I just nickname them basic things really, like "Pidge" for my Pidgey (so it doesn't sound stupid when they evolve), or if a pokespec manga character has one, i'll name it after that, i.e. Explotaro the Cyndaquil.

If they remind me of something I nickname them as well, i.e. my female Stantler is called Bambi.

I name most pokemon (particularly legends) to be grammatically correct, i.e. Ho-oh instead of HO-OH

Pokemon Nicknames! Help, and Your Favorites!

Ok well, Ive been really bored lately with seeing my pokemons name over and over again. I was wondering if anyone could some up with good nicknames for these pokemon:

Totodile/Croconaw/Feraligatr
Shiny Trapinch/Vibrava/Flygon
Shiny Heracross
Shiny Arcanine

Gastly should be named Gerturde, because Agatha from the R/B/Y had an old lady name so should Gastly... I mean Gertrude.

I always made a point to name my main party, in fact when I first started on Red I picked a Squirtle and named it Kaz. Unfortunately Kaz was lost in the great Crystal disaster of 2002. :( Long may ye rest in peace...

Anyway, my SoulSilver party is below. I tend to call my Pokémon really random names and often have nothing to do with their type or anything. :) I mean, I called my Cyndaquil 'Danny'. Don't ask me why, it just seemed to fit! :P

Nicknames hey? Well I'll go through the nicknames of my current SoulSilver team!

Meganium- Matsuda (Taken from Matsuda from Death Note. I thought the name matched my adorable Chikorita!)

Ninetails- Alex (I didn't plan to evolve him at first, but to get through the Elite four, I decided he had to. I liked Alex because it has an 'x' in it like Vulpix XD)

Dragonite- Lance (Pretty simple really. Lance is a dragon tamer, and Dragonite looks like a Lance.)

Ampharos- Orihime (Taken from Orihime in the anime Bleach. I don't know why, but Mareep reminded me of her.)

Lugia- Light (Taken from Light in the anime Death Note. I don't know why, but it matched him.)

I have a Vaporeon, but she's my only pokémon in the whole game I never gave a nickname to.

I don't know why I pick these names, they just come to me in my head. I'm still waiting for a nickname for my Quagsire to pop up!
