouses' neck. Cynder cried in pain, bucking and squirming in an attempt to knock the Pokèmon off. Cynder!

"S-smokescreen! Use Smokescreen, Cynder!" Hikaru called worriedly. Cynder managed to calm himself, and filled the area with smoke particles. The battlefield became a gray cloud, which lowered Poochyena's accuracy. Hikaru could barely see Cynder, but she could tell the Poochyena had let go when the smoke had formed. There was no point in throwing a pokèball until the smoke cleared, so she once again took the offensive.

"Spin and use Incinerate!"

Cynder built a small flame in his mouth, and began to spin. When the flame was big enough he shout a beam in every direction until he heard a cry. When he heard the cry, he focused on it's direction. The smoke had lifted, and Poochyena was now charging Cynder weakly. Using it's tackle, Poochyena managed to ake Cynder roll back. Cynder hopped to his feet ready to attack again, but Hikaru stopped him.

"Here goes!" She called, launching a pokèball at the now weakened Pokèmon. She walked up to the pokèball, and knelt beside it to watch it shake.

"Since you seem to be familiar with this strange group, may I ask you to contact me once you reach Goldenrod, should you ever run into the group again? I honestly had no idea there was an entire group of them living in a city," the professor said to Josh, looking quite alarmed about the subject.

"Oh, alright. Thank you for the stuff, Professor Lyra, and thank you for being so kind!" Josh said to the professor with a smile.

He then thought about all of the amazing adventures he was going to have, and all of the Pokemon he was going to catch, and all the battles he was going to have!

"Come on, Chestnut, let's go into the world of Pokemon!" Josh cried out as he ran towards the door to the exit of the lab. The Spiny Nut Pokemon nodded and ran for the door at the same pace her owner was.

Suddenly, the was a boy in his way of his grand exit. "What the-" he cried out right before slamming into the boy's side. The boy's Torchic cried out as the sudden stranger slammed into his trainer.

"Hey! What the heck are you doin', standin' right at the door, makin' me slam into ya!" Josh said to the boy in the most slangiest way he could.

Evelyn Green

Evelyn sighed as she finally reached Cianwood City. She reached up and pulled her Zorua off of her head. "Isn't this exciting, Rosie?" she asked. Rosie yawned and shrugged. She climbed back onto Evelyn's head and curled up to take a nap. Evelyn rolled her eyes and started towards the Professor's lab, knowing that she was late. Possibly very late. It wasn't really her fault, though. It took almost forever to convince her mother to let her leave home.

Evelyn reached up and petted Rosie. "Do you think we'll meet a bunch of people and Pokemon? Oh, it doesn't matter! We're finally free!" She started coughing a little and stopped walking. Rosie jumped down from her head and frowned. Evelyn laughed. "I'm fine, silly!" she said. Rosie growled softly. Evelyn smiled and started to run the rest if the way to the Professor's lab, Rosie at her heels.

She regretted it the second she got there. Evelyn took her backpack off and fumbled around in it until she found her inhaler. She tried to avoid making eye contact with Rosie, but failed. The fox looked at her with a smug look on her face. Evelyn took a few puffs from her inhaler and put it back into her backpack. Rosie climbed back onto her head. Evelyn took a deep breath and walked into the lab. She gasped when she saw the professor and ran up to her. "Hello there! I'm so excited! Did I miss anything?" She said excitedly.

Kazuki Takemura:
Getting Things and Going Places

Kaz casually sat back and watched as everyone approached the Professor and got their stuff, and listened intently to Lyra's speech. It was the general, "Here's your gear and the kind of stuff you'll need," type of speech. He couldn't help but sink to the back of the room. He was waiting for everyone else to get done before he went to get his own stuff. They needed to get first pick, of course! They all looked like such delightful people, although a few of them appeared to be a bit more crude than the others. Kaz shouldered his guitar case and backpack. This'll be fun. Hollow will most definitely make some friends. I bet I will too! A grin came across his face.

He watched as the last person retrieved their starter pack. He strode quickly, first grabbing his PokeDex, then his Pokeballs and Potion, and finally made his way to the PokeGear table. There was only one left: A white one that faded into a red color. Such a beautiful color... Kaz stared at it for a moment, lost in its color. He finally caught himself and looked up to find the Professor. He flushed when he realized that he had not thanked her for the equipment. He gave her a faint smile. "Thank you, Professor." He bowed quickly as he slid his PokeGear into his front pocket. "I'll be going now." Before Lyra could answer, he turned on his heels and made for the door, running quickly until he was out of the building. Phew. That was close. Almost had to have prolonged conversation. It's not like Kaz was afraid of it. It was just a bit strenuous.

Five minutes later, Kaz was well out of the building and was making his way for Cianwood. He would have loved to interact with his fellow trainers, but he felt that there would be plenty of time for that later. There was always time for bonding in the future. He smiled and pulled his guitar from its case without a thought. He reached into his backpack, turned on the amp, and strummed a pleasing chord. What song... He decided with a light, friendly melody. He began to pick strings quickly as he walked, all the time his pace increasing.

"That Pokémon is called Xatu." professor Lyra explained. "It is said that it can see the future with its right eye and the past with its left eye." she went on explaining.

Pausing for a while, Lyra walked about the room, thinking, as if she was trying to figure something out. After a while, she admitted defeat and turned back towards the boy.

"Unfortunately, I don't know why it's following you around. Truth be told, Xatu are mysterious Pokémon and, my guess is, that only you can find out the reason of its stalking you. I'm really sorry I couldn't help you any more than this."

"No, you were right on time" Lyra said with a smile then kindly pointed towards the table. "You may pick a PokéGear of your choice from over there and a Pokédex too. And here's the rest of the Trainer Starter Kit." she went on as she handed the girl an envelope containing her starting money, a small pouch with five Pokéballs in it and a potion.

The professor then went on explaining the functions of the PokéDex and the PokéGear, then quickly resumed her previous activities.

Lyra was already starting to show signs of exhaustion. She had deliberately come in late, hoping that most everyone would already be there by the time of her arrival. She had never been so wrong.

She took a deep breath and turned around to face the newcommer, an adorable girl that looked around the age of 10, accompanied by a Zorua.

"You're right on time!" Lyra giggled and softly patted the girl's Pokémon that seemed to love resting on its trainer's head. "Come with me, please." she then asked the girl and headed towards the table.

Reaching the table, she pointed at the PokéGears that were still available and offered the girl the rest of her Starter kit, carefully explaining the functions of the girl's new gadgets.

"Oh and you're free to spend the night here. The Mountain Route isn't exactly safe at night." she went on as she looked out the window and realized it was already quite late in the afternoon.
