Trying to build a good Mega Mawile team, looking for some advice.

    Mawile
    move 1: Swords Dance
    move 2: Sucker Punch
    move 3: Fire Fang
    move 4: Play Rough
    item: Mawilite
    ability: Intimidate
    nature: Adamant
    evs: 128 HP / 252 Atk / 128 Spe

    Scolipede
    move 1: Swords Dance
    move 2: Protect
    move 3: Spikes
    move 4: Baton Pass
    item: Focus Sash
    ability: Sped Boost
    nature: Careful
    evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

    Excadrill
    move 1: Rapid Spin
    move 2: Earthquake
    move 3: Rock Slide
    move 4: Brick Break
    item: Assault Vest
    ability: Mold Breaker
    nature: Adamant
    evs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 96 Def

Can send out Scolipede with no entry hazards and get bare minimum +2 on spe and atk with sword dance, protect, and baton pass if they don't have priority moves. Pass to Mawile or Excadrill and try to sweep. If there's entry hazards, try to get in Excadrill and spin, then scolipede (after Excadrill dies, maybe) and pass to Mawile.

That's my basic gameplan I want to use. Any tips on other team members I should have, or other pokemon I need to look out for/take care of before I can safely set up the sweep?

  • I don't get why Scolipede has a bulky spread. Even though Speed Boost makes its high Speed overkill, it needs a faster spread to get the jump on other opponents pre-Speed Boost:
    -Megahorn
    -Spikes/Toxic Spikes
    -Swords Dance/Toxic Spikes
    -Baton Pass/Earthquake/Rock Slide
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
    Item: Focus Sash
    Ability: Speed Boost

    or
    -Swords Dance/Iron Defense
    -Protect
    -Substitute
    -Baton Pass
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 248 HP/208 SDef/52 Spe
    Item: Black Sludge
    Ability: Speed Boost

Brick Break is redundant with Excadrill's Earthquake. It has better coverage options than that:
    -Earthquake
    -Iron Head/Rock Slide
    -Rapid Spin
    -Stealth Rock/Swords Dance
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
    Item: Chople Berry/Air Balloon
    Ability: Mold Breaker

    or
    -Earthquake
    -Iron Head
    -Rock Slide/Shadow Claw/X-Scissor
    -Rapid Spin
    Nature: Adamant/Jolly
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
    Item: Choice Scarf/Assault Vest
    Ability: Mold Breaker

This team is weak to Fire big-time. A Water resist like Goodra, Noivern, Dragonite, Wash Rotom, Vaporeon, Greninja, etc. are good fits on the team:

    Goodra:
    -Draco Meteor

    -Thunderbolt/Sludge Bomb

    Nature: Modest/Quiet
    EVs: 248 HP/252 SAtk/8 SDef
    Item: Choice Specs/Assault Vest
    Ability: Gooey/Sap Sipper

    or
    -Dragon Pulse
    -Flamethrower
    -Thunderbolt
    -Toxic/Dragon Tail
    Nature: Calm/Sassy
    EVs: 248 HP/8 Def/252 SDef
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Gooey/Sap Sipper

    Noivern:
    -Draco Meteor
    -Flamethrower
    -Focus Blast
    -U-turn/Switcheroo/Hurricane
    Nature: Naive/Timid
    EVs: 4 Atk/252 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Choice Specs
    Ability: Frisk/Infiltrator

    or
    -Draco Meteor

    -Focus Blast
    -U-turn/Roost/Dragon Pulse
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 4 Def/252 SAtk/252 Spe

    Ability: Frisk/Infiltrator

    Dragonite:
    -Dragon Dance
    -Dragon Claw/Outrage
    -Extreme Speed
    -Fire Punch/Thunder Punch/Earthquake
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 24 HP/252 Atk/232 Spe
    Item: Lum Berry/Weakness Policy
    Ability: Multiscale

    Vaporeon:
    -Wish
    -Protect
    -Scald
    -Ice Beam/Toxic/Roar
    Nature: Bold
    EVs: 248 HP/252 Def/8 SDef
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Water Absorb

    Wash Rotom:
    -Volt Switch
    -Hydro Pump
    -Will-o-Wisp
    -Pain Split/Rest
    Nature: Bold
    EVs: 248 HP/216 Def/44 Spe
    Item: Leftovers/Chesto Berry

    or
    -Volt Switch

    -Will-o-Wisp
    -Pain Split/Thunderbolt
    Nature: Modest
    EVs: 228 HP/60 SAtk/220 Spe
    Item: Leftovers

    or
    -Volt Switch

    -Hidden Power (Ice)/Thunderbolt
    -Trick

    EVs: 4 Def/252 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Choice Scarf

    Greninja:

    Item: Life Orb/Expert Belt
    Ability: Protean

    or
    -Spikes/Toxic Spikes
    -Hydro Pump/Surf
    -Ice Beam/Extrasensory/Dark Pulse
    -U-turn/Taunt/Hidden Power (Fire)
    Nature: Timid

    Item: Focus Sash/Life Orb

I don't get why Scolipede has a bulky spread. Even though Speed Boost makes its high Speed overkill, it needs a faster spread to get the jump on other opponents pre-Speed Boost

His Scolipede has a bulky EV spread so it can survive long enough to get the boosts and then Baton Pass. He's not using it in an offensive manner. It's sole purpose is to pass boosts.

Mega Mawile doesn't reall need the stuff Scolipede Baton Passes, though. With Huge Power, max Attack EVs, an Adamant nature, its own Swords Dance, and Sucker Punch, Mega Mawile has a ****-ton of power (and a priority move to migitate its low Speed).

As Platinum pointed out, your team is currently really weak to fire. I'd say take Exacadrill off the team. It's nice, yes, but lets put a fire-resisitant spinner on your team, like Starmie or Tentacruel:

    -Starmie w/Life Orb
    Nature: Timid
    Ability: Natural Cure
    EVs: 252 Sp.Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Defense
Moves: Hydro Pump/Surf, Rapid Spin, Ice Beam, Psyshock/Thunderbolt

    or

    -Starmie w/Leftovers
    Nature: Timid
    Ability: Natural Cure
    EVs: 248 HP, 32 Defense, 4 Sp.Attack, 224 Speed
Moves: Scald, Rapid Spin, Recover, Psyshock/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam

    -Tentacruel w/Black Sludge
    Nature: Timid
    Ability: whatever floats yer boat
    EVs: 248 HP, 244 Defense, 16 Speed
Moves: Rapid spin, Scald, Toxic/Toxic Spikes, Sludge Bomb

It's also not a bad idea to have something to deal with Pokemon that use Ground attacks (since Mega Mawile don't like them EQs, and ground is a very common attacking type).

Noivern, Rotom-Wash, and Vaporeon can do that fairly well. A few other things to consider might be: Gengar, MixMence, Hydreigon, Gyarados, etc.
