  • OK, yes, so plenty of you may know, the latest Miyazaki film, which came out over a year ago in Japan, was finally released in American theaters. Critics loved it, and said it was a good movie, so here's my review:

    While it doesn't match up to Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, or Mononoke, Ponyo has its perks. It was simply moving, and although it might've been directed for people of a younger age, I recommend it for anyone of any age. Even though I was a bit appalled at the fact that Disney was using Miley's younger sister Noah and the younger brother of the Jonas Brothers, Frankie, they did a pretty good job.

    So yeah, I highly recommend this movie. It's even inspired me to watch all the Miyazaki movies I own again XD It also makes me wish I owned Totoro >.>

    Yes, I suck at reviews. Bear with me please.

    I loved Princess Mononoke, but I'm not sure if I'd like this one. I'm willing to give it a chance, though.

    While I was glad to know that Miyazaki hadn't fallen off the face of the earth, I'm still not sure if I'll ever actually see this. I might go see it if some friends want me to go, but other wise.. I don't know. >>;

  • Ironically, I just got back from watching this in theaters.

    Miyazaki's films are always amazing, and despite the voice actors chosen for the English versions, Ponyo was no exception. Noah's voice kinda irked me a bit in the beginning, but you find she really doesn't speak all that much during the movie anyhow. ^^;

    Overall, it was a good movie, but a little short, and definitely not on the same level as Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke. If My Neighbor Totoro was one of your favorite Miyazaki films, this movie should delight.
