    -The name stems from the word "Affection."
    Affect is described as:
    "To act on the emotions of; touch or move."
    While Effect is described as:
    "Something brought about by a cause or agent; a result."
    Other definitions use terms like "Theory" and "Scientific," hinting that affect is a more emotional term whereas effect is more factual and cold. This game takes place in reality, where pokemon are exploited for profit, the ideas of people having a warm affection for pokemon are tossed out. This isn't Disney World, it's not happy world, it's our world, where people don't give a **** and do whatever they please.

    Another key part of the game is to bring back the general feeling of mystery that surrounded the Pokegods and other glitches of the old era (R/B). Once mew was discovered, there was really a feeling of mystery that surrounded the pokemon games. We were told what pokemon should have been, and there were, yet for the glitches we found pokemon that were supposed to not exist, mostly glitches but in mew's case fully coded creatures. People began to speculate, to question what really existed in those mysterious cartridges of ours, and from that, pokegods. So this game will contain pokegods, will contain the dark things rumored from the old games (such as a pokegod "factory," and pokemon dying).

    //Story
    It all started with a few punks off the street abusing their pokemon to make them tougher. Just a couple of attacks on innocent civilians that had led to the creation of SHADOW PHEONIX. "From the ashes of the rockets rises the shadow of a pheonix" printed on T-Shirts, websites and every punk-metal band that used crazy stunts to attract the media. The teens would joke, as they do, the children would innocently pray and hope for unity and the adults would shudder at the mention of SHADOW PHEONIX's name. For they knew the truth.
    Years ago it was proved by a team of scientists that pokemon could be created, as was the case with Mewtwo. But no one could even imagine what had come after.
    In the eyes of the public, testing had ended after Mewtwo, but a few powerful people later learned the truth behind the project. The men who created Mewtwo had went on to test a mass production project, under which the normal idea of the long cloning process was ditched for a more efficient production process. This site, underground the Cinnibar Mansion, was known as the prototype_factory, or Cloud 0. It was here that Mewthree was created.
    Mewthree was a biomechanical creature, a merging of computing capabilities and biological discoveries, capable of creating living-energy outputs and electronic pulsations. The electromagnetic aura surrounding Mewthree was similar to an active, frozen EMP blast, capable of distorting electronic readings and shutting down electronic devices. While Mewthree was hidden, and Cloud 0 was secretly destroyed, a few of the manufactured pokemon surfaced on the shores of Cinnabar. Unable to register the pokemon due to it's electromagnetic aura, Mewthree was assigned a different name by the pokedex: MISSINGNO. Having no knowledge of it being a mew clone, that's what professors referred to it as.
    MISSINGNO. was created with one difference from Mewtwo. Mewtwo was created to be the ultimate psychic pokemon. MISSINGNO was created to be the ultimate pokemon, period. No weakness. Adaptable to any situation, with multiple forms and electronic frequencies and wavelengths all changeable at will.
    SHADOW PHEONIX's head executive was one of the scientists in the team that created MISSINGNO, and had an extensive knowledge of the creation and mass production of pokemon. Using digital manipulation to turn a captured MISSINGNO's data into a physical, non-living being, the Mist Stone was created. This contained the capability to turn previously unevolvable pokemon into a higher form.
    Using a combination of cloning and breeding techniques, SHADOW PHEONIX began farming these newly-discovered pokemon, starting at factory_Alpha, or Cloud 1, factory_beta, or Cloud 2, and finally an entire city was devoted to the manufacturing of these pokemon, know as the pokegod_factory, or Cloud City.
    SHADOW PHEONIX still isn't done causing revolutions in horror, however. The quest has begun to acquire Aceus, the one with the power to shape the universe, and create a digital image of it. Copy it. Mutilate it. Mass produce it. And rule with it. The glitches of our computers have become dimensional glitches in our world, and things are only getting worse for the world. Reality is at it's last stand, and the only creatures that can save it are the creatures that sent it into it's lethal spiral. Your last hope is the pokegods, the only creatures that can destroy the sick creation SHADOW PHEONIX has made.

    Repent and commit the final sin.

    The question is "Retro or update?" and the answer ain't so easy. We want to stick to retro, because it goes with the idea of glitches and pokegods. But, updated graphics are nice.

    //Soundtrack

    //Delivery and Tech
    The game is set to be created through Flash CS3, with coding in Actionscript 3.0. In addition to a downloadable .exe windows application, we will also create a mac .app application and a browser based version. The downloadable versions will have fullscreen, however. We're also attempting to bring the game to a browser-based Wii release that used the D-Pad and buttons on the wii-mote.


    //Help Wanted
    We need a pixel artist, someone who can recreate Locustud, Doomsay and the like. We'll also need custom pokegods.
