Money is something that all of us wish we can get more of. I've been unemployed since finishing college...it's hard to get a job that I could enjoy doing. My problem stems from the idea that the more money you have, the better off you are, which is one thing what people that advocate for higher minimum wages believe in (the whole thing about the higher cost of living, I'm not talking about those folks; they likely have a valid point). The problem is, when you suddenly have more money...you want more stuff, and that puts you right back in a situation where you need more money to afford the more lavish lifestyle you chose to have when you did get more money. People need to be able to live within their means, and I think most people failed to do that. People should prioritize saving up for retirement and emergency funds and trying to pay off bills rather than getting the latest and greatest in technology or fashion.
For the reasons listed earlier, the idea of the US adopting a socialism policy (which is what Democrats want), is scary to me. Why should my hard-earned money go towards someone that thinks the government will provide all of their financial needs and just lies around doing nothing all day?
