Got the idea from reading through some old topics about new types and what not...
Anyways, what are some changes you'd make to the type chart of Pokemon? And, also, would there be any changes in weaknesses, resistances, etc.?
Personally, I'd change the following:
+Make "Grass" "Nature-type". An aesthetic change if anything, but not all Grass-types are necessarily grass, ya know?
+Merge Ground and Rock into "Earth-type". The separation really bugs me, and it also would free up some existing Pokemon to have a second type that were otherwise stuck with Ground/Rock, like Rhydon and Golem. Earth would pretty much have the same advantages and weaknesses as Rock and Ground have, only merged.
+Change "Flying" to "Avian-type". Again, an aesthetic change, but sounds better than Flying, or Bird, for that matter.
+Make Water take super-effective damage from Poison-type moves. Pollution, anyone?
+Add Light and Crystal-types. Credit to BleuVII for this one. If you want more detail, check out his showcase thread~
+Add Wind-type. There are quite a few Pokemon that are of the Flying type which just don't seem right to me. The Hoppip line, Mantine, the Drifloon line, Rotom-F, Shaymin-S, Tornadous, Thunderous, Landurous, and even Pokemon that aren't Flying-types, but do have some sort of association with Wind, like Castform.
Wind-type:
SE: Fire, Nature, Earth
NVE: Bug, Avian, Metal, Electric, Water
Weak: Avian, Psychic, Electric, Poison
Resist: Fighting, Normal, Earth, Fire
Immune: Fire
Reasoning: Fire is put out by strong winds, and nature and earth get pulled up and thrown around by gale-force winds. Bugs and Avians fly with the wind. Metal is unmoved and electricity and water work with the wind (storms). Avians fly through the wind. Psychic-types can manipulate the wind. Electricity can superheat and obliterate winds and noxious poisons can pollute the air. Fighting, Normal, and Earth can't really damage Wind well. Fire is pretty useless.
Now, what're your ideas and changes?
