No you can't trade in a Geodude because it is available in your game. However, there are a few Rock Types that are only in Y which you could use. Larvitar for example.

Okay, thanks for making that clear. I guess I will just rush through the first part to get my first Rock type then, cause I already had a team in mind.

Kronos and his entourage travelled swiftly through the treacherous Victory Road with help of detailed map Kronos acquired ahead of time and arrived at the Indigo League.
After buying some supplies and a little final training Kronos began the Elite Four challenge.
After struggling a bit with Lorelei mainly due to her powerful Slowbro Kronos faces the great pretender, Bruno, and proceeded to have Tefnut show him what a true warrior was like.
Agatha gave Kronos minimal trouble thanks to the majority of her team having a weakness to ground moves and her golbat was no match for Tefnut's mental prowess.
Kronos' battle with Lance began well enough with his gyarados and 2 dragonairs falling easily enough to Tefnut, but then Kronos faced his greatest foe yet, an Aerodactyl that was faster than all of Kronos' Pokemon.
After an almighty struggle it was finally felled by Tefnut who was then back stabbed by Lance's Dragonite Thunder leaving the rest to hold it off til she recovered.
And in the end Lance fell before the might of Kronos' legendary warriors allowing Kronos to enter his new throne room.
Unfortunately a hobo with an ungodly stench had managed to enter and block the way in and Kronos' Warriors were too exhausted to remove him so they were forced to leave in order to allow the room to air out and have security escort the hobo out.
Upon Kronos' return the Elite Four wished a rematch to reconfirm how powerful Kronos truly was and he showed them that after seeing their techniques just once he was able to wipe them out easily upon a second bout (even that stupid Aerodactyl) and allowed him to approach his throne again.
Although the hobo was still there Kronos was ready with a thick gas mask at hand and with his fighters' help extricated the homeless man forever leaving his throne clear of obstacles.
After Professor Oak came and congratulated Kronos' for his victory, and apologized for the homeless man's behavior as he was apparently his grandson though Kronos didn't see the resemblance, Oak carved the name of Kronos and his children into an elaborate stone tablet immortalizing their strength forever.
However Kronos knew his journey was not yet complete as their was one being who would challenge his might. Therefore, Kronos traveled back to Cerulean City and entered the mysterious Cerulean Cave.
After a short stroll into the deepest depths of the cavern Kronos faced his arch-nemesis, Mewtwo. But after witnessing his power Kronos decided none of his champions could match this foe so Kronos faced him in one on one combat. After a grueling struggle lasting a full week of non-stop battle Kronos grasped the ball holding his subjugated enemy, victorious. (Actually just tossed a Master ball was not willing to deal with a lvl 70 legendary Psychic type no one deserves to go through that)
At last Kronos' journey has ended and with his task done he ascends to the heavens with his chosen ones by his side to reign over the continent of Kanto for all of time.

    Yellow complete. Next up SoulSilver.

Hellooooo to the world of Pokemon! This is your favorite radio jockey, the wonderful and fabulous DJ Jackie coming to you live from her new home in New Bark Town! A lot has happened since we last broadcast so here's the recap. One year ago today a powerful trainer called Kronos took on the Pokemon Gym challenge in Kanto starting in Pallet Town. But Kronos wasn't content doing it the easy way and did a special challenge of just using fighting types the whole way. And the craziest part is it worked! Kronos became the Champion of Kanto by sheer force of will! But shortly after he left and was never seen again ~gasp~. With the Champion seat empty Champion for a day Assfart (who goes by Blue these days) took over til a new challenger arrived. A few months later and one such challenger appeared known as Red. Red's powerful team managed to crush the Elite Four and Blue with apparent ease (Wowzers!)! As the new Champion of Kanto Red made a declaration "The Pokemon Gym challenge is too easy with just one region, if someone wants to take my title they'll need to conquer 2 of them." After that day Red left for the Deadly Mt. Silver without another word. Now some of you wonderful listeners might be wondering why I'm telling you this, well it's simple. I Jacquelyn a.k.a. DJ Jackie have decided to take on Red's challenge but that's not all we're following in old Kronos' Footsteps and going with only fighting type Pokemon. And we're starting with the Johto region as Professor Elm has decided to support our efforts by starting us off with a cute little Totodile who we at the station have started calling James after the ravishing James Bond since he's such a little heartbreaker. And with that our challenge has started with our first objective clear: get a fighting type. And with a small apology for the expo dump this is DJ Jackie singing off.

    James (Totodile) lvl 5
    Placeholder til first fighting type

  • So after beating Claire for the Rising Badge, a week straight of trying to do a lot of grinding on Victory Road to get my grass children a little over leveled so they could maybe stand a chance against the E4 + Lance... I am now victorious. lol

So over the last week I remembered that pokémon that evolve via stone don't actually learn new moves through level up so haha joke's on me. So I figured training up Exeggcute would be more beneficial (because Koga and Bruno) and managed to get it pretty close to the levels my others are (and surprisingly did very well against all of the E4's last pokémon... as in it was the one to KO them! Thank goodness for Reflect. LOL). I was planning on working on Weepinbell as well but I started grinding using the E4 after a while because I was getting so sick of Graveler and Golbat with low experience yields. And... somehow managed to beat them. haha

I also did what I could to help kind of get my move pool a little more diverse than simply grass and poison type moves. It was a bit difficult picking moves that are accessible pre-Kanto, but I managed to square in on a few good ones, I think. Earthquake on Meganium was a HUGE help.

So now that's under my belt and I can start venturing into the Kanto region. Super excited! I thought I was going to be stuck at the E4 for ages since my grass types don't really have an advantage against any of them. lol

    So here's my team now:

Steel Monotype on Y, Update 3
-After exiting the Cyllage Gym, I went around the town another time, seeing if there was anything interesting at the boutique (bought a new bag).

-Stepped into the cafe thing at the north end of town and sat down at the bar. Waiter/bartender walks up and says "Would you like some juice?", and I'm like, no I'm a grown---wait, I'm playing Pokemon. No booze =(

-After not getting buzzed at the bar, I set off on the next route to continue the journey. Got to the graveyard on Route 10 (that's really what that place is), and like 90% of the way to Geosenge Town, I suddenly realized "oh right I have money now and should buy the Bulldoze TM cuz that'd probably be useful!" and then hauled ass all the fucking way back to Lumiose to get that TM and teach it to Thumper, who really needed a Ground attack.

-Cue hauling ass back to Geosenge Town. Briefly explored the town, including running into Mr. Bonding for the like 4th or 5th time at this point. And like really, what happens during "bonding time" I'm very concerned as to what this man does when the screen goes dark....

-Left town, bumping into Korrina and her pair of Lucarios.

-Entered Reflection Cave....which is a lot longer than I remember it being. Was in there for quite a while, and my Pokemon were slightly worn out by the time we reached the cave exit. The highlight here though was finding and capturing a Ferroseed, which I wasn't sure if I'd have to hunt for one before doing anything else due to the encounter rate and method, giving me the 3rd member of my team. Tried to get as much exp for it as I could in Reflection Cave.

-Rolled into Shalour City, and after checking out all the houses, I made my way to the Tower of Mastery, as the game tells you to do. The camera angle change as you walk up to it is a nice touch. Story events, yadayadayada, then you battle Calem. Ferroseed proved its worth by taking down his entire team, since it has Pin Missile for Meowstic and Absol and resists Frogadier's STAB.

-Of course, getting the Mega Ring and a mega stone can't be that easy. So off I went to the gym to challenge Korrina. Was slightly nervous walking in due to the base type advantage, even though I felt that between Yato's Aerial Ace and secondary Ghost typing, and Thumper's ridic Defense stat, I might be able to muscle through.
.....turned out to be strangely easy, as the AI seemed to have a hard time understanding the type chart, as the trainers and even Korrina kept using Fighting and Normal attacks on Yato, even though that doesn't work. Did they not have any coverage moves at all? Thumper scores the final KO, and I get the badge.

-With the badge in hand, Korrina invites me back into the Tower of Mastery. I ascend the stairs to meet her on the balcony on the top floor. The big moment has finally arrived; she hands me the Mega Ring, and that Lucario finally makes its choice to stand by your side (I always liked this moment a bit). As the final test to see if I'm truly worthy of having the power of Mega Evolution, the Mega Lucario duel begins. And in a wild clash of fists and steel and aura (or rather, just a couple of Power Up Punches), Lucario and I emerge victorious! And fortunately it gets to stay in the party lol since it's a Steel type, and so I gained my 4th party member as well as my team's mega 'mon.

  • I have completed my Soul Silver run for my ultimate grass mono challenge.

After traveling to Kanto I was finally able to work to obtain a couple of leaf stones to evolve my Exeggcute and Weepinbell with. They both quickly became very valuable members of the team. I defeated the Kanto gym leaders with relative ease. Surprisingly even Blaine. lol

Red was, uh... intimidating to say the least.... With all of his pokémon that happen to know blizzard. Shuffled a few moves, upgraded a couple of move sets. Grinded For a bit although my patience wore out fairly quickly. I had to challenge him a few times and use quite a few recovery items to hold on with all those blizzard attacks. For a while I thought I'd have no choice but to grind for another week. But we got there and my pokémon were able to pull through.

He really spammed that full restore on his Pikachu at the end when he was down to only it (and my Meganium + soft sand + earthquake was not his Pikachu's friend). Wound up winning with a critical hit and that is the anti-climactic end to my Soul Silver chapter.

    Spoiler:

    Next up... Hoenn.

Next (big) update of my Pokemon X Rock monotype run

    - Explored Azure Bay and did some good training.
    - Arrived in Coumarine City and beat Serena in front of the gym.
    - Had some trouble with the trainers in the gym but Dwebble ended up evolving in a powerful Crustle and crushed the gym leader Ramos.
    - After that I went through the desert and caught a Graveler on my way through.
    - Needed to beat Team Flare in the Power Plant and save the day.
    - Arrived in Lumiose City and explored it.
    - Made my through the Lumiose gym and beat Clemont easily.
    - Evolved my Graveler into a Golem.
    - Decided to go back to Glittering Cave to find an Old Amber and this time I found it in the first rock I smashed.
    - Revived the fossil and got my Aerodactyl.
    - Grinded a lot to train my Rhyhorn, Aerodactyl and Golem at Route 14 and now my team looks solid.
    - Arrived in Laverre City and explored it.
    - I wanted to evolve Rhyhorn and trained against all the trainers in the gym. But because of his low Special Defense he got smacked a lot.
    - Finally beat the gym and Lunatone proving itself again.
    - Saved the Poke Ball Factory and beat Team Flare.
    - Rhyhorn (finally) evolved into Rhydon.
    - Did a lot of grinding on Route 15 and Route 16 to level up Aerodactyl.
    - Evolved Amaura into Aurorus.
    - Arrived in Dendemille Town.
    - Went back to Cyllage City to get some Heart Scales.
    - Changed some movesets and now training at Frost Cavern.

  • First update for Sapphire on my grass mono run. Smooth sailing so far.

    - Obtained Treecko from Prof. Birch.
    - Caught Lotad
    - Helped Wallace catch his Ralts
    - Beat Roxanne easily
    - Helped Devon Corp and delivered the letter to Steven Stone
    - Grinded a bit for Brawly, Lotad evolved into Lombre, Treecko evolved into Grovyle... beat Brawly easily afterward.
    - Shroomish evolved into Breloom and Wattson wasn't even a match for it.

So far everything is going well. Hoping to keep up the momentum!

  • Grass Mono Sapphire update

Fought Team Aqua... multiple times lol. Defeated Flannery with surprising ease, Norman was also pretty easy to deal with. Caught Cacnea and found the root fossil, revived it into Lileep. Trained them up and they evolved into Cacturne and Cradily, respectfully. Also caught Tropius. Lots of grinding to get myself where I could beat Winona.

Obtained the Blue Sphere at Mt. Pyre. Went through Aqua's headquarters and I have arrived in Mossdeep City. Tate and Liz are already kicking my butt, so back to the grinding board.

I have hauled ass through the beginning of AS and already have a pretty solid developing team with several evolved Pokemon. Funny enough, deciding to choose the female protagonist as I had not used it yet, I ended up naming my character April completely by accident without thinking about the fact that her default name is May...

Steel Monotype on Y, Update 4
-With everything in Shalour City done, I exited the city to the east to keep on going. Calem stops me briefly to give me the Surf HM, which was taught to Lord HM Slave Bibarel to cross the water just beyond the gate.

-Made my way through the route, making use of the Skiddo farm to run around a bit (there's a few items you need the Skiddos for). Why this farm just leaves its gates open and just lets people ride them, idk. What if I like, decided to just run off into the sunset on one of them? What're you gonna do then? After the Skiddo segment, the route branches off into Azure Bay and Coumarine City. Quick went through Azure Bay first, then entered the city.

-Yato (Honedge) also evolved into Alpha Yato (Doublade) during this time. It evolves sooner than I remember.

-Obtained the Fly HM from Sycamore, though I have nothing to Fly on at all right now lol

-Defeated Calem in front of the Gym, then went inside. The gyms in X/Y are actually kinda cool for the most part, even if they're not terribly difficult. Gym was pretty easy since Steel resists Grass and I have Pin Missile and Aerial Ace in my arsenal. Little Ferroseed in particular put in a lot of work. Easily beat Ramos for badge #4, then went down the slide (weeeeeee) to continue on.

-Normally when I do these I update after every badge+the endgame, but since the gap between the 3rd, 4th, and 5th gyms is small (in contrast to the large gap between the 1st and 2nd gyms) I waited until after the 5th badge to post this.

-Exiting Coumarine City brings you into Route 13, the Lumiose Badlands....and the beginning of X/Y's various unsolved mysteries. Moving around this area is slightly annoying due to how well the Pokemon dirt blob things can chase you down (and the winds don't help), and many of the wild 'mons have Arena Trap, but fortunately leading with Alpha Yato made this better since (and I had forgotten about this until partway through) Ghost types are immune to trapping effects. After checking the area for items, I went to the Power Plant like you're supposed to, beating that poor Team Flare Grunt who always has the misfortune of being the first one to have to deal with you, and then picking up the passkey that he so conveniently drops and even more conveniently tells you the rough location of (why??????).

-Enter the power plant (the music vaguely reminds of something btw), being greeted by a grunt who's like "do you really think you can barge in here and take everyone on?" to which I'm like, "fuck yes, this is Pokemon and I'm way better than you anyway". Swept him aside and went further into the plant. Made my way around the central chamber (lol that guy who insists on not moving), swatting grunts away and finally arrived at the center. Beat the admin and the scientist (besides Xerosic I really cannot remember any of the Team Flare scientist's names, I'm not sure why they're in the game really other than the need to have named admin type people), finally letting the plant return to normal functioning.

-Y'know how I mentioned "X/Y's unsolved mysteries" before? It starts here. After you clear Team Flare out, Sina and Dexio, very thinly disguised, show up. But why are they trying to be superheroes? Does Sycamore know anything about this?....Why did they not try harder to disguise themselves? There's then the other Power Plant doors. When you head to the eastern part of the badlands, there's other doors and other plants very similar to the "main" one you go to as part of the storyline.....but you can never go inside, even though it seems like it should be possible somehow. Is it related to Volcanion? Something else? Unless future games explain, we'll never know I guess. Anyway, now that you're allowed to go into Lumiose City, I headed that way, bumping into AZ, who they just like literally drop into the game. I know he's gotta get introduced into the storyline somehow, but like c'mon, even I could do better than that.

-Returned to Lumiose City, running into Shauna again, who forces you to go to Prism Tower to meet Bonnie and Clemont. The game subtlety/not so subtlety telling you to go to the 5th gym now? But instead of doing what the game wants you to do, I set of to do much more important things. What's more important you ask? Fashion of course! I spent a few days basically trying to increase my "style points" to gain access to the Lumiose boutique and unlock additional hairstyles, as well as getting more $$$$ since the Lumiose boutique is hella expensive. Navigating this town is a pain in the ass though, a constant mini-map showing your location would've been sooooooooooo helpful. Had to take the taxi basically everywhere :| Lumiose then contains some of the other unsolved mysteries, like the (in)famous ghost girl, and the strange message scrawled in the train station. Why were any of these things never answered? Will future games ever answer them?

-Battling at Restaurants Le Nah and Le Yeah to get more money gave me probably more exp than I needed at this point in the game lol (everyone was level 40+ when I entered the gym lol), but hey, Ferroseed evolved into Ferrothorn and finally got some Grass STAB.

-Was a bit short on the money needed to get the two clothing pieces I wanted, and was like, fuck it let's go to the gym to get the remaining bit of cash I need. This one was also easy, the Electric types of the gym do not fare well vs Thumper since they can't use their STAB moves and their in-game coverage tends to be mainly shit that's not very effective vs Steel lol. Bulldozed my way through that gym, the question were very easy too, I mean c'mon I've been doing this for like 17-18 years ya gotta give me harder questions than that.

-With the 5th badge now mine, and over 200k in my pocket, I promptly made my way to the boutique to finally purchase the new outfit. Hooray. Now to go to Lysandre's cafe.

  • Finally finished Alpha Sapphire for my Grass run! Holy **** this was probably my least enjoyable run through any game on any of my challenges. Not because the lack of grass types, or alpha sapphire in general, it's not even because I chose to play in a different language than English. I really don't know! Maybe it's a culmination of all three. Or maybe I've just played so much ORAS to the point of complete exhaustion of it.

    But anyway it's done!

Moving back over to my Ghost and Water challenges as I hope to finish both of those before the release of Sun and Moon. Will update as soon as I finish another game :)
