  • This is probably one of the last few HG/SS blogs I'll do (the last ones regarding facing the new E4/Red), so...

As the title states, this blog is solely dedicated to my battles with the Kanto gym leaders in SS, Green excluded.

    VS BROCK

Petal Dance!Meganium loves OHKOs. And I got lucky, too. After she got confused from taking down Brock's second Pokemon, she managed to hit the third and lose the confusion afterwards.

    VS MISTY

Again, Petal Dance!Meganium took her down, though I think I only used her once, since I wanted my Jolteon to gain some more experience.

    VS LT. SURGE

Earthquake!Forretress says hi. Payback was pretty useful too.

    VS ERIKA

    Skarmory says hi here.

    VS JANINE

    See VS ERIKA.

    VS SABRINA

Again, Payback with Forretress comes in handy. However, she did faint when against Alakazam, so Shadow Ball!Vaporeon took care of the rest.

    VS BLAINE

Me being stupid and using Forretress's Stealth Rock and Earthquake here. And actually, it took a while before she was actually taken down. I did have to use Vaporeon as a last resort, however.

So yeah, just some progress made. Also captured Suicune with a Dusk Ball. Anyways, team time:

Haru ~ Female @ Amulet Coin
    Level 54 ; Quiet Nature
    HP 169 / Atk. 106 / Def. 132
    Sp. Atk. 112 / Sp. Def. 121 / Spd. 94
    -Safeguard
    -Synthesis
    -Petal Dance
    -Poisonpowder
Moveset Changes?: Well, I was thinking of possibly switching out Poisonpowder for Toxic once I get enough BP (or trade an unused Toxic from Gen. IV) or something else. Suggestions would be helpful here.

    Undine ~ Female @ Leftovers
    Level 52 ; Modest Nature
    HP 200 / Atk. 83 / Def. 74
    Sp. Atk. 160 / Sp. Def. 113 / Spd. 86
    -Shadow Ball
    -Aqua Ring
    -Ice Beam
    -Surf
Moveset Changes?: Not really planning on it. I like her moves as is.

    Spr_4h_227.png

Gajeel ~ Male @ Muscle Band
    Level 51 ; Quiet Nature
    HP 142 / Atk. 106 / Def. 161
    Sp. Atk. 69 / Sp. Def. 85 / Spd. 78
    -Agility
    -Roost
    -Fly
    -Swords Dance
Moveset Changes?: NO. His combo has helped me win so many battles without having to switch out. I have to admit, though, he isn't the best for the Battle Frontier.

    Spr_4h_078.png

Berlitz ~ Female @ Wide Lens
    Level 50 ; Jolly Nature
    HP 142 / Atk. 117 / Def. 93
    Sp. Atk. 94 / Sp. Def. 89 / Spd. 145
    -Flame Wheel
    -Headbutt
    -Bounce
    -Iron Tail
Moveset Changes?: Flare Blitz is definitely taking Flame Wheel's spot, and I'm thinking of taking out Headbutt for either Megahorn or Poison Jab. I may even take out Iron Tail or Bounce for the other. Suggestions would be helpful here.

    Spr_4h_205.png

    Erza ~ Female @ Brightpowder
    Level 52 ; Bashful Nature
    HP 163 / Atk. 111 / Def. 170
    Sp. Atk. 83 / Sp. Def. 76 / Spd. 66
    -Earthquake
    -Iron Defense
    -Payback
    -Stealth Rock
Moveset Changes?: Which entry hazard is best for her to learn? At this point, I'm thinking of reteaching her Toxic Spikes again, but I dunno. Suggestions would be helpful here.

    Spr_4h_135.png

Elie ~ Female @ Shell Bell
    Level 52 ; Quirky Nature
    HP 140 / Atk. 92 / Def. 71
    Sp. Atk. 136 / Sp. Def. 114 / Spd. 163
    -Charge Beam
    -Thunderbolt
    -Double Kick
    -Attract
Moveset Changes?: Seeing how Charge can't be learned... Double Kick is definitely going, but I dunno if it should be replaced with Thunder Wave with the rest of the moves staying the same, or if I should take Double Kick out for Rain Dance and Thunderbolt out for Thunder. Suggestions would be helpful here.

I really do need suggestions for most my team movesets here, so it'd really be nice if someone responded to this entry ._.

  • I actually took down Koga (along with Bruno and Karen) with the same strategy when I first took on the E4, so that's probably why I was thinking of him instead XD

And hey, Janine and Koga ARE related...

  • Regarding Elie: She's a bit too frail to spend a turn casting Rain Dance first, especially when up against something like Gyarados' Waterfall:/ Rain Dance + Thunder with Jolteon works better when you have a bulkier Pokemon setting up the rain. Thunderbolt's PAR rate is low, so whether you want to have Thunder Wave for the guaranteed paralysis is your call. I'd perhaps also look into her Hidden Power type.
