  • Hey there guys; I decided to remake the The Official PokeCommunity Adoption Center thread in TWL, which I'll open up soon. If you're not sure what that is, it's basically something where new members can partner up with mentors, and these mentors can show their mentees around PC, answering general questions about the forum, and becoming like sorta a rolemodel for them at sorts! And all other sorts of things. But before that, we're going to need some mentors for this!

Soo, basic question, would anyone be interested in becoming a mentor for this adoption thread? If so, then, just express your interest in this thread, alongside how active you can be, and what sorts of things you can help your mentee's in.

It's not necessary, but, if you're stuck, you can use this as a sort of guide for you:

    1) What time zone do you reside in?
    2) What board(s) of PC do you frequent?
    3) How long have you been posting there?
    4) Why do you want to be a Mentor?
    5) What sort of areas can you help the mentee in? (eg general forum guidence, or other specifics)

I'll be always looking for active members who show eagerness and reliability on teaching their mentees. Be prepared that it'll take a bit of dedication and initiative in your part~! Anywho, again, if your interested, just let me know here!

    1) Central Time Zone, America
2)Pokemon General, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, and Progressing hacks
    3) Since I joined basically.
    4) I really love helping people anyway I can. I love PC so much and I'd love to help newcomers find the joy that awaits them.
    5) I could totally help mentee in the area of general forum guidance. Not only that, but I could also help in many other areas!

I hope I am accepted as a mentor! I've always wanted to help people like the Mods do. Even if it's with a single person!

  • I always wanted to be a mentor in the previous adoption center, and sadly I never got a chance to so to see it make a comeback surely is welcome given the new generation. But aside from that, here's my sign-up!

    1) GMT +10 (I'm in the eastern part of Australia)
    2) Pokémon Clubs, and a few Pokémon Gaming sections (specifically Fifth Gen, Fourth Gen, X & Y and Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire) and even a few off-topic sections to a lesser extent. I'm also comfortable with a global role, albeit there are some sections I may struggle with , but for those sections i don't know as much I can always direct them to the resident mod if needed.
    3) Pretty much since joining, but I think in recent months posting activity has really been better than before.
    4) I always like to be a helping hand, and it's also very fun! But also I love PC so much and I like to help the new guys enjoy the forum as much as I do, plus it's a great opportunity to make new friends.
    5) I'm good with general forum guidance, I can help in other areas as well if the section in question is one I'm very active in.

Let's hope this time I finally get the chance to shine, because I always like to lend a hand and it can help me make so many new friends with the newcomers. And if they have friends, they'll know they are enjoying the forums!

  • Let's see what I can do:

    1) What time zone do you reside in? EST Time Zone (it's 7 PM in Pennsylvania as i'm typing this)
    2) What board(s) of PC do you frequent? Areas like Pokémon Gaming Central, Trade Corner, Challenges, the Sixth Generation forums, and the past generations like fifth and fourth. General Chat is where I have the most posts, and i've posted a lot in Culture and Media too (although over half my posts in C&M are in WAYLT), but the Pokémon forums are where i'm most adequate in.
    3) How long have you been posting there? I first joined in relatively late 2013, but my posting started blowing up on the scene in early 2014.
    4) Why do you want to be a Mentor? So I can try to get new members to enjoy discussing Pokémon here, and to possibly see the various aspects of the forum that they might enjoy. (Except ROM Hacking.)
    5) What sort of areas can you help the mentee in? I think I could help with generally guiding people through certain parts of the forum, and attempt to get them to check out other non-Pokémon related parts if they're interested in them.

Wonder how much good this does you! Thanks.

  • I suppose I could give this a go xD

    1) What time zone do you reside in? - UTC/GMT +8
    2) What board(s) of PC do you frequent? - I primarily frequent the Roleplay Corner but I often visit General Chat, Discussion and Debates and Forum games and I have been known to visit Pokemon General (also does the Battle Server count?)
    3) How long have you been posting there? I started posting in the RPC not too long after joining and the rest just sort of followed on eventually.
    4) Why do you want to be a Mentor? - Because I want to become more involved in the community
    5) What sort of areas can you help the mentee in? (eg general forum guidence, or other specifics) - I think I could be of help with general forum guidance and certainly of help regarding the previously mentioned sections - especially the RPC. For anything I don't know I can just point my mentee to the appropriate mod or a more knowledgeable member in that area. Also I can do a little CSS.

The Welcome Lounge, Anime & Manga, Video Games and General Chat. I dabble in Culture & Media and Pokemon General, as well.

    3) How long have you been posting there?
    Since October 2014~

    4) Why do you want to be a Mentor?
It gives me a chance to assist new members beyond just welcoming them to the forums. I mean, you can point them in the general direction they're interested in, and there are plenty of helpful links, but it's just nice to know there is a specific member you can turn to for help. For me, the reassurances and contact with others was enough, but that isn't the case for all members. Being a mentor sounds like it'd be an interesting experience, too~

    5) What sort of areas can you help the mentee in? (eg general forum guidence, or other specifics)

Whichever area I'm needed in? Obviously I don't have specialist knowledge for things like hacking, but I can point people in the right direction and help them learn things.

Again, for anyone who hasn't signed up for one yet, you're more than welcome to anytime.

Mmm, before I accept you, I'd like to see you be a bit more active. D:

For now, I'll put you in pending. Other than that, everything looks okay!

Also be wary when I say a little CSS I mean a tiny, tiny, tiny smidge.

  • I'd feel really bad for whoever gets me as a mentor since I'm pretty boring, but I think it'd be fun :p

    1) What time zone do you reside in? UTC -5
    2) What board(s) of PC do you frequent? Video Games, FC&G, General Chat, Challenges (sometimes), Pokemon Trivia, Forum Games, Culture and Media, Anime and Manga
    3) How long have you been posting there? Since about March of last year I think
    4) Why do you want to be a Mentor? It'd be a fun experience and a good way to get to know some new people
    5) What sort of areas can you help the mentee in? General guidance, signature making (the extent of my CSS knowledge), whatever they need help with I guess.

  • Interesting that this should come up at this point in my life. I don't want to overextend myself, but I can commit two or three evenings a week. Possibly more than that in the future, but I can't say for sure. Time zone is UTC -6 (central standard time, US & Canada).

I'm committed to growing as a person, and for a recluse like me, that entails making efforts to socialize. True, it's not the same as face-to-face communication, but it's a step in the right direction. Recently I've found myself willing and able to help those around me take some of the steps I've taken to get to a better place, which is where this mentoring thing comes in for me. I know that's a bit deep for a Pokémon forum, but that's how I roll :]

I originally joined PC because it had the only active breeding club I could find, and I wanted to move past solo breeding. The club is in a bit of a quiet spell right now, but I've been active for some time and started as co-owner after the original club tanked.

I soon branched into Discussions and Debates because intellectual stuff is my forté. I have an active Trade Shop that I started recently, have been hanging around Challenges for quite a while, and I occasionally drop into the Game Development forum to see if there are any questions I can answer. I've learned enough of OOP in C++ and AS3 to be literate, though maybe not fluent.

Other than that I post randomly here and there. I'm sure that if I don't know the answer to something, I can find someone here who does.

  • Alright, here's my attempt at a bio.

I've lived a complex life, where my real-life behavior has waved from very aggressive in earlier years to nicer attitudes now, but I am not very good with starting conversations or finding people to talk to. And I get sensitive to certain things, so I might lash out at matters that are probably less necessary than they appear. But I can try to start conversations and find topics to discuss, as I am always willing to attempt to meet new people here.

I primarily came from Marriland's forums, and I still do but this is my main residence now. I originally joined PC in 2013 after clicking on a video of the final battle of a challenge run that came from here, so that was what I did for a little while. Come the beginning of 2014, I drifted over to the Trade Corner and did a lot of trading there, which allowed me to complete my National Pokédex in X days before the release of Pokémon Bank. In the summer of that year, I didn't hang out in TC as much, but I still gravitate towards their every so often. My main hangouts here are the Pokémon Gaming forums, including current and past generations (except the competitive forums, which I don't really do), and more recently, Pokémon Clubs. Other than those I do have plenty of posts in other hobbies such as Culture and Media, Technology and Internet, and General Chat, with occasional visits to Discussion and Debates.

Back to the Pokémon front, for what it's worth, my favorite generation is the fifth generation, with sixth not far behind (and just as a quick warning, if you're a fan of BW but hate/don't play B2W2 for stupid reasons like its story or think it's the same thing as BW, then I highly suggest you don't talk to me). I generally don't like to give out my FC, but if you're looking for any Pokémon in particular or want assistance with trading, then I can try to help with anything regarding that.

    Hope this is sufficient. Thanks!

Ummmmm.. I think you need to fix your bio a bit. xD

Might be a LITTLE bit uninviting. D:

I know I said I'd start the program sooner, but.. it felt a little rushed at first, so, I'll officially open it on this Friday morning, if everyone's okay with that.

Oh yeah for sure. I know my way around here fairly well, and my family thinks I'm a Pokémon encyclopedia. I just want people to know I can help with personal stuff if needed. I'll rework that bio a bit tomorrow and pm it to you.

  • Uh, so yeah, if you want to remove that snippet from my bio then go ahead, I was trying to put in something about how I socialize with others and that i'm not completely adept at it. But I think i'll revise that later if necessary.

Okay but, If you want to be a mentor, I want you to try and be as adaptable as you can be - because obviously we're gonna have a bunch of new members, right? Try to do your best. :3

  • You know what? Never mind. I don't think i'm going to be very good at helping new people here if I need to be adaptable. And I also think I wouldn't be able to make a bio that shows that I can really provide anything much to the newbies. So if I can call it off at this point, then i'd like to. Sorry for the inconvenience. x(
