Emerald hack: Pokémon Spirit Emerald

I don't know if anyone allready told you but just found a bug. I catched a Staryu, evolved into Starmie checked it's attacks and one of them, said normal upside down and was written in red. Later on the game reseted itself.

:(

Yo, I found a pretty game breaking glitch

I just got the Devon Goods back from the Aqua Grunt in Rusturf Tunnel, and when I went back to the Devon researcher the game skipped the entire scene with Mr. Stone and Steven's letter, so now I only have the Devon Goods

It skipped because you picked up the firestone on Route 116. I had the same problem. I fixed my game by loading my old save and not get the firestone until after I got the Pokenav.

I found some fixes to the issues with this hack (which, by the way, I am thoroughly enjoying), so here's a modified version of the challenge mode. I changed the type effectiveness chart so that dark is immune to psychic, dragons are not resistant to ghost, and one other thing that eludes me at the moment (but I think also involved the dragon type).
I also used the patch by DoesntKnowHowToPlay which seems to have fixed the physical/special split.
Oh, and I couldn't find Lapras on route 124, so I have them appear in the wild there. Did I just miss that event?

Anyway, here's the changed UPS. Let me know if it works!

Hey, if you have questions for your own ROM hack, please post in the Beginner's Lounge or one of its sticky threads, such as the Quick Questions & Answers thread. Other hack threads are not the place, though.

1. Yeah switch it to ignore.

2. You should be able to edit the rom although you may have to change the ini of the tool to fit the rom.

Thanks for the help! I made some experiments with the .ini files in the gen3 hacksuite and g3tools and they both worked showing me the new mons, moves and etc.

The mons, abilities and items were ok,but with moves the g3tools apparently do not showed the proper effects of some moves, and i'm afraid that if i save in the editor i end up messing with the effects(even when i tried add the new effects in the customization folder of g3t),so i think i will leave the moves unedited for safe purposes

But thanks for the support, helped me a lot (:

I don't know if it's ok to post here since the latest post is over 2 months old @_@ hope it's fine...
so I'm playing the normal mode and I'm at the point when I need to go to the Magma Hideout. So far only 1 game breaking glitch: the item ball on route 103 that also other people noticed. If you interact with that, the game freezes. Other than that, no problems whatsoever. I don't know if it's a glitch and it doesn't affect the game negatively, but some of the starters which I already caught reappear in the same spot a while later. It happened with Mudkip, Chimchar and Treecko for sure.

One thing I noticed though: Lucario's Aura Sphere is supposed to be a special attack but it's considered a physical attack >_<

Yo, I found out that Burmy♂ evolves into Mothim at level 25 instead of 20. It missed learning Confusion; Mothim gets it at 23. This should either be fixed to 20, or included in the documentation.

I also ran into events for starter Pokemon reappearing and the NPCs that distribute eggs as well. I don't see this as much of a problem though...

Haven't run into the Route 103 item ball freeze. Maybe I missed the ball? I doubt it though. Who knows what happened.

I also can't find Snivy. He's the only starter I don't have at this point. Can anybody tell me where he's at? I think I accidentally skipped over him.

I've been playing on MyBoy on my phone and every time I run into a Shiny Stone, the emulator totally crashes. I can pick them up in the overworld, but once I view it in the items, it freezes. And yeah, the egg-givers keep respawning too.

Hey there... I didn't know there are 5th gen starters in this game... didn't find even one of them... are you sure? I the file with the pokemon locations they're not listed!

Btw another game-breaking glitch (honestly dunno if they already reported this): if you have a Rayquaza with Draco Meteor and go check his stats, in the page with the contest moves, you will see that Draco Meteor's type is "normal" written upside down... just checking that page will cause for the game to freeze. If then you press A, the game will automatically reset.

No, you're right about 5th gen Pokemon. It just goes to show how much of a genwunner I am -- I thought Snivy was a 4th gen starter. I encountered Turtwig last of all the starters and I was just like, "Oh yeah... it's Turtwig, not Snivy..."

I was playing side-by-side with a friend yesterday and he encountered the same glitch you reported, although it was with a different Pokemon & different move. It seems to me like every one of the 100+ new moves added in will freeze your game in this manner. Doesn't matter to me personally, but if you enjoy doing the contests or ever view the contest page of a Pokemon's stats, be prepared for your game to crash.

Hey there.

I've been playing some of the Emerald hacks on this forum, and this one stood out the most. It's wonderfully done and I really enjoy the new sprites, the new moves and especially all the new Pokemon.

There are some issues left, though, like the Physical/Special split not always working correctly - my Elekid's Swift was terribly weak no matter what. Also, the issue with the Shiny Stone, which was brought up above, also happens for me. The game crashes when I try to view it in the bag in the field and freezes when I view it in a Pokemon Center or through the Deposit Item menu. Since it's at the bottom of the Bag, I haven't been able to check whether the same happens with the Dawn and Dusk Stones.

There's also a little bit of polish missing. As pointed out above, there are NPCs who mention that TMs are single-use, like the Cutter in Rustboro and the NPC who gives you the Bullet Seed TM. The FAIRY type rectangle could also use a slightly darker shade for the secondary color - it looks a little pale to me. When you finish battling the on-field Pokemon, the fade to black animation plays out and finishes before the Pokemon's sprite vanishes. The same doesn't happen for the Sinnoh starters, who are in Pokeballs like items. At the end of the low road to Mauville from Slateport, there is an NPC who gives you an egg, but he should be saying "any more" rather than "anymore" and there needs to be a comma before the word "deposit". Lastly, Wally in front of the Mauville Gym says he's grown strong with his Ralts, when he actually fields a Kirlia. But those are all minor things, it's mostly the Shiny Stone that BUGS me. Ha.

I have to say, though, I've played up to Wattson so far and the hack is really amazing, especially when it comes to the sheer variety of Pokemon. I'm really happy how you can pick from a large variety of Pokemon early on and raise whatever you like from an early level. The decision to put an Old Rod NPC on Route 103 was also very, very solid. I hope you can eventually add full Pokedex entries for the Sinnoh Pokemon. Maybe you could consider giving the player a national Pokedex from early on, so that we can check the locations of Sinnoh Pokemon on the map?

In any case, thank you for this amazing hack, and I hope you can find the time to address these concerns. Keep on being great.

I just caught a chingling
in the non-hack games one can only make a chingling evolve by making it happy during nighttime
the hack doesn't have night/day.. so how does my chingling evolve? xD

Going to start this tonight. See how long the pokedex takes me. Hopefully the glitches aren't too game breaking.

If you play this game make sure you save often. Find a shiny stone? Game crashes. Catch a Skarmory? Game crashes. Pokedex impossible. Should have just put the new pokemon into expert emerald mate.

Also, there's no Lapras event and in the document provided it says Dialga is on Route 134? Wish you'd come back and finish this man.

I've played through Spirit Emerald and it wasn't hard enough. It's just what I'm looking for in a GBA hack, just not difficult enough.

So I decided to apply the Challenge Mode patch that came with it.

All well and good until I get up to Mr. Briney standing outside Rusturf Tunnel. He's not there. And his beloved Peeko is not inside.

This causes problems because it disables the Devon President from giving me the PokéNav and stops Mr. Briney from going back to his cottage and his boat. I can't advance the story.

Any suggestions or has anyone else run into this problem?
