Hiya everyone! I'm here with two big announcements!
QR Code Report (Moncolle GET and Ga Ole)
Yes friends, after 5849350 years, I have finally made my QR code report! / screams and throws confetti
The full report can be found
in this doc here. It has explanations of what the figures are, what I've scanned, how I organized it, as well as conclusions and all that good stuff. I've provided either step-by-step pictures of the scans or videos (for Moncolle GET Charizard as well as Snorlax). I also wrote out the results for each one.
tl;dr version (AKA the Conclusions, to be added to Hack Check Guide):
1. Scanning a QR code from Moncolle GET figures or Ga Ole Disks DOES NOT bring up any sort of prompt to catch the Pokemon in the wild. Only Pokemon already available in the wild can be caught.
2. The benefits of scanning a QR code from these are:
- Receiving 20 points towards Island Scan. (The standard codes generated by the game via the Pokedex only give 10 points per scan.)
- Registering the Pokemon as ?seen? in your Dex if not already done, therefore letting you check the location to catch it. (This applies to ANY Pokemon available in the wild, whether through normal encounter or through SOS Calling.)
3. There are no added effects to the QR codes on Special Moncolle GET figures.
I'm still collecting the figures and disks, so I will continue to add scans as I do them, but this already has a lot of information, as well as the most important stuff for the Alola Starters and Charizard.
3rd Gen Events and the "Fateful Encounter" Flag
We had a discussion about this some time ago, but after a ton more discussion, HaxAras and I have FINALLY come to a conclusion:
Event Pokemon from 3rd Generation that have the "Fateful Encounter" flag are hacked.
Exceptions: Mew / Deoxys / Lugia / Ho-Oh, Pokemon from XD, later FRLG Events
HaxAras talked a lot with his buds that are part of the Gen III Events preservation project, and one of them did a test by checking a batch of 10ANNIV Pokemon from a ROM dump. He stated that NONE of them had this flag, and therefore any that do are hacks. (Messages
here.) Furthermore,
another user talked about the "Obedience Flag" in Gen III, introduced in FRLGE and XD, which when sent to higher gens appears as a "Fateful Encounter" flag. He explains it and mentions what they are supposed to be on.
Which FRLG Events have the flag is still unclear. According Haileo, PCNY Wish eggs fall under this category, but we're not sure about what else.
HaxAras believes that a looooong time ago, some hackers made a ton of 10th and other Events with the FE flag because they didn't know any better, and those got into circulation.
That's all! Hope this is helpful for some people. If you have any questions on the QR codes let me know. I think the Gen III events issue is pretty much finished, though if anyone knows what later events should have the flag that would be cool to add! Thank ye!
