Hopefully its not too late to join. Also hey Strikit! I know its been a while, but I'm glad to see you have another RP open.
Also, I'm taking a screenwriting class so its kind of hard to transition back into that narrative style of writing.
Name: Abel Rivers
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Appearance: Abel is a biracial male with light caramel colored skin and a clear complexion. He is fairly tall at 6 foot 1 and has a thin frame packed with lean muscle making him very athletic. His black curly hair is cut close on the sides but a bit longer on top. His cold gaze is softened by his smooth hazel eyes. His face is very sharp and keen with a protruding nose and defined jaw line.
Abel's wardrobe normally consists of high end clothing from blazers to cardigans. All of his clothes are tailored to fit and his pants are always slim but comfortable. His footwear varies from combat boots to high end loafers. Since the outbreak however, the only clothing he has now are a white undershirt, a grey long-sleeved sweater vest, a black cardigan with a red 'R' stitched on the front, maroon pants, and black combat boots.
Personality: Abel is a very quiet and reserved person. He rarely speaks unless he has something important to say. This is probably more from his ideology of being better than everyone else that aren't on his level. When he isn't deep in his thoughts, Abel often expresses his passions with a fierce debating tone; he is very open and expressive when the topic in discussion sparks his interest. Abel prefers to be on his own but doesn't mind small groups. Too many people make him uncomfortable.
Problem solving and leading are Abel's strong points. He hates wasting time and prefers to get things done as soon as possible and doing everything perfectly. Despite being a good leader, he doesn't like to be in the lead as it requires him to speak up too much. He is more of the observant type; he acts based on his observations. With this mindset he often abandons the group to achieve the goal himself while everyone else is still debating the action to take. Due to his perfectionist attitude, he often beats himself up when he makes a mistake. This self-destruction leads him to make rash decisions in the end and makes him emotionally unstable; being very sensitive and insecure about his flaws. Behind his stern face he has a very fragile heart, being sensitive to the smallest of things. Inside he is constantly crying about his bad mistakes and his lonely life, feeling as though his parents never truly loved him.
At the beginning of the outbreak, Abel was in the comfort of a secret Team Rocket base stationed in Hoenn. There they did inhumane tests on the infected and even tested the virus on Pokemon. Abel's view on the matter is neutral like most things. He doesn't necessarily care about the infected and won't hesitate to kill them, but he also doesn't fear them.
History: Abel was born in Pewter City to Samantha, a successful professor specialized in fossil Pokemon, and Jahreem Rivers, a wealthy entrepreneur with stakes in businesses all over Kanto. Abel grew up luxuriously in a mansion right outside of Pewter City. He grew up alone as his parents were always busy and he wasn't allowed to play with the other kids in the city. Despite his life being set forever, Abel wanted something more; he had a strong taste for adventure.
When he came of age, Abel's parents surprisingly allowed him to set off on his journey; a private driver took him down to Pallet Town. However, Abel was dissatisfied with the choice of starter Pokemon; he had his parents import a shiny Cyndaquil from special breeders in Johto. Abel traveled every inch of Kanto, traveling using the seemingly unlimited funds his parents supplied him. He was unimpressed with the various Pokemon as he was used to them growing up. He didn't capture Pokemon and his Cyndaquil was his only partner, in which they formed a very strong bond.
At the age of 15, Abel and a few friends he made on his adventures settled in Fuschia City. Abel was tired of the childish adventures and had bigger plans; they organized and started a Pokemon smuggling operation out of the Safari Zone. For 2 years, Abel's gang grew into a real threat, stealing as many Pokemon as the Safari Zone imported. Unfortunately, he caught the attention of Team Rocket whom kidnapped him at the age of 17. The head of Team Rocket was actually impressed with Abel's success; he started as a grunt and worked his way up to an elite position quickly.
At the beginning of the outbreak, Team Rocket immediately sent a large group to a secret base in Hoenn. They sent out teams to capture the infected and bring them into the base where they conducted research on them. Abel was put in charge of organizing teams to send out into the field. During a long night in his office he was visited by one of the other, much older Admin's daughter whom he had a relationship with. The young woman's father caught them and reported Abel claiming he had raped his daughter. Abel was punished by being deranked and put under command to go out into the field to capture and contain rare Pokemon at risk of extinction from the virus..
On a mission, him and a team of 5 were west of Lilycove hunting Absol when a group of infected attacked. All of his team members were killed or infected as they attempted to flee to Lilycove. Abel made it safely into the abandoned Poke'Center.
Pokemon:
-Scarlet
-Typhlosion
-Female
-Scarlet's abnormally soft fur is a beautiful deep reddish-pinkish color; her underbelly a smooth cream. Her gentle eyes glow red and are filled with love for Abel. She is specially bred to have a longer, more slender body than regular Typhlosion to appear more cat-like. In battle, her fire glows almost as gentle as her heart, but when Abel is in danger it bursts into a scorching hot flame that glows almost blue.
-Scarlet is almost always happy. She is very optimistic and the most positive thing in Abel's life. She seems to be the only one to make him smile. Her friendly attitude carries on to others as well and she gets along with almost every human and Pokemon she meets. She can throw tantrums when she doesn't get her way but she is a very understanding Pokemon; intelligent and considerate.
-Scarlet was bred through careful gene selection and cross-breeding to achieve a very distinct type of Cyndaquil. The Johto breeders sell the specially bred Pokemon to wealthy buyers such as Abel's family. Scarlet was shipped to Abel in Kanto from Johto at the beginning of Abel's Pokemon journey. She was Abel's only Pokemon and evolved early on into Typhlosion due to a deep love shown by Abel and plenty of battle experience.
-Absol
-Absol
-Male
-This Absol is very petite. His blades are small and almost embarrassing. The fur around his neck is very long and furry giving him a soft appearance.
-This particular Absol is a very sad and depressing creature. He is often seen with his head hung and rarely moves. His eyes are deep and moody. He has an unusual similarity to Abel's dark, moody side when he gets emotional.
-During the Absol hunt, Abel and his team were on, this one caught Abel's attention. He was sitting alone, whimpering in the mountains behind a couple of rocks. When approached he didn't run. Instead, he looked into Abel's eyes then back down at the ground and continued to whimper, and that is when Abel felt a connection. Abel threw the Poke'ball and the Absol didn't put up any fight.
Roleplay Sample:
The cloudy sky provided no rain in the dry, arid atmosphere. Abel and his team were exhausted; after a long day of hiking they were finally near the peak of the mountain. They were tasked with mapping the locations of Pokemon, Absol in particular, and areas with a high concentration of the infected. Due to the population of Pokemon dropping, Team Rocket began to hunt down rarer Pokemon in fear of them becoming extinct.
This is rediculous. Abel stood with his arms crossed. Him and 4 others stood attentively listening to an Admin's directions.
From riches to rags...This guy is so pathetic. Abel hated taking orders; since a young boy during his journeys in Kanto, he had been a leader. He led a small group of Pokemon thieves that eventually became an infamous gang in Fuschia feared by the entire Southern Region of Kanto. Even after becoming part of Team Rocket he worked his way up into a leadership position.
"Ab...Absol...Absoool." There was a faint whimpering coming from behind a pile of rocks. Abel left the group to the check it out. His head peaked over the rocks, he sees a small Absol crying with his head down.
How convenient. He pulls a Poke'ball from his belt and approaches the Absol but it doesn't run.
Now that's strange...You're not gonna run like the rest? The Absol looked up at Abel and its dark, gloomy eyes struck Abel with a familiar feeling. Abel stared into the it's dark pupils as if looking into his soul and the Absol stared back into Abel's. Abel throws the Poke'ball and without a fight, the Absol is captured.
"Rivers!" The Admin and the rest of the group appears behind him. "You're always running off. That type of B.S. is gonna get you put back on probation." His voice was too soft to provoke any fear, especially not in Abel, and he simply nodded. "Okay..Now...Get back over here and let me finish briefing you!" The Admin pathetically ordered. It was simply hard to maintain a threatening position when it came to addressing Abel's cold gaze.
Abel sat on a boulder trying to listen. The Admin was going on about pointless topics regarding the area. Everyone knew and feared that an infected would show up any minute except for him. He had just gained an Admin position and hadn't had much experience doing field work since the outbreak. And just as everyone expected, an infected came hopping from a boulder behind the Admin and landed on him, ripping and chewing the Admin to pieces.
"Aww crap! I knew it was way too quiet!" One of the Grunts yelled as he pulled out his pistol. He shot three times and each hit the infected in the body. The other Grunts pulled out their guns as well and began to shoot.
These idiots..if they keep shooting they are going to attract more. Abel slowly backed away. A low growl came from behind him and he turned quickly to face an infected crawling towards him. "Alright. Scarlet let's go!" He sends out the radiant Typhlosion and she screams fiercely.
"Flame thrower!" Abel ordered. A fiery stream scorched the infected. Abel put Scarlet back in her Poke'ball and fleed down the mountain, leaving the Grunts behind. On his way down the mountain he out maneuvered several infected trying to climb up the mountain. At the base he sprinted full speed eastbound until he arrived at the outskirts of Lilygrove City.
Good...Now I can bunker down in one of these buildings until day time. He looked up at the sky; the sun was now falling and a red hue from the sunset painted the cloudy sky. He drew his pistol from his holster and a silencer strapped to his utility belt then screwed it onto the barrel. Abel slowly walked through the city, avoiding any infected he seen until he reached the abandoned Poke'center. Inside he began to board up the windows and door. He sent Scarlet from her Poke'ball to keep him company and to help him keep watch as he slept. It was night time; eerie growls and howls filled the night air.
