My original intent in creating this game was to create a new way of looking at pokemon. As a retired battler, I've always found pokemon to be more complex than it at first seemed, but all the same a little kiddy if you ask me. I wanted to create a pokemon for the older fan, a pokemon of art and sound and story rather than just gameplay. The story of this game is, in my opinion, very dark and compelling. The most important point being that it is nothing like any pokemon game you have seen thus far. It would be much appreciated if you could critique me on whether this would flop or start a new generation of pokemon. Without further ado, the all-important story:*may look bad as it was originally written in notepad...
Features:
1) The seasonal system.
2) The EP system.
3) All those other things (all pokemon) you would come to expect...
4) Second gen starters.
Obviously there would be a lot of work and a lot of writing, but I'll find a way. However, I still do need a scripter as I am very old-fashioned, (i.e, the designing type, not scripting type)

<Pokemon Quartz------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------>
-PRE-WAR-
The game region or, rather, world in which Quartz takes place is Chimiera. It is a large country that
had a long history of thriving socialism. However, this game's backstory starts off in an age of unrest which
began with a small group of lower-class revolutionaries unhappy with the current regime. Looming conflict
soon grew from being a threat to a an inevitable reality, and civil war broke out. The fighting began with
Cher's Rebellion, a loss for the capitolists but a telling reminder of the dormant power of the civilian
class.
The truth is, Chimiera was never a very friendly nation. It had many enemies, especially under its
most recent dictator, Krevitz Benicy, and none wished anything greater than to destroy the last socialist
society. Seeing an opportunity, many rival nations of Chimiera suppoted the revolutionaries by by giving them
powerful and rare pokemon. It soon became apparent to the Chimieran army that they were up against more than
just a small team of uprising workers. In fact, the intentions of both parties soon became less subtle and as a
result full-scale war broke out. Genzan (One of the leading supporters of the capitalists) betryaed the revo-
lutionaries to satisfy its own wishes to seize control of Chimiera. But even without their gretest ally, the
'New Chimieran' Army plowed on in hopes of making a democracy.
-WAR-
Battles were brutal both to pokemon and their trainers. The government was significantly wearied from
fighting off several armies at once, and was becoming desperate and vicious in its search to crush what it still
only considered a rebellion. Towns were burnt to cinders, pokemon shot in front of their trainers' eyes, and
city streets were occupied with tanks (not all fighting was with pokemon).
The war went on for several years without any decisive moves on any side, until the day of October 11,
1979. On this day, two impotant events coincided to create what is known as today 'Black Tuesday': the Battle of
Nerdal and the assassination of the President of Genzan, Merril Sosro, as well as several of his important cab-
inet members at the hands of unknown mercenaries. The Battle of Nerdal showed the height of the Chimieran dic-
tator's desperation and the necesity for him to win the war. Releazing that he couldn't keep holing out after
all this time with regular pokemon alone, Benicy (Krevitz) decided to invoke the ultimate avatar of vengeance:
Arceus, bringer of the apocalypse. Benicy knew full well the dangers that existed in unleashing Arceus: namely
having the world be split in two. He didn't care. In battle, Arceus was summoned, glanced blankly at the batt-
ling hordes of men below, and cast its judgement not only on the field of Nerdal, but what is believed to this
day to be the judgement of the world. Nerdal and all those who stood upon fell silent as the serenly beautiful
Arceus shined bright with the light of the universe. And with that, every pokemon on the field disappeared.
When Benicy got news of these events, he immediately knew what was required of him and his people. The
Treaty of Rhuntekhavt hastily written and brought to the League of Nations only two months later. It esablished
several things, the most important of which being the creation of a border between Chimiera the old and Chimiera
the new. On Christmas Day of that year, capitalist delegates from New Chimiera signed the treaty.
-POST-WAR-
The Treaty of Rhuntekhavt began a new era for Chimiera, but ended another. According to the treaty, Gen-
zan would cede power to Chimiera because of the crippling costs of the war and the lack of a central government
after Black Tuesday. For the two countries, there was a very long road toward finding common ground, but all at
least agreed the first step had been taken.
Still, all was not as well as it had at first seemed. The new democratic government put in place by the
people in New Chimiera proved itself more oppresive and corrupt than Benicy had been. To add to the tension, a
new organization which had the power to make and interpret laws concerning pokemon, known as the PTO
(Pokemon Trainer Organization), was put in place under the treaty. The PTO was and is the heart of beaurocracy,
and it used its power to help organized crime smuggle pokemon and contraban. The organization was created to
help organize and unify a system of pokemon battling, but had its message lost at the hands of the corrupt.
Unfortunately, even though the President realized there was a problem, he was powerless to stop them. With his
approval dwindling, the popular congress did everything in their power to deny every bill the President tried to
pass. The public was tired and angry, and although they didn't want more conflict, were fully prepared to def-
end themselves.
-BEHR'S STORY-
That was 15 years ago. The actual game starts off in a city called Nempuc (pronounced Nem-pus), specif-
ically in New Chimiera. In this city, your character, default Behr, lives with his mother in a small apartment
on the third floor of their building. Behr is a 15-year-old boy with a strong sense of adventure and intell-
igence even though his mother can only afford to put clothes on his back and give him the occasional cold din-
ner. He also follows the path of justice, a virtue he obtained after he learned of the death of his father. He
has natural suspicions of the elistist-ruled, oppresive government in which he lives. The day is Black Tuesday.
Behr's mother, Kac (pronounced like Cass), thinks on all the past trainers in her family and decides she'll
never get anywhere keeping Behr with her forever. So, she buys him a rare pokemon from the market, spending all
her savings in the process. The pokemon Behr receives gives him the courage and determination to try to be a
pokemon trainer. However, the world is not as accepting of him as previous characters might have been. The PTO
refuses his application for a trainer card. Pokemarts won't sell him pokeballs because they think he doesn't
deserve to be a trainer. To make matters only worse, Behr's mother falls ill because she can no longer afford
the medicine she needs. Although Behr is still struggling as a trainer, he is both saddened and now willful to
avenge his mother and defeat the elitist regimes which so plague Chimiera. Travelling alone and without a home,
Behr finds it becoming harder and harder to hold on to what he has. Soon, he collapses in the next town outside
of Nempuc because of so many days eating only scraps. Prof. Pine is perhaps the only one left in the world who
has any faith in Behr, and in seeing his tremendous plight, lets Behr come to an audition back in Nempuc with
other city kids to compete for a pokedex. After getting a pokedex from the audition, Behr starts to gain respect.

2) The EP system.
Spoiler:
Long story short, in this game pokemon will evolve not (only) by what level they are at, but by how well you train them.
Let me explain:
EP= EXPR(experience ratio)/ -(1/2 Frienship+CP (character points)+Battle ratio+EVR (EV ratio))
Did that only confuse you more? Don't worry. CP is a modifier to move power based on the moves taught to the specified pokemon. The formula for that is even more complicated than the latter one, so I won't post it right away...
But, if the value that comes out is > the value for the pokemon, it will evolve. It seems like a lot of work, but I already have the first gen pokemon accounted for.
