  • I thought this would be a good time to make a thread about Lily Allen since here new single just came out, she did a cover of Britney Spears' Womanizer, and her new CD comes out in February.

First of all I think she is one of the best pop artists of the 2000's and she has some of the best hooks in her songs. So what do you guys think of her?

Here is her new single, The Fear (from the new album It's Not You, It's Me):

Also here is her cover of Britney Spears' song Womanizer:

  • I love Lily Allen, I don't know much about her besides that her music is brilliant.
I only have a couple of her songs, but I intend on getting a whole heap more!

  • I like Lilly Allen, I went through a phase where I LOVED her, but now I really only listen to Alfie-
I'm sure I'd go back to really liking her if I put her whole first album back on my mp3 player... but hard to say.

EDIT: Just listened her cover of Womanizer- and I don't like it. The song is too pop-ish initially to work with her voice and I didn't really like the song to begin with and the other song isn't working.

  • Yeah, I know what you mean about her voice not going with the song, but to me it is a nice take on it. Britney Spears' version is so electronic, it is kinda refreshing to hear such an organic version of it.

Also, I fixed the video for "The Fear" in the first post.

First, let me state, that at many points in the past, I have been obsessed with this girl. Lily Allen used to be my top listened artist back on my really old Last.fm account, and I remember going on iTunes and YouTube for new content. I thought, sadly, that she left the music business. But when she rerecorded Smile in Simlish, the language used in The Sims, I got hope and now.. she's releasing her own content again. Lily Allen's first album was sheer genius in my opinion. The same goes for her. I believe she is a sheer genius with attitude that will rock anybody and a voice to go with it. I see, from the first video of The Fear, that her attitude has lightened in her songs as much.. less aggressiveness, which is somewhat upsetting to me since that's what I fell in love with in terms of musical aspects of her. Hopefully her other songs have some aggressive spark in them.

With someone with an extremely strong Brittish acent, I'm actually very suprised that she even attempted to do a cover of Womanizer. I believe she did a wonderful job in covering Womanizer. Though her accent got the best of her at some points, that may have been the point. With that said, I don't think there's much more for me to say.

I like her Womanizer version actually. I ever really liked most of her songs. Just the one with Common.

  • Yeah the Womanizer cover was actually quite good, bit different from the original which is always good if it is pulled off well, which it was.

Drivin Me Wild was a really good song, that was on repeat on my iPod for like weeks after it came out. "There's this thing now, it's drivin me wild..." LOVE IT.

LOL, for those who haven't heard it:
