6th Gen Power Saves: Features/How To Guide [Hack/Spoiler]

For those who are unaware, by the same creators of Action Replay, Datel has brought us a new device named "Power Saves" that is compatible with many 3DS games including Pokemon X&Y. I have purchased one for myself and due to the swirling speculation and rumors going around the various Pokemon Outlets, I felt that there should be a "Features/How To Guide" of the various features of Power Saves that is free of the rumors/speculation as seen on other various threads caused by non-owners.

First and Foremost: Let me dispel the biggest rumor regarding this device, this device DOES NOT allow you or anyone to create, hack, or modify a Pokemon's Stats/IVs/Nature, nor does it do anything else that would ruin anyone's Pokemon X&Y experience. Just because it's associated with "Action Replay", morons who don't bother to read or research, just assume that it's a cheating device to give players an unfair advantage over others in battle. So don't be a moron yourself and take a look below at the complete list of features before you make assumptions or fall for rumors (like the 1st reply below ;P).

Secondly: Please DO NOT message me requesting me any Shiny Legendary/Unreleased item. I have discovered that for a fact, these cannot be traded as they are blocked by the game's trade services. You will need to Purchase a Power Saves for yourself to get these. Also don't ask me to make your Pokemon Shiny or any Cloning Services. I will just ignore and delete your message.

1. Make Any Pokemon/Legendaries Shiny:

Power Saves gives us the ability to make any Pokemon or Legendary Shiny, including Shiny Locked Event Legendaries and the new 6th Gen Legendaries in mere seconds.

2. Virtually Unlimited Money, Battle Points, & PokeMiles:

Power Saves gives us the ability to set your in-game cash to 9,999,999, BP to 9,999, & PokeMiles to 9,999,999

3. Virtually Unlimited Items, Berries, and Medicine:

Power Saves allows you to set your item counts to 999, including Master Balls, Rare Candies, PP Maxes, & whatever else inside your bags

4. Create Items you do not possess:

Already used your Master Ball? With Power Saves you can sacrifice and replace an item in your #1 bag item slot and turn into an item available within Power Saves catalog.

5. Megastones Including Event-Only and Unreleased Stones:

Similar to #4, you can create megastones you don't have, such as the Exclusive X/Y megastones, also you can create the Megastone for Blaziken (Blazikenite) for those who missed the Special Event Torchic or for those who restarted their game and lost the stone, but most notable is, you are able to create the unreleased/yet to be released Latias and Latios Megastones (Latiasite & Latiosite)!

6. Create Save Points/Backup:

With Power Saves, you are able to create and store save points of your game. So if you were considering a game replay, you can back up your save and restart your game, or maybe you want to farm the 6th Gen legendaries, you can store save points before them.

7. Clone Pokemon/Legendaries:

Thanks to #6 above and the Pokemon Bank, Power Saves allows anyone to Clone in Pokemon X&Y. To do this:
1. Back up your Save File with Power Saves.
2. Deposit the Pokemon/Legendaries you want to clone into the Pokemon Bank.
3. Restore your backed up save file.
4. Deposit/Withdraw your clones from the Pokemon Bank.
5. Enjoy!

8. Unlock The Diancie Event & Torchic Event Mystery Gifts:

Power Saves was updated on Feb 26th to now allow you to trigger the Torchic w/Blazikenite event and the Diancie Event Mystery Gifts. The former being great for those who restarted their X&Y adventure or missed the Torchic Event, and the later for those who want to be spoiled :P!

FAQ and Warnings:

1. Can I Create Pokemon or Modify My Pokemons IVs/Stats/Nature With Power Saves?

2. What If I Own The eShop Download Version of Pokemon X/Y?

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Power Saves is an external device that connects to your computer via USB and has a DS Cartridge Slot which requires you to own the actual physical game cartridge to place in it. Pokemon X/Y save data is stored into the cartridge itself. So due to Power Saves design/requirements, your Digital Versions of Pokemon X/Y are unable to be used with it

3. What If I Battle On Battle Spot, Can I Use These Shiny Legendaries or Unreleased Items?

Unfortunately Battle Spot's check blocks shiny Shiny-Locked Legendaries which includes the 6th Gen Legendaries; You are given an error "There's a problem with one of your participating Pokemon". The same goes with the Latiosite/Latiasite, it says "There is at least one Pokemon with a banned held item."

However this doesn't stop these Legendaries or Megas from battling in Direct Online Wi-Fi Battles and Local Wi-Fi Battles.

If I remember right, the "Shiny-Locked" Legendaries include: Arceus, Jirachi, Keldeo, Meloetta, Reshiram, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zekrom, & Zygarde, everyone else should be fine. But just make sure to backup your save file or clone a non-Shiny set, just in case there's more before you go about deciding to turn all your Battle Legendaries and Pokemon shiny, only to discover you can't take them on Battle Spot anymore...

4. Can I Trade These Shiny Pokemon/Legendaries or Unreleased Items?

As I've discovered, I wasn't able to trade neither a Shiny Xerneas or a Lati' megastone over Direct Person to Person trade.. in addition, they cannot be traded on GTS nor Wonder Trade.

However, normal shiny Pokemon are ok to trade, it seems to only restrict "shiny-locked" legendaries.

Strangely, you are in fact able to "Post" the Shiny Shiny-Locked Legendaries on GTS, but I don't think they actually show up or at least no one can trade with it.. I had my Shiny Xerneas on there for over 10 minutes asking for a common Pokemon and after 10 minutes, it was still there, untraded.

Also, in Direct Person to Person Trade you are given a "there's a problem with your Pokemon" error, and WonderTrade always tells you that it cannot find a trading partner no matter how many times you try.

5. I Get A No Hardware Found Error.

Did you buy a Power Saves too and all you get is the "No Hardware Found" error as soon as you insert your X/Y cartridge? It seems that the Power Save may have poor quality connectors or either just isn't overly snug for the cartridge, so to remedy this: quickly lick or swipe your Pokemon X/Y cartridge against the inside of your lip and try again.. I personally have this issue every time, but as soon as I swipe the cart against my lip, it works like a charm.

6. Can I Share My Battles With My Shiny/MegaLatis With The Vs. Recorder?

As strange as it may seem, I have discovered that you are able to Save the battle in which you used Unreleased Items or Shiny Legendaries, however you are not capible of Posting/Sharing it for others to see. It gives you a message "This Battle Video cannot be made public". You can however still view it and watch it yourself, but just can't share it with others.

7. Does This Have Any Action Replay Cheats Like (i.e. Unlimited Catch Rate)?

Since this device doesn't actually hook up to the 3DS and is simply a "Save Game Editor", it cannot modify the in-game mechanics/operations, so No is the answer.

Anti-hack people, please stop crying. Unless 6th gen started with a clean slate, we would've never been free of hacks because Pokémon Bank allows transfer from 5th gen, which was hacking heaven.

I like hacking in RPGs since they're mostly time savers. And, frankly, if you're serious about the games you play, you have at least one of AR/Save Dongle/etc.

I've placed my order, I only plan on using it sparingly, but I love using ARs to make my gameplay that little bit more interesting, it's getting to the point where I don't have much else to do in the game.

I don't think it has anything to get the soul dews, it does for the latiasite and latiosite apparently.. but i guess i'll know for sure in a few days time or so when i get my own Power Saves in the mail.

but also even if I could get a Soul Dew, apparently I wouldn't be able to trade it.

Items that aren't "released" are untradable on Pokemon X/Y. like the Latiosite/Latiasite, they cannot be traded as seen here:

That video said the pokemon can't be traded, it didn't say it's holding an item that can't be traded (like it does when you try to trade a mega stone on the GTS or Wonder Trade. There it says the pokemon is holding an item that can't be traded, it doesn't say the pokmeon can't be traded) so maybe whatever checks are used to keep certain hacked pokemon from going from gen 5 games to Pokebank is in effect when trading between X and Y and it can tell that Latios was hacked? (after all, it was a result of the power save device, right?)

As much as I feel that this is cheating, it's probably no different than how people exploit bugs or glitches in other MMO games. So I'll just see it as another way of having fun with the game and say good luck with your purchase.
