It isn't impossible to get a shiny starter. Many people purposely aim to get shiny starters when they start their game by soft resetting. Whether it is fake or not, I suggest you look at its details given in the game. If anything looks suspicious then it could be possible. If you feel uncomfortable with the trade, then I say try to reverse the trade, it never hurts to ask. Other than that, I can tell you that this doesn't belong here.
