Full Name: Eleanor W.
Age: 15
Gender: Female
IN-DEPTH
Appearance:
Eleanor is a petite girl of 15. She stands at 4'9, looking more bone than flesh except for the round bump of a stomach. "That's just baby fat and she'll grow out of it", as her mother says. Her skin is chalky white and her hair raven murkrow black. A red ribbon pulls her bangs back, securing it in place with a large bow at the top of her head as if to tie up a package. Her hair cascades down her back, stopping midway.
Ellie, as her parents call her, is often mistaken for much younger, resembling a small china doll. Her brown eyes are hidden behind a pair of rosy colored contacts. They're unnaturally large buggy eyes which conveyed a scrowl without her lips moving.
She prefers clothing of plain colors and rich textures. Black, gray, white, brown- neutral colors that make dressing easier in the morning. Efficiency plays a part even in clothing. Knee to ankle length dresses are her preference (because deciding on matching pants and shirts take 5 minutes out of every morning) and she'll finish off her look with black stockings and black slip on heels. To prepare for her adventure, she bought a dark red purse with a clip in the front and a gold chain that hung over one shoulder. It really didn't have any space for more than a pokédex, a few pokéballs and her wallet.
Personality:
Eleanor is a spoiled child, for a lack of a better word. She was raised in a wealthy family and sheltered like one. From her strict education involving private tutors, she grew up fast, maturing past her size but leaving her socially inept. She only comes into contact with maids and workers who more or less run at the sight of her.
Her mind works by calculating for efficiency. For example, she takes meticulous count of how many servants run the household and their costs. Why? "Why not," she would respond. "I will inherit this one day," a bit of disdain in her voice, "I should know how much it costs to run it."
Eleanor also has known fear of physically touching things. Especially public objects. (i.e. water fountains, elevator buttons, door handles and so forth.) Shaking hands is a definite no-no. Each servant is instructed not to touch her before beginning their service. A pack of wet tissues and hand sanitizer is always at the ready in her right pocket.
Her aspirations of becoming a trainer intermingle with her aspirations for independence. This is her chance to set forth from the shadows and experience the world, no matter how dirty. The Pokémon itself aren't so important to her, it's her opportunity to escape and smell the flowers. She just won't touch them.
Background: ERR MERR GERRD, SHE'S AN ORPHAN ((I kid))
Born to a family of old money in Kanto, Eleanor Watanabe is like any child. She drinks from gold goblets and eats with a silver spoon. The family once served as a lesser Daimyo during the Tokugawa era. Their present day money coming from the vast land in Kanto they still hold ownership to. Her father rarely returns home but when he does, servants gather in the hallway to greet him and Ellie would be leaning over the banister. Ever the dutiful daughter, she would greet him at the top of the stairs in her best dress. Sometimes she noted a younger man by his side in a black suit and red tie, whispering in his ear and offering her odd looks. Whether her father was with another woman or her father was in some funny business, Eleanor could never tell. If it was the latter, all the more reason for her to find some independence.
On the other hand, Eleanor's mother is always around. Never stepping outside the doors for more than a few moments. She walks from room to room, ensuring all the cleaning is in tip-top shape. Her hand gestures as she glides past rooms would put a maestro conducting an orchestra to shame. People would run back and forth with a flick of a wrist, scrambling to change the dinner ware to the fancy china or a different colored linen to match the seasonal curtains.
Growing up inside a large mansion left a lot of time for exploring hallways and unused rooms. She rarely got visitors except for the string of tutors that came to teach a range of topics from biology to modern literature. Her favorite subjects were business, math and any of the sciences. Boredom would settle in at times and she'd simply shrink further inside herself. Novels were a good escape and long bubble baths. Watching from afar, her mother would take pity on her at times and hire girls to be play dates. For Eleanor, it was easier talking to an accountant.
This is why Eleanor wants to become a trainer. Her mother was slowly grooming her to take over her role. All her mother's talent, ambitions, and hopes just wasted away in a timeless mansion. And so a plan was concocted.
For three nights Ellie's father proved his love for his daughter by sitting through five slideshows, seven presentation boards and three hired expert opinion. When he could bare it no longer, he finally gave his permission with a begrudging nod. Ellie gave a punch into the air before quickly composing herself with a pat of her dress. Ellie's mother was close by to witness it and stood frozen in place with a blank look that told nothing. She will later pull Ellie aside to give her some kind advice.
And so with her small purse filled to the brim with wet tissues, she sets off with her daddy's card.
POKÉMON
Starter Pokémon: Ponyta
Ponyta is proud and stubborn. When she gets mad, her nostrils flare open and small flames shoot forward. She'll throw her head back, mane wavering in the air and kick the floor in warning. By the third kick, she would be running straight at you. It's a rare temper that occurs only when you insult her. Don't insult her.
She was the perfect match for Ellie. Ellie, who played polo occasionally (against no one but her riding tutor of course), knew how to handle a ponyta. At least she thinks she does..
