  • Drake was the hardest one for me as I did not have any super effective moves against his dragon types. Always took me a while and several revives to be able to defeat him.

  • Not gonna lie, I remember being a bit disappointed by the Hoenn Elite Four, mainly because 3/4 of them had the exact same types as the Kanto Elite Four. Glacia in particular bothered me, since she only had 2 Glalie, and 2 Sealeo + a Walrein. Would've rather seen a Grass or Ground type E4 member just to change things up a bit.

  • Oh boy, Hoenn's Elite Four was the first one I ever made it to (I had a pre-owned Pokémon Blue that was completed and I literally couldn't get through Ice Path in Silver but whateverrr) and boy was I hyped to finally get there! Buddying up with my partner Ace the Swampert which was level 100 and the only Pokémon I'd used that entire playthrough. My best friend at the time was staying with me at my dad's place and we were playing through it at the same time. I loved it so much and boy, was it an experience.

    In terms of who stood out to me I have always been kinda drawn to Sydney. He's my second favourite E4 member after Grimsley in Unova (I think I just find Dark type trainers to be the coolest I guess ahaha). I always thought Drake was pretty cool too but in hindsight he kinda is a bit of a re-skinned Lance but less cool isn't he?

  • I gotta say this Gen's E4 was pretty challenging, but could've been way better. Not saying they're bad members, they're pretty good, but i breezed past Sydney and Phoebe with only my Cacturne. He also gave Glacia a hard time, even though he's weak against Ice types. I swept Drake with my Swampert or something with Ice Beam. But Wallace was an outstanding fight, though.

  • Does Steven count? He was the Elite Four's leader, right? I thought he was really interesting and I liked how he had some sort of "goal" in mind (studying rocks) and how he was actually pretty tough.

  • I never particularly enjoyed the G3 Elite Four or story. I don't know what it was about it, but it felt painful to play sometimes, but I couldn't tell you specifically why. Maybe I just didn't find a Pokemon I overall enjoyed using? Hm. Well, the E4 gave less of a challenge for me than G2 did back in the day. I will give it points for using Wailord though. Don't know how you'd battle around something that huge in such a tiny room...

    Funny how you mentioned Drake. Because the word "Drake" means "Dragon" in Swedish. So basically you have a Dragon-Master with the name Dragon....
    I found the E4 grueling in Ruby, because I didn't understand the new complex EV-system, I was just used to overgrinding and then slashing and body slamming the shit out of everything. And when I took my level 71 Sceptile to the league, I got my @ss wh000ped big time! I realised I couldn't leaf-blade my way through it this time and had to actually have a strategy...

  • Never really had any trouble beating them. Drake's my fav, while Phoebe's Dusclops (the first one which has Protect/Confuse Ray) is the most annoying Pokemon >:(.

    Phoebe was always my favorite even though she had so many duplicate pokemon. Ruby was the first game I played so seeing a ghost type specialist was really cool playing through the first time.

  • While Sidney and Drake were nice, Phoebe was meh, and Glacia... Ugh, so much wasted potential.

    I hate Glacia with a passion solely due to the fact that she should've been a Grass-type Elite Four member, but INSTEAD GAME FREAK MADE HER SPECIALIZE IN THE ICE TYPE.

  • Eh. It was all more of the same that I've seen before, and it was almost handed to you with just a few Pokémon moves and the right strategy. Duplicate leader Types and elite four copies have always bugged me. Grass type, Normal type, Electric type, Rock type, Flying type, and now the Faerie type...

    Glacia = Lorelei
    Sidney = Karen
    Phoebe = Agatha
    Drake = Lance

    I thought that the duplicate Pokémon in the elite four was more than a tad sloppy and lent an easy win against trainers like Drake whose Pokémon were all incredibly weak to Ice type Moves

  • "I am the last of the Pokémon League Elite Four, Drake the Dragon master! In their natural state, Pokémon are wild living things. They are free. At times, they hinder us. At times, they help us. For us to battle alongside Pokémon as partners, do you know what it takes? Do you know what is needed?"
