My new kitty's name?

  • What should we name him?

About 5 days ago my mom and I were at a gas station, I went to throw away my powerade bottle into the dumpster outside but as I approached the dumpster I heard faint meowing, there were 2 kittens that we think were about <9weeks old, they were trapped, dehydrated and their mother was no where in sight, so we took them home and gave them water and food, they could eat and they both seemed to be doing very well, but on Saturday we woke up and the second one was dead, we made an appointment for the kitten still alive to go to the vet tomarrow and we decided to keep him, but we have no clue what to name him. Any ideas?

    -He's very very hyper
-He's very vocal (meows a lot)
    -He's always getting into things
-He's always climbing the curtains and going on top of things D:<
-Half of his face is white and half of it is black
-He has white paws but one of his rear paws has a black spot on the white right on the heel.
-He has a solid white stripe down from his chin to his back legs and run down to his paws.

I'm looking for something not too common and over used.

He may not be the cutest cat in the world but I still love him.
Also excuse the mess in the bg we were stripping the bed while I took these.
PHOTOS ARE TOO BIG. D: sorry. :c

I find Hecate to be a great name, like the above user. I think she was also a Goddess... I'll check. Yep, goddess of crossroads. And magic.

  • Haha what a story! My pair actually took in two kittens this past week, too. Him and I named the little one Lemonade (she's a yellow cat) and the slightly older one is Sophie.

If he's black and white maybe think of items that are, too.. and not the usual "Oreo" or "Domino" but maybe something like "Roulette" or something to do with dice? "BlackJack"?

*_* I actually think Roulette is a pretty name for a girl..

I dunno.. maybe think along those lines?

And don't name it something lame and weeaboo if there's no purpose to it. Just ends up sounding weird when you call out to him. Though if it's generally a pretty foreign name then go for it!

    Just my opinion.

  • Naming a cat is a very important endeavor! In fact, I will have to call upon T. S. Eliot to show you how (from his book Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats):

The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
    It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey--
All of them sensible everyday names.
There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter--
But all of them sensible everyday names.
But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?
Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum-
Names that never belong to more than one cat.
But above and beyond there's still one name left over,
    And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover--
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
    His ineffable effable
    Effanineffable
    Deep and inscrutable singular Name.

    ;)

Based on your description, I would call the cat MJ. It made me think of Michael Jackson. xD That aside, I actually think it would be a good name for a cat.
