Well, is it a downloaded version, or is it the actual thing?

If it's downloaded, try a different CS3 torrent. It could be an internal problem.

If it's the actual thing, I can't help you there.

But either way, you should triple check to see whether it prompt's you for an activation or serial code.

That's the only basic help I can give you. :< Sorry~

The only thing I can say about that is to blend lots and lots of brushes together to make a cool background. =]

When you mix together many filters and brushes, eventually you can get a nifty collage effect thats nice.

Backgrounds are so open-ended that you really cant describe what to do. The best thing to do is just to take some time and fiddle around with the vast assortment of brushes and colors at your disposal!

Go to Image > Canvas Size... . Then change the size, depending on how much more space you need ^^

    3. what does photoshop have that gimp doesnt?

    1. Photoshop is the industry standard in Photo editing/maniplutation, GIMP is the open-source equivalent used by Linux users who can't get photoshop.
    2. Elements is the consumer version of Photoshop that is intended to do simple fixes; such as red eye removal, Photo collages, etc..
to say which version is best you need to examine what you will be doing, if all you're doing is simple stuff then elements works but if you want to get into more advance stuff like graphic design you'd need to go for a pro version like CS3 or CS2.
    3. the professional versions like CS3 (which I use) contain more filters and effect like lighting and perspective transformations, added support for creating Slices used in webpages, as well as an easier to use interface.
( please note that if you don't want to end up spending $100+ go with GIMP)

does anyone know where I can find a journal texture? Thanks.

I would advise you to search DeviantArt they are a great resource.

use gimp it free and its brilliant
Quite true, I would definitely use GIMP, if I didn't have access to my Photoshop CS3

    1. Well.... You could bring them to paint, or just follow this tutorial.

    2. yes there's lots. You can try to do this:
Make new image 5 x 5 transparent, use the pencil tool to do what you want, and then go to edit > define pattern, name it, and then when you select patterns, your pattern will be there! Or just follow these tutorials
