  • Chapter 1

A solitary figure emerged from tunnel leading towards the arena. Her long blonde hair covered just enough of her face to block her left eye. The enormous crowd gathered at the Lily of the Valley stadium cheered as the champion slowly made her way to the battle field. Dressed in all black, she prepared to face her opponent.
All around the Sinnoh region people waited to see the champion take on the young challenger.

In a small Pokémon centre on the port of Canalave City of group of Pokémon trainers gather to watch the epic confrontation. A young boy with spiky hair sat on the edge of his seat. The constant tapping of feet annoyed his companions as well as the Pikachu on his shoulder. A blue haired girl with a Piplup on her head lectured the boy on the value of patience. Their older friend had become distracted by Nurse Joy and drifted away from the conversation. In the back of the Pokémon centre of another young boy with purple hair shook his head in disgust as he watched the others.

The noise in the stadium was deafening as match was set to begin. "Ladies, gentlemen and children of all ages, today we bring you a very special exhibition match. Our Sinnoh League champion, Cynthia will face the champion of a far away land. And without further ado let's welcome the challenger." The match official announced to the stadium. A hush fell over the capacity crowd as they prepared for the challenger to appear. "Welcome Sean Drakims, The champion of the Wodahs Region."

"Wodahs Region?" Cynthia mumbled to herself as she prepared to battle. People across the Sinnoh asked themselves the same question, unsure of the Wodahs Region. The challenger slowly walked out of the tunnel holding his hand above his head, shielding his eyes from the light. Cynthia stared at her opponent, he was dressed so casually. Blue jeans with a plain black shirt. Half his shirt was tucked into his belt while the other half hung out. His hair was long and spiky but untidy.

"This guy looks more like a chump than a champ. This should be easy for Cynthia." The supporters in stadium whispered to each other. The stadium erupted as Cynthia selected her first Pokémon. The Sinnoh champion decided to start the six on six battle with her strongest Pokémon.

Cynthia threw her pokeball into the battle field. The ball landed in the middle of the field and released her Garchomp. The roar of crowd grew with arrival of Garchomp. A small smile grew on the face of the challenger as he activated what looked like a purple pokeball. Sean gently tossed the pokeball into the battle field.

A bright flash of black light released the Pokémon contained inside. The light dissipated revealing a large fox-like Pokémon. The strange Pokémon's body was blackish-gray. The redness of its eyes and mouth made the Pokémon seem fierce. It's large, red mane glistened in the suns light. The Pokémon had sharp red claws on its long arms and muscular legs.

A stunned silence fell over the entire stadium. Very few people in the Sinnoh had seen a Pokémon like this. Cynthia had never battled against a Pokémon like this. She found herself in unfamiliar territory but she liked it.

Everyone in the Canalave City Pokémon centre rose to their feet, shocked as the camera zoomed in on the foreign Pokémon. The boy with the Pikachu began shouting at the TV screen as his friends tried calming him down. The purple haired boy from the back walked over to join them.

In the stadium Cynthia prepared to battle, thoughts raced through her head. She was almost certain she was facing a dark type Pokémon but she had to be sure. "Just to give you a sporting chance I'll tell you a little about my Pokémon." Sean gloated. "This is Zoroark, and he will be more than enough for you."

The challengers boasting made Cynthia mad; it had been years since anyone had gotten under her skin like this. Throwing caution to the wind she decided to attack head on. "Garchomp use Dragon rush." Cynthia shouted as the crowd found their voice again.

Garchomp flew into the air and began gathering energy. Its body then became enveloped in a blue aura with the dark blue streaks. The dragon Pokémon began diving with Zoroark as the target. The aura began swirling as it got closer to its target.

"Block with night slash." Sean ordered calmly. Zoroark lifted its arm as its claws began to glow a dark shade of red.

The dragon rush collided with the night slash. A massive explosion ripped across the battle field raising clouds of sand. Garchomp was sent hurling back towards its trainer due to recoil. Cynthia waited for the dust to clear to see the damage done to Zoroark.

Much to the champion's horror, Zoroark stood in exact position it was before the dragon rush hit it. Zoroark was completely unfazed by one of the strongest attacks Garchomp had. "End this with focus blast." Sean ordered.

Zoroark raised both its arms over its head and gathered a ball of blue energy. When the energy ball began to shine, Zoroark launched it at the tired Garchomp. Cynthia shouted at her Pokémon to move but it was unable. The dragon Pokémon had taken damage from dragon rush and night slash. The focus blast hit Garchomp in the chest causing a bright explosion. When the light faded Garchomp was down and out.

Silence once again filled the stadium. Shocked expressions were painted across the faces of the Sinnoh region. Cynthia ran to her fallen Pokémon's side.

"You did the best you could." She said to Garchomp as she returned it to its pokeball.

"I I..." Cynthia stuttered as she turned to the referee. "I concede defeat."
