It's that time of year again: Thanksgiving. Where we get together, have a feast, and thank God for all that He has done for us and the Pilgrims years ago.
This is a recreation of the story about the people of the Mayflower sailed to the New World and creating a new colony. In this form, explorers make a voyage to a new region that has been discovered before. But now, these people want to inhabit it and discover the new Pokémon that could be awaiting.
(Note: I mean no offense to any religion or historical accuracy with this literature!)
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Journey to a New Region
Written by: TJgamer
{Part 1/2: The Voyage}
In years of old,
When many were bold,
Explorers sought of a new region,
With mysteries untold.
Few say that there are Pokémon there,
New species to compare,
Children imagined this,
Of the strange creatures that dwell there.
The lord of such high grand,
Wanted the unknown land,
So he formed a voyage,
A journey was at hand.
Fifty men got on board,
As commanded by their lord,
Four Pokémon they each had,
In case of a savage horde.
As the crew said farewell,
The tower rang its bell,
The sails opened up,
And the families wished them well.
The journey was to be dangerous,
The outcomes could be hazardous,
But everyone was to keep faith,
And bear what would be onerous.
SEPTEMBER 6, 1620
The docks we have left,
We breathed the ocean's weft,
The endless passage of water,
Of islands and landscapes, it was bereft.
SEPTEMBER 15, 1620
Eleven days since our depart,
Everyone did their part,
I think the voyage will succeed,
As long as we keep heart.
SEPTEMBER 26, 1620
The watery waves had us nauseous,
The effects were odious,
It's fortunate that our Pokémon,
In the Pokéballs, luxurious.
Likewise the Pokémon of the sea,
In the blue depths, they live happily,
How we wished to catch a few,
But Pokémon meat was not our specialty.
OCTOBER 5, 1620
Our rations were running low,
Hunger was our biggest foe,
How much father until landing,
None of us would know.
We had no choice but to fish,
Some Magikarp we wish,
But our luck has turned down,
Only small portions on our dish.
OCOTBER 11, 1620
Storms broke all around,
A broken sail we found,
No man could climb up,
With such weather abound.
We figured out what to do,
We sent our Pokémon that flew.
Up, up, up they soared,
And fixed up the sails like new.
A disaster happened soon after that,
One of the sailors fell out from a great impact,
Quickly we sent a speedy Seaking,
And saved him just like that.
OCTOBER 24, 1620
Yet when things looked bad,
Our captain kept our faith glad,
Hoping that the Lord will keep us safe,
And prosper like we had.
He could tell we were near,
In tales of an explorer's year,
He found a strange new region,
So we should not have fear.
NOVEMBER 9, 1620
"Land Ho!" The watcher yelled.
We all saw that he wasn't having us gulled.
A vast landscape was seen afar,
And soon the anchor was felled.
NOVEMBER 11, 1620
Before we commenced our act,
We signed a Compact,
To tell us how to survive,
And to work together, in fact.
Please know that I did not put everything in full detail, for this is a poetic work and I tended to make it brief.
