Project: Creating a Pokemon League

Yeah, well, I'm not good with competitive battling. This was the process of choosing my team. (Looks at Smogon's BL+ list. Chooses five pokemon of a certain type, chooses semi-random moveset, then puts them together.) So yeah, not exactly the best. There is a really good reason I stay far away from that section, after all.

Raekuul: Avian Cliff's (City 5) is the International-Access city. If you need one earlier add a Train city somewhere.

Is this going to be the access to the Battle Frontier? If so, can there be an airport there after you beat the Pokemon League? I want to use that for my final encounter with my rival.

Avian Cliff has a gym in it; reference Page 5 for the submission (check the Rival OP to see which submission won; it was one of the best submissions of the project, I think by ooOpposite Day). The average level would be around there.

Raekuul: You would get a special ticket to go to the Battle Frontier from Avian Cliffs. If you want an airport after the Elite 4, write it into your Rival, if your rival wins there will be an airport.

It's on page three for me, but that's alright. An actual airport isn't needed, I just need an excuse to bring in foreigners.

So, lower-to-mid thirtes... Ick, I'll go with my original plans if I can find it. Just, do me a favor and have a directions-giver that is all too happy to tell people about Professor PROFESSOR in TOWN somewhere there.

I'm looking forward to seeing raekuul's submission based off of what he's planning in the thread. I'm really excited about how original he is being with it- not your standard bread and butter guy who just butts in and battles for the heck of it. Storylines are always awesome and intrigue me the most.

Anyways, Eos and I are going to put up Encounter 4 sometime later tonight, so look for that. After we confirm the dialogue for Encounter 5, we'll update that as well.

Story is always my strong point, it's the competitive teams and movesets that are not. If anyone is curious, the plan is to start with the final encounter (Blissey, Porygon-Z, Togekiss, Snorlax, Dunsparce, and Umbreon) and work backwards from there. I would use a Ditto to cement the reference, but Nonohara Himeko has to be a believable opponent.

Just a heads up; I'm going to extend this round a week for a few reasons;

1. I won't be here on Sunday to close it.
2. I feel that a lot of people could use more time.
3. I've extended every last round of an area of the project, why not stay consistent?

The submissions have all been great, but there are some who could work on their competitive viability. I suggest looking in Smogon for competitive movesets, because they are easy to access and I know a lot of them so I can tell if you are using them or not. Enjoy your one week extension; use it well.

Finished with my Rival Battle. Now Drake's and Marcus' teams aren't completely uber like before.

The fourth of five encounters is now up!!! This one was probably the hardest to create, because it involves a whole new section of the game created just for the storyline. I may have put in too many wild Pokemon, however. Feel free to leave criticism!!

Appearance: Jakob has short, spiky blonde hair. He's very thin, has a tan complexion, and is about 5'11. He wears a white t-shirt with a black jean-jacket that has its sleeves cut off. He has blue jeans on and a pair of white tennis shoes.


Encounter 1:

After defeating Vespera and walking outside her gym, the rival will run into you, saying this dialogue –

Rival: Whoa, watch it man!

Your character will look over and see the cops chasing him, the rival gets up and starts to head off and suddenly stops. A ! will appear over his head and then he'll run back to you and ask you for a potion of any kind. The player made decide to give him a potion or not. The dialogue will go like this –

Rival: Hey, you got a potion I could have man, I need an answer quick, as you can see.

If player does give potion (any kind will give the same effect)

Rival: Thanks man, I'll see you around then!

If player does not give potion

Rival: Really? OK, I gotta run!

Encounter 2:

After the second encounter against the criminal organization Team Enel the rival will be walking opposite of the way you were, and will stop you. If you gave him a potion he'll recognize you. Here's the dialogue –

If player gave potion from the first encounter

Rival: Hey, you're that guy who gave me that potion outside of the Secosite gym right? Yeah, well my name's Jakob, Jakob Lazewrath and last time we met, the cops we're after me pretty rough huh? But it's all good now, they just got a little aggravated cause I 'might' have been after Regice, and they 'might' have been from the Pokémon League. I don't get why they protect the legendary Pokémon so much, granted there's only one of them, but still… Wow I've given you my whole life story here huh?

Jakob: Well, I guess my real question is, would you like to battle man? I'm itchin' for a good fight, and I see you've got plenty of badges…I'll heal all your Pokémon for ya if you want…

The player may choose to accept or decline the battle.

If yes

Jakob: Great man here we go!

If no

Jakob: Alright I guess….see ya.

If player did not give potion from the first encounter

Rival: Hey, have we met before? If not my name's Jakob, Jakob Lazewrath. If the player decides to find Registeel, you will see Jakob standing in the corridor leading toward Registeel. It will appear that Registeel is not there.

Jakob: Whoa man, looks like you're a bit late on the action here. I just caught Registeel like 5 minutes ago. I'll tell ya what, if you defeat me in battle, I will give you Registeel. If you lose…well…you don't get Registeel.

The player may choose to accept or decline. If the player says yes –

Jakob: Alright, let's get this battle started!

If the player says no—

Jakob: Really? I mean it's a legendary were talking about here, are you sure?

The player will be presented with the option of yes or no. If the player chooses no –

Jakob: Alright, let's get this battle started!

If the player says yes –

Jakob: Well damn, I guess I'll see ya then.

If player loses –

Jakob: Ouch, that must sting man. We'll I'll see ya then

As a side note, if the player chose to decline the potion from earlier, and declined the battle; every Pokémon except for Registeel will be level 70. Registeel will remain the same. If the player had chosen to give Jakob the potion, but declined the battle, Jakob will offer to heal your Pokémon before the battle. If the player had chosen to decline giving the potion, but accepted the battle, Jakob will remain in the Registeel corridor until defeated. If the player had chosen to give Jakob a potion earlier in the game, and accepted the battle from earlier, Jakob will offer to heal your Pokémon before the battle, remain in the Registeel corridor until defeated and Registeel will have the hold item Scope Lens.

Encounter 4:

After defeating the Octoria City gym, Jakob will greet you after you walk out.
Jakob: Really!? The last gym? You've got all eight badges now don'tcha? That's crazy man… Well, I guess I'll be seein' you real soon then.

If the player has acquired Registeel from Jakob, he will give you this dialogue –

Jakob: Dude, you have really impressed me, and lately, that's been near impossible. Take this.

Player will obtain the Masterball.

Jakob: With that, you can catch any Pokémon on this planet. Good luck with that.

Encounter 5:

Outside of the Victory Road, leading to the Pokémon League, Jakob will be waiting for you. He will say this dialogue –

Jakob: Hey man, I told I'd see you soon. The Pokémon League? You think you're ready for them? Well I think I should evaluate your battling skills. Whad'dya say?

The player may choose yes or no.

If the player did not obtain Registeel from Jakob, the battle will not be optional.

If the player chose yes –

Jakob: Alright, let's do this already!

If the player chose no –

Jakob: Damn, you really know how not to be any fun. Our battle would've helped me to determine if you're ready, but it's cool I guess.

Mainly a physical wall, but its primary use is to keep the rain up. Kyogre is switched out if it is about to die, so that it may keep the rain going at some other point of the battle.

If player won –

Jakob: Dude, you're totally ready. Make me proud, defeat the champion!

If player lost –

Jakob: Damn dude, better luck next time. I think you should train a little more before challenging the league.

Jakob will ask if you want another battle anytime before you challenge the league, kinda like an easy way to train up your Pokémon before the league.

Encounter 6:

After you defeat the Pokémon League rematch and return to your hometown, Jakob will be waiting outside of your house.

Jakob: Hey man, I haven't battled you in a long time! I heard you defeated the League twice, that's insane bro! While you've been out league-chasing, I was chasing legends. I'm challenging you to a battle, and there's no backing out this time!

Groudon

Mainly a physical wall, but its primary use is to keep the sun up. Groudon is switched out if it is about to die, so that it may keep the sun going at some other point of the battle.
Zapdos

Just another Special Sweeper, with Heat Wave being powered by Drought, that is occasionally switched out.

If the player won –

Jakob: No way man! You really just defeated the very Pokémon that established so many cultures among us humans? I'm amazed, astounded, and star struck! Here, take these items as a token of 'you win cause I'm outta cash' prize

Player will obtain the Silver Wing and the Rainbow Feather.

Jakob: With those, you will be able to summon the greatest birds ever to cross the sky. I was going to chase them, but I feel you deserve them more. Lugia and Ho-oh are at your knees!

If the player had obtained the Masterball from Jakob, obtained Registeel from him, battled him every time, and gave him the potion from earlier he will say this.

Jakob: Oh! I almost forgot, I want you to take this too.

Player will obtain the Green Orb.

Jakob: With that item, will be able to summon THE greatest beast to fly in our ozone layer. Rayquaza, a Pokémon of only legends.

After the player has obtained the items, Jakob will say this dialogue –

Jakob: Well, even though you've defeated me, I will never give up! One day (player's name) I will defeat you, I swear to it!

If the player lost you will simply return to your house and you are given the option to battle him again or not.

SethMetal's submission came almost unexpectedly (aka where have you been?) Nonetheless, I liked the idea of a rival that chased after legendaries and used them in battle against you, and helped you to obtain even more powerful legendaries. Although the competitive viablility of some of these movesets is iffy, I still overall like the submission.

I've been busy with some water polo scrimmages over the weekend, but Eos and I will most likely have the final encounter done by Wednesday.

Is there a rule against a team full of ubers? I just need to know, since Marcus and Drake's teams were both full of them. I think there is, but I'm not sure. I changed it out, so even if it is, then it can still be accepted.
