Yep, that works. Volcarona is a bit hard to get due to its very late evolution, but hey, it adds to the challenge.

UPDATE FOR FIRE RED #1:

Choose Squirtle as a starter... just so I could box him.
Caught a lvl 3 pidgey and went to box squirtle.
Went to viridian forest to train Pidgey.
Pidgey evolves at lvl 18 in Viridian Forest!
Hack in lvl 2 Staryu.
Pidgeotto takes out trainer at brocks gym
lvl 6 Staryu takes out brocks Geodude.
Pidgeotto Sand attack spams Onix then takes him out after 15 Gusts.
Defeat team rocket at Mt. Moon
Staryu and Pidgeotto are now lvl 21 coming into Cerulean City
Catch my 3rd Team mate Ekans.
Beat my Rival at Nugget Bridge entrance
Beat Nugget Bridge
Talk to Bill
Next is to take on Misty.

UPDATE FIRE RED #2:

Went on to beat Misty barely
On my way to the 3rd gym Ekans evolves into Arbok!
Teach Arbok dig so he can wipe out the 3rd gym.
Catch HM Slave the Meowth.
Beat Rival in SS Anne and get Cut
Then go to route 2 and get Flash
Teach HM Slave Cut and Flash
Beat 3rd Gym like nothing with Dig
Take a nice long trip through Rock Tunnel.
Make our way through Route 8 and take Underground Path to enter Celadon City.

Beat Team Rocket at the Game Corner hide out
I get my 4th Gym Badge!
Get Eevee!
Evolve Eevee into our 4th Team mate Jolteon!
Beat to Pokemon Tower
Go on to beat Koga the 5th Gym leader!
Go all the way back to our home town to catch our 5th team mate Tangela
While I am over here I go to Cinnabar Island and Get our Old Amber to turn into team mate #6 Areodactyl
Evolve Staryu into Starmie with a water stone I have held onto.
Go and do the Silph Co.
Get our 6th badge
Go and do the Pokemon Mansion
Get our 7th Badge
Go get our 8th Badge!
Beat our Rival in the same spot we faced him earlier in the game ( by the Indigo Plateau)
Now we are standing infront of Victory Road about to start our Journey into the Elite 4!

Started off our journey bye helping out some stranger getting attacked

- Hacked Misdreavus in as Starter, since its the only member of my team i can't obtain in the game
- Beat Rival, left hometown and went to Sandgem
- Learned how to catch Pokemon and got Pokedex
- Arrived in Jubilife City, got Poketch, went to Trainer school
- Headed out towards Oreburgh City, beat many trainers
- Beat the Rival again
- Found Gym Leader in the Mines, caught a Geodude for HM Rock Smash
- First Gym Battle, very exciting, won on my second try :D
- Received First Badge
- Back to Jubilife, beat Team Galactic Grunts, get Old Rod
- Caught Magikarp (yay!), went up north
- Got to Floaroma Town, defeated Team Glactic in the Fields and Windworks
- Made my way through Eterna Forest and got to Eterna
- Got Exp. Share, trained Magikarp until i got Gyarados
- Defeated Gym Leader on first try, got second Badge!!
- Went to Team Galactic Building, beat Mars after 5 tries
