I ran this idea by the people on the Roleplay board, and they said it wouldn't work there, but that I should try here. Looking at the rules on this board, this might run afoul of the "No Chat Rule," but it never hurts to ask, does it? With that said, here's my (copy and pasted) proposal:

What I'm aiming for is an RP that is basically in the style of a regular forum/chatroom/[insert correct terminology here] where people post under the context of being average trainers in the pokemon world. We talk about raising pokemon, recent battles, that jerk at school/college/work who you think mistreats his pokemon-- real-life situations as though pokemon were real. There would be no real plots, as the nature of this doesn't really mesh with such a thing-- after all, life doesn't have a plot. Posters would have characters, although they probably wouldn't have much behind them other than personalities-- since this is based off of a chatroom, there isn't really any need to see people face-to-face.

However, there would be rules. No legendaries on your team, no "perfect undefeated trainer." If you have a rare pokemon on your team, you should come up with a legitimate-sounding reason as to why. Also, we would be trainers-- humans-- so no RPing as a pokemon. Shinies would be heavily discouraged-- they could be allowed (under certain circumstances that I have yet to think up), but it sort of ruins your suspension of disbelief if every person posting in this thread about pretending to be a person in a fictional world has a super rare critter (if you do have a shiny in the end, limit it to one). Don't pretend to be one of the game's protagonist, either.

Also, narrating your actions (like *John Deerling plops in his chair and opens a soda blah blah blah*) isn't really going to work with the style of this thread. I can't quite explain how, but it'll become clear once this hypothetical thread starts up.

And to make it really clear, please please please don't write yourself in a intimate relationship with a pokemon, because that gets really uncomfortable really fast. There are probably threads somewhere on this internet for that, but this thread wouldn't be such a place.

That's my idea, and if it's not suitable for this board, then I understand. If it is, please give input.

Well, I guess there's no objections from the moderators, so I guess I'll start.

Does anyone know how to get rid of static in electric types? My Electivire seems to have built up a ton-- more than I've ever seen her acquire-- and she's starting to get a bit cranky.

In other news, Archeops really don't like to get hit with water balloons. The neighbors accidentally pegged Tobias with one, and he was pretty furious. It took quite a bit to calm him down.
