Pokémon names

    So we all know that a Pokémon name sort of describes what the Pokemon is

    Caterpie = caterpillar
    Skitty = kitty/kitten
    Roselia = rose

    Can you think of Pokémon with names not related to what they are ? for example......Rayquaza,Lucario
    For example, if you have never seen a Rayquaza, and you had to close your eyes and think of something when you hear the name.....will it be a dragon-snake-like creature ? But when you hear the name Skitty, you probably think of a cat.

    And of course each Pokémon's name has something to with what they are (as per Bulbapedia Name Origin) ...but this is just a fun question to see whether which Pokémon's name describes what they are.

    If you think about it, most names do have a meaning hidden in them:
    Squirtle= Squirrell + Turtle
    Rattata= Rat
    Tauros= Bull Zodiac sign
    Meowth= Sound a cat makes in cartoons
    Persian= Persian cats

    and so on...

    my favourite are the Charmander ones.
    Char (charcoal and/or to char or burn)
    Mander (like salamander)
    Meleon (like chameleon)
    Izard (like lizard)

    So it literally means, fire-lizard. Best thing ever.

    I mostly prefer Pokémon-names with no apparent meaning, type Dunsparce.

    Regarding those that do mean something, I like:
    Slowpoke is a really derpy name, yet also cute.
    Sudowoodo is a very funny one, how it's a pseudo wood, not an actual, proper tree.
    Teddiursa, it's literally a teddybear. A little lazy perhaps.

    Then there's the really banal ones like Mankey, Seel, Golem etc. Those aren't very interesting...

    Is Eevee's name derived from evolution or something . . ? O.o

    What about:
    Magmar derieved from magma
    Slugma from sluggish magma . . :p
    Magmortar from magma and mortar signifying to its ability to shoot fireballs from its hand.
