Sulking sluggishly, the lone Quilladin walked the familiar, shadowed track for the last time. You see, he'd been sacked as his job as a lumberjack by his boss, Xatu. Unfortunately, he'd caused such a ruckus on his way out, that he had been barred from the establishment, and he'd left his lucky amethyst!
Later in the evening, his daughter, Budew, decided to console him, upon noticing his apparent distress. After her father opened up to her, she concocted a plan to help him out with her best friend, Hoppip! Though Budew had thought up a more than stellar ploy, Hoppip, who considered himself somewhat of a comedian... hadn't.
As the duo reached the forest, they noticed a foul stench emanating from the area, and a Competing Canopy fighting for Control of the treetops. On one of the lower branches was an Aipom who stared at the duo, before dropping down to ask the to a question, causing them to trip into a puddle of sap.
"WAAAAHH BUZNIZZ DYOO AV EEERE *hic*?" came his query, the alcohol on his breath almost causing a nearby plant to wilt.
"We've um come here to uhh-"
"TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR FOREST!" Budew, startled by the sudden question began, though she was cut off by Hoppip.
Suddenly a cold, sticky substance began to cover the two grass pokémon, causing them to be fixed in place. Confident that it'd served it's purpose, the Wurmple waddled away, back to Xatu.
"What are we supposed to do?" The budding young pokémon whispered to Hoppip. "How are we meant to get my father's amethyst from the tree?"

Xatu smirked. As his green feathers returned to the usual smooth state, and his eyes started becoming deglazed he spoke a single word.
"Quilladin."
Regrettably, Xatu had tried create a facade, by implementing a "Bring your child to work" day. He cursed under his breath as a spherical green bird flew up to him, & perched on his head.
"FAWA! WHY IS WILLADWIN COMING HERE."
"Natu, my precognition manifested a future in which we had an abundance of amethysts, now begone unless you want us to be poor!"
"B-B-BUT FAWAAAA" The natu began, tears forming in his eyes
"Fine." Snapped the larger bird, "Do as you wish."

In a large grove, an abundance of workers were gathered, jovially labouring. One Oddish and a Gloom were cultivating seeds, ready to sell to the common masses. They sung a cheery tune, until the Gloom tripped, scattering a little myriad of seeds across the foliage. This seemed to anger a nearby Ledian who reacted like a chemical in a lab, cutting cleanly across the apparent calm of the clearing. Ultimately, she was brought to her usual mellow state, though not before aiming a punch at the oddish.
Though the commotion had caused a temporary disturbance, the pokémon quickly regained their previous pace. Quilladin, and his partner Ursaring, where working together to clear out a further area of the forest, as the communal kitchen needed to be upgraded, after the new hires. It hadn't been a minute after they'd felled their first tree, that a Chatot burst through some branches, screeching that Quilladin had to have a conference with Xatu.
Though he was confused, Quilladin quickly gathered his few belongings, though a pink stone rolled out without him noticing. Sheepishly, he entered his boss' copse, sitting down on an auburn log.
"Quilladin, I'm afraid that it's come to my attention that with our latest venture into business, that this company has acquired Rhydon, who shall be making you redundant. To reiterate, I'm sorry, but you'll be forced to say your final goodbyes now." The stoic totem was stood on the other side of a makeshift table, directly looking Quilladin in the eye. Interrupting his father, Natu hopped onto the table, and with a ruffle of his feathers began a shout.
"ACTCHOWEE HE WANTS YOUR STO-"
"That'll be enough of that, Natu. Now, any questions?"
"Why didn't you warn me about this bullshit!?"
"Excuse me? This wasn't an easy or planned out decision."
"IT WAS!"
"Silence Natu!" Xatu raised his voice for the first time, before turning back to Quilladin, whose face had adorned an expression of rage.
Quilladin raised his stubby arms, before striking down on the table with a needle arm, causing it to collapse & Natu to concuss. Again, the usually stoic Xatu raised his voice, using his psychic powers to escort Quilladin out of the forest, though not before the Grass type could put the middle finger up to a passing Yanma.
Evidently, Natu had to be taken to the infirmary. As they reached Nurse Vileplume, Xatu placed Natu by the entrance, before returning to his duties.
Despite having a large area delegated to it, the infirmary was mostly empty, save for one Kricketune curled up in a ball. Upon noticing a new patient, she extended an arm, and poked the poor Natu's beak. Upon noticing, Vileplume moved the musical bug away from Natu, leaving a melodic jingle in the air. Vileplume then picked up Natu, and gently placed him in a Straw bed, caressing him with a makeshift leaf blanket. Natu slept for many hours, not even waking up after a commotion outside the forest.

A group of imposing pokémon had crowded around the two unwanted visitors. The central figure, Scyther nodded to an Ekans to her left, before swiping at the string shot covering the two minute flower pokémon, before a Trevenant picked the two up, holding them close to it's face.
"BOSS WANT YOU. COME WITH ME. The ominous tree barked, practically spitting on the two pokémon. With impressive grip, it dragged the other grass pokémon through the dense woodland. Once it reached the boss' section, he hurled the duo at a trunk, causing the two to slide down.
"I wish I remembered to fly!" The hoppip remarked, before groaning, and lying down on the floor. Xatu turned around slowly, before emitting a sharp squeal, and staring at the two. A dark, dank Murkrow stood by the Taller bird, before pecking the table.
"Where's this Amethyst yous two speak of? I heard yer Father speak of such an item." The crow asked, inquisitively.
"I-i well my f-father said he dropped it near Pineco butdon'thurtusplease!" The budew cried, too nervous to separate her words.
"I'm afraid I cannot guarantee that…" The Xatu said, trailing off as a Zubat flew into the room, before flying into Hoppip. Before the Hoppip could get back up, the poisonous bat had bitten into it, draining his life force in front of his best friend. Budew tried to step forward to stop the Zubat, but Xatu held her in place, demanding she tell the Condor the exact location of the gemstone. Dissatisfied with her answers, Xatu raised his wings, compressing the young flower pokémon's skull. He then stood back, before turning in the opposite direction to the infirmary, and flying into the night sky, careful to locate the substantial gemstone.

It had been three days since the passing of the two pokémon. Budew's father, Quilladin had set up a funeral of sorts, in order to commemorate them. Many pokémon had shown up to this event, Rhydon was reciting an uplifting piece of poetry, Dustox danced to a melancholy tune with Floette and Natu & Igglybuff where whispering mystically, as children do.
Quilladin stepped to the front of the crowd and coughed.
"Greetings everyone. I'm afraid it had to come to this, but I appreciate all of you attending. It comes with much sorrow to say that my daughter, Budew, and Hoppip have unfortunately passed away. I wish you all to respect the deceased. Now, for some special words from- AHH THERE'S A FUCKING JOLTIK ON ME! GET THIS WRETCHED CREATURE OFF!" The Quilladin frantically swatted & swiped through the air, and spun off the podium, landing in a bed of freshly lain flowers.
Behind a tree trunk, a green, birdlike pokémon smirked, eyes deglazing.
