Note: This is personal preference and with the exception of the GCN games, only factors in mainstream games. Comments follow. I reserve the right to delete any comments that I perceive to be bashing me for my opinions.
EDIT: Well, I already had to delete one comment because someone wanted to be rude about it...
1. Pokemon Platinum
2. Pokemon Leaf Green*/Fire Red
3. Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness
4. Pokemon Colosseum
5. Pokemon Pearl*/Diamond
6. Pokemon Crystal
7. Pokemon Soul Silver*/Heart Gold
8. Pokemon Silver*/Gold
9. Pokemon White*/Black
10. Pokemon Blue*/Red
11. Pokemon Sapphire*/Ruby
12. Pokemon Emerald
13. Pokemon Yellow
* Slight preference for this game of the pair due to better version exclusives.
Notes: Despite FR/LG having powerful ammunition in the form of Leaf, Platinum still wins out for superior gameplay (you get the Vs. Seeker AND Gym Leader rematches, get to buy your own piece of real estate, and explore a whole other DIMENSION.)
-The inclusion of Red hurt G/S/C/HG/SS severely in the rankings.
-Crystal ranks higher than HG/SS because of a reason I can't explain... it just has this charm to it that the remakes didn't.
-The unavailability of a female playable character hurt R/B/Y/G/S.
-B/W get relatively low marks for numerous small issues including lack of Vs. Seeker, horrible menu implementation, Exp system that hinders the OCD level grinders like me, the Dakim-clone Champion, and Hilda's godawful fashion sense.
-R/B honestly would've ranked worse if not for one thing... My fave Pokemon, Persian PWNED back then because Slash would critical almost every time.
-R/S/E didn't age well, and I didn't appreciate the bizarre town concepts. Those outweigh what those games did get right, such as Secret Bases and Contests, and evenb outweigh awesome Pokemon like Flygon and Metagross.
-Emerald scores worse than R/S because the new color schemes of the player characters did not help anything... aside from losing track of your character in the tall grass. Oh yeah, and Wallace isn't half the champion (or man) that Steven is.
-Yellow saddles you with the Worst. Starter. Ever.
