    • I have a list of nicknames I would like to use for my Pokemon, because by the time I get a Pokemon I end up forgetting the nickname I was going to use.

    Litleo/Pyroar: Sundiata, after a 13th century Mali king.
    Budew/Roselia/Roserade: Locusta, after a roman chemist made aristocrat, famous for poisoning many people including Claudius.
    Lillipup/Herdier line: Carnegie, after a Scottish philanthropist.
    Meinshao: Wu Zetain, an Empress of China.


    I have several more names of historical figures that I admire or look up to, but don't have any Pokemon attributed to them, yet.

    I named my entire Black 2 team after a TV Trope called the Five-Man Band. It has the only team in which I liked all of the names I picked out for these guys.

    Besides that, I've also nicknamed a few other Pokémon in many different games. Two of my favourites nicknames are Tank the Torterra and Donna the Honchkrow.

    In my most recent new playthrough I have:

    Uoho-Eevee (Bonus points for anyone who can guess what he'll evolve into XD)

    Although sometimes it's better. Like my usual nicknames are the first letter of my siblings' names in order.
    F, P, J, N, M, S, with the trainer named after me, the oldest. XD
    An example of this is Y:
    Felix the Chesnaught (Felix is usually my rival's name though)

    Num the MeowsticM (Short for Numa Numa or Nummlez)

    I feel nicknaming is a very cute feature; in real life, we tend to name our pets, and our situation is sort of the same here, and I believe this helps add more realism.

    Unfortunately, however, although I'm a fan, I don't take advantage of this system too much, and wind up leaving my Pokémon as they are. Last time I had nicknamed anything, if I remember right, was about six to eight months ago; it was Charizard which I've been able to get a hold of in Y version, and I've named it Fidragon--play on the words fire and dragon.

    There are also few more Pokémon that I did have set nicknames to over the years, but I can't put my finger on what they exactly were right now, sorry to say; wish I were able to remember.

    Some of my nicknames that I'm proud of.

    Blaziken - Ares
    The God of War in Greece. His Roman counterpart is Mars and the element of the planet Mars is fire.

    Infernape - Wukong
    Named after Son Wukong. All he needs now is a power pole, oh wait wrong adaptation.

    Emboar - Porkchop
    A giant pig on fire (cooked pork) with fighting attacks (chop) and yet named after the food.

    Donphan - Stampy
    Named after Bart's elephant from The Simpsons.

    Skarmory - Kamikaze
    copy & paste: Kamikaze is the Japanese wind deity, and that corresponds with the fact that Skarmory's a flying type Pokemon. However, Kamikaze is also the name of a war jet, corresponding with the fact that Skarmory's a steel type.

    Garchomp - Armaggon
    Named after the mutant land shark enemy from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

    Rotom Wash - Kenmore
    The household appliances company because y'know, washing machine.

    Jellicent - Pringles
    Male Jellicent reminds me of the Pringles guy.

    Greninja - Zabuza
    Zabuza was a water-style ninja from Naruto and Greninja does the exact same pose that Zabuza does when doing an attack. See here.

    Well, I have been nicknaming a few pokemon I catch and bred. Recently I've been only nicknaming my teams overa since they are the only ones I've been using for the main story until after the E4 and any side areas/missions afterwards.
