Redux: The Sinnoh Stories

Welcome to the ancient and beautiful Sinnoh region, a land of majesty and of mystery. The Sinnoh region is home to pristine fields, blistering snowfields, rugged mountains and eerie forests. It is home to large, modernistic cities and small towns steeped in the legends of the region. It is also your home. This is not necessarily the same Sinnoh you will have become familiar with in Diamond, Pearl and/or Platinum however. It has been many years since those days and now there have been a few changes to the gym line-up and elite four to keep things fresh.

Whatever your age or reason, you are a new trainer from Solaceon Town, or somewhere nearby, about to embark on your own adventure through this fantastical region. During your travels, you will meet successes and failures as you take on the gyms of Sinnoh and develop your own unique tale.​

Gameplay

This is to be a typical journey RP, whilst your character may have other aims, the general underlying goal is to complete the Sinnoh gym challenge and participate in the pokemon league at the end. Aside from that, everything is pretty much up to you as far as your character's story goes.

You will begin your journey in Solaceon Town, heading towards the little town of Celestic and your first gym challenge. After that you're welcome to move on as you're ready. To move on to a new section you just have to let me know that you're ready and I'll post the relevant information. There is however some information you should know aside from that.

Capturing Pokemon

You are able to capture as many pokemon as you like in this RP, however you may only carry six with you at a time. If your party is full, other pokemon will immediately be transported into the PC system. As we reach each new area, I will post describing that location and listing the wild pokemon available there as well as letting you know of any optional special events in that location. The moves and ability of any wild pokemon you encounter will be totally up to you however you must end capture posts at the shaking of the pokeball so I can determine whether or not your capture will be a success. If your capture does fail, you're welcome to try again or to simply move on. You may trade pokemon with other players, but not with NPCs.​

Moves and Evolution

There are no levels in this RP and as such no specific order in which your pokemon will learn moves. You must post at least once in each area (so no magically skipping from city to city), in each area you can teach each one of your team one new move from anywhere in their movepool. You need to keep track of your team and their moves in the RP's etherpad. Pokemon may have up to six moves instead of the typical four.

When you feel like a member of your team is ready to evolve, just let me know and I'll determine whether or not you can evolve it or not. Pokemon will not need to be traded or given an item (with the exception of stones) to evolve.

Mega-evolution does exist, but it is extremely rare and nobody will be beginning with the ability to mega-evolve.​

Gyms

This game will use many of the original gyms from the games, but there's also going to be a few changes to the line-up. You can battle a gym-leader whenever you're ready, but please end your post before the gym leader makes a decision on whether or not you have earned a badge. I'll let you know if you earn the badge or not, even if you didn't necessarily win.​

Special Events

Some areas will come with optional side quests or special events that you are able to enjoy as well as your character's main story. These will be mentioned in area posts.​

Hometown: Solaceon Town

Appearance: Refer to image for design. Vince is very big into music and can't go anywhere without his headphones and PokePod. He loves listening to the newest music to come out and creating his own playlists with them. Also carries a bright green backpack to hold all of his items he'll need on his journey, such as an extra pair of clothes. Lastly, Vince wears a water droplet locket around his neck with a picture of his family and Pokemon on the last Christmas before his journey.

Interests and Goals: Vince just wants to experience the world. He has never left the safety of Solaceon Town and is getting anxious. He has seen how beautiful the Sinnoh Region is and is ready to get out on his own and meet as many people and Pokemon as he can There is no way he can handle living in Solaceon for the rest of his life and be a cowboy or daycare worker. He has only ever lived a sheltered life and its time for him to live a bit more dangerously and on the edge. His end goal is to find out who he is and finally figure out what he wants to do with his life with his Pokemon friends.

Family: Vince's family consists of a stay at home mother, a father who is a scientist and 2 little sisters. His parents were very cautious growing and would never let Vince get hurt in any way. This meant never letting him fall down or fail in something, causing Vince to become very sheltered and unaware of what the real world is like. His two sisters, Jenna and Daphne are very rambunctious 9 year old twins who are always finding ways to get in trouble. This included an infamous situation with the local daycare and glitter.

Strengths:
- Positive attitude: Vince is incapable of letting himself get down. All he wants to do is learn and just have fun on his journey. Regardless of win or loss, he know there is something he can learn about himself and his Pokemon.

- Resourceful: Vince spent many nights with his father when he was younger in the surrounding woods of Solaceon camping. This allowed some great bonding between them and allowed for many teaching moments regarding how to keep yourself alive on your own. Even if it was only in those woods.

- Strong Swimmer: Growing up, his parents made sure all their kids knew how to swim. This was very important to them since there was a small river outside of town that the family frequented. Vince proved to be more than capable of holding his own as he could even fight against the currents better than some water Pokemon. This has allowed to bond very well with Water Pokemon and even lead to his eventual first Pokemon.

Weaknesses:
- Naive: as stated with his above average sheltered life, Vince is not aware of what the real world is really like. He is very trusting and thinks nothing could ever go wrong as long as he has his Pokemon and a great attitude.

- Fear of Electric types: Due to his great bond with Water types, Vince has developed a fear of Electric types, Water's greatest adversary in Pokemon. One time, A stray Pikachu wandered near the river he frequented and instead of staying calm and befriending it, Vince immediately jumped out of the river and ran home, not noticing that Pikachu just wanted a drink of water. The fears progressed as he watched a Floatzel get badly beaten by an Electabuzz in the Sinnoh League on TV.

SHAYLEE MARKSON

Hometown: Solaceon, recently moved there from Snowpoint

Interests and Goals: Shaylee moved to Solaceon two years ago and absolutely hates it. Going on a journey is a convenient way to get away from the town and experience the rest of the region, as well as hopefully making it back to Snowpoint, her true hometown, someday. She misses the northern city, despite its cold and bleak appearance.

Apart from that, she also just wants to explore, get out from under her parent's house, free of the responsibility of taking care of her sick and aging father, or helping her mother with her work. She is tired of having to take responsibility of the family while her mother is away and take care of her three younger siblings, basically taking the role of mother. She loves her family, but she hates the responsibility and wants to be able escape that and only have herself to look out for out in the world.

Family: Her family situation is a bit awkward due to her father's sickly health, and in order to try to help the situation the entire family moved south from Snowpoint to Solaceon in hopes that the warmer weather would help. As her father has to stay home all day and can't move around much, Shaylee's mother works and brings in the money to support the rest of the family. As a result Shaylee ends up taking care of the rest of the family; making meals, cleaning the house, doing laundry, and other such boresome chores.

Her three younger siblings she adores, despite how troublesome they may be. Her two younger brothers and sister, all a year apart at seven eight and nine years old, are always getting into some sort of trouble. She often compares taking care of them and watching them to herding Skitties. She also has an older brother who works in Jubilife City as a camera operator and editor for the Sinnoh TV Network. The rest of her family is moving in at his place in the city where her father can get more medical attention, leaving her free to explore the region.

Strengths:

Responsible: Having to take care of her younger siblings has led Shaylee to be a more responsible person; being able to make decisions, not putting off things and procrastinating, and is used to being independent of other authority. She also knows pretty much everything she needs to about cooking, cleaning clothes, and other household duties.

Honest: Shaylee hates lying, she is practically incapable of it. Her father drilled ethics into her at a young age, and the results are that she hates lying, liars, and other things such as stealing or such. However, this can be a bit of a drawback as well. She expects others to act with the same kind of morality, and so she can be easily deceived by others, and finds it hard to forgive others that go against her own moral code.

Cold-Blooded: Being from Snowpoint City up in the mountains of northern Sinnoh where it's covered in snow about seven or eight months of the year, Shaylee is used to the cold, even likes it. A lot of it comes from just being prepared, owning the proper clothes and such, but she also just enjoys the cold. This of course comes with a dislike for heat in general, not liking most of the southern areas, hating the beach, and hating heat and humidity.

Weaknesses:

Overconfident: She hates failing, but in recent years that's not something that really happened. She has gotten quite good at taking care of her family and rolling with the punches when things do go wrong, and she feels she has gotten quite good at it. This can be a bad thing though when she does fail, as she takes it personally as if it is her fault, like there is something wrong with her personally, even if her failing was caused by someone or something else.

Unsociable: While not being strictly introverted, Shaylee is uncomfortable around others. Much of this is due to having to take care of her family and not being able to have much of a social life, as well as having to leave most of her friends behind in Snowpoint, and not really bothering to get new friends in Solaceon.

Pig-Headed: Shaylee is used to having her word being pretty much law and taking authority with her younger siblings, and her parents never really used their authority over her. So she never really had anybody bossing her around for the past few years, which is not necessarily a good thing. While usually responsible about things and decisions, she is used to getting her way, and can be very stubborn when she doesn't.

Fear of Not Being Needed: Being relied on for years makes her feel like she has to contribute, and she hates and is afraid of not being needed anymore. Outwardly, she strives for freedom, but hates the isolation that it might bring, even among a group of travelers. This could lead to her being abused so that she can feel needed and like she is contributing.

Name: Drake Winston

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Hometown: Originally from snowpoint,he moved down to Celestic to escape the cold after his parents got lost in a snowstorm.

Appearance: Drake has a super sexy mullet with a streak of white that hangs down over his right eye and the back of it curls up around his shoulders. He always wears a hoodie that's a few sizes too large for him. He has random bouts of depression at times and enjoys the excess space for curling up in. Other than that he usually has on some black sweats with a snowflake pattern sewn into them at the left knee. Every now and then when he goes out be'll wear his bright yellow cap backwards so that his white streak hangs out through the hole on the front.

His eyes are a crystal blue color and his eyebrows are spread thin and colored blonde. He has a small scar on his lower lip from the first time he encountered his Larvitar. He has a fanny pack which he keeps most of his things in on the go. It remains firmly strapped to his right hip.

Interests and Goals: His goal is to go on a journey. He doesn't really have any aspirations at the moment, and saw a group of other people leaving Celestic one day to go on an adventure to beat all the gyms and so he decided he'd give it a shot.

Family: Mother and father - deceased

Much like Drake,his parents were nobodies. Lazy, good for nothing nobodies. Neither of them had worked a day in their life and only ever ocassionally left the house go get groceries. Drakes grandpardnts had apparenrly however been some pretty important somebodies though. He had never met them, but apparently when his grandma died his grandpa gave his son all of his finances and went to live in solitude so he coukd properly mourn his wife.


Drakes mother had been quite intelligent back in her yiuth, even managing to outsmart an Alakazam in a few games of strategy when she was a teen. But once she met Drakes father she decided that she woukd take advntage of the wealth he had inherited and decided to never do anything with ber life. They had used to own and live on their own privte island, but they blew through the majorify of the inheritancw in the katter of a few years. and when they found ghat that were going go have chikd they decided fo make the sacrifice and sold thd island for a frwcgion of its original woth.


After selling off theid luxuries they still founs they had onlh just enough moneh to live moderately comfortbly in the harshest of climatss in sinnoh while they raised their newborn child. They moved to snowpoint and then lived there in sub optimal conditions as their son grew and followed in their nobody footsteps. Then one day they decided to leave the house for unknown reasons and then were lost in one of the worst of the area's recorded snowstorms. Drake never knew why they left. They had a fridge full of food and plenty to drink. None of the entertainment thingamawhatsits were broken, so they had no reason to leave.

Strengths: Highly intelligent: he was lucky enough to inherit a portion of his mothers intellect. Thiugh its not nearly as high as his moms due to his fathers added genes.Thick zkinned: years of being and living with worthless nobodies has raised his tolerance for just about everything. Thiugh he does have the random depression, its pretty rare for one or even a handful of things to set hik off and show any emotion.
Basic survival skills: while he doesnt really know how to do much, he did traverse the harsh climqtes of the mountain and made his way down to celestic without any pokemon, food or any real wy to protect himself.

Weaknesses: Lacks any sort of motivation or desire to do anything. If something comes up and it takes more than one or two tries to overcome it then hes more likely to just skip over it rather than trya third time.He has a deep fear of loneliness, which is one of the reasons he set off on this journey.
Prone to randoms bouts of depression that render him more or less completely useless for an uncertain amount of time depending on what set it off.
Doesnt acgually like pokemon. He only caught larvitar because it was causing troubke in Celestic and he was tryubg to sleep. He coukd honestly live a fulfilling kife withiut ever cafching another pokemon. Most of tgem just seem anniying or too troublesome for hin to deal witg fighging or taking care of.

Heeey... I always wanted to do a Sinnoh RP. Might as well get something.

Name: Gelius "Burning Will" Clayton

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Hometown: Hearthome

Appearance: Gelius is tall, standing at 1,85 Meters, Surprising for his age since most of his family, with exception of his brother, are short people. He has his wild messy hair with brownish color. With a white tone on the skin, Gelius can easily get a sunburn. He has eyes that resemble an Emerald, making his grandmother, who already passed away, say that he had "Emeralds on his eyes.". Has a scar in the left arm due an attack of a Vespiqueen.

Gelius usually wears a Green and Black Horizontally striped Jacket with a hoodie and a Light Green T-Shirt under it. However he is also seen in some occasions with a White Jacket or a Black one, both with Hoodies as well. Yet, you never see him, with the hoodie, only when he loses his black hat, the thing that identifies him so easily.He always has Black and Green Insulating Finger-less Gloves, because Mark always pulled pranks on him with little shocks. With a sort of Goggles, that resemble Go-Goggles, is also seen with him in many occasions. Yet he did not found a use for them. Gelius normally wears Black Jean Pants and Black Tennis shoes. If it's cold around, then he will wear a black scarf. During his training, he will wear his training suit, which his shirt is White, and his his Black Track Suit Pants. You can see him with a Billiard Cue, which he normally will say that is to aim Poke Balls to Pokemon to a vital spot, even thought that its not proved if it is an actual strategy to catch Pokemon, so it is not known if he carries the billiard cue for another reasons.

Interests and Goals: His Objective is to conquer the Pokemon League. After his Brother, Sister and Father failed, it is up to him to take the Family Tradition. He does this tradition to prove Mark that he can be batter then him. Another of his objectives is to find more about Pokemon and ancient things. He also wants to see the world. Of course, the last objective is to find about the Stories he was told about the Huge Pokemon of Snowpoint (Regigigas).

Family: Older Brother (Mark), Twin Sister (Mary), Older Sister (Lily), Younger Sister (Penny), Father (Edward), Mother (Laura) and Sneasel.

His Older Brother is the typical guy who pulls pranks on the younger ones. Considering to be the best, he can sometimes being annoying, making Gelius to sometimes prefer his sisters above him. Both have been rivals since young, but since Mark left for his challenge, the rivalry stopped for a time. Mark is the only member of the family who went farther than everyone on the Challenge, making to the Victory Road.

His Twin Sister is a very nice, happy-go-lucky girl. Mary is the typical person who cheers up everyone. Being the target on almost every guy on the school, Gelius is very overprotective on her. She took the Challenge 1 week before Gelius, and no one has gotten news from her since then...

His Older Sister is the one who is more with the friends than the family. Lily is nice to everyone, but also has the cold look on her face. She took on the Family Challenge, and only reached to Snowpoint, making her the one with less progress. Due to that, she started to practice more for contests. On the Mean Time, she is a recognizable, but not famous, Pokemon Coordinator.

His Younger Sister, which only has 14, is the nice one and easily lets herself down. Penny is the next one on the lineage to take on the Family Challenge, but she is practicing to be a Coordinator. She just passed from the Normal Rank, Rising on the classifications.

Edward is the man who keeps the family together. Father of Gelius, and an Experienced Pokemon Trainer, Edward took on the Challenge, and only reached to Sunnyshore City, surprisingly behind Mark. He now is working on the Pokemon Gym, as a guide. He trained both sons, and hopped that his daughters had follow his steps, but the girls wanted to take part in contests.

Laura is the mother. She never took on the Family Challenge, because at the time, Edward was taking it, and she followed him, ending on both marrying. Laura is very caring, and now works at the Daycare. She used to be a Recognizable Coordinator, and taught her daughters to follow her steps. She also wanted to Gelius and Mark to follow those steps, but both chose the Pokemon Training.

Sneasel is Gelius' "Weapon of Choice". Sneasel was brought back home from the vacations in Snowpoint. Sneasel was injured, and Gelius took care of him, and Sneasel eventually chose to stay with Gelius. Considered to be Gelius' Best friend, they pass all the time together, reason that Sneasel does not go into a pokeball.

Strengths: He has great aiming, being able to throw things at a precise point when needed, one of the reasons that Gelius states of carrying the Billiard Cue. Gelius is great at solving problems and puzzles. Nice, and hates seeing Pokemon or people suffering, he will help anyone you know. He always has a trick up on the sleeve, which means that at the moments the opponent less expects, he can give a surprise attack. Since he grew up on a family full of trainers, he is familiarized with battles.

Weaknesses: Gelius is Mischievous. The tricks up on the sleeves also applies here, since his Mischievousness is extreme that can bring him to do pranks to get on his way. He lies perfectly well, making this both a trait and a weakness. Even if he can get easily an excuse, it can bring him troubles on the future. Gelius is also afraid of Ariados and Vespiqueen, due to being attacked by them. He is not able to lift heavy things, leaving him to the more intellectual work.

Starter pokemon: Sneasel, Male, Pickpocket For Ability. Moves: Scratch, Quick Attack, Ice Punch, Taunt, Leer, Bite

I hope I can keep my character to stay a bit dumb in the RP lol. It is hard for me to get character to act like they don't know anything about pokemon after watching the show for nearly 20 years lol.
