What do you think of all the new Dark types? Did you expect Yveltal to be Dark/Flying? What other moves do you think Yveltal will get?

I have to say, these new Dark-types all look really cool, especially Pangoro and those squids. The two squids, Inkay and Malamar have a type combination I wasn't even expecting, but I'm glad they finally made another unique type combination a reality. While the 4x Bug weakness does suck, they do have very little weaknesses and the concept of turning upside down that they seem to showcase is something worth seeing more of. Pangoro looks pretty strong, and while it looks like Beartic it does have an awesome type combination that is also shared with the Scraggy line.

And I was expecting Yveltal as a Dark/Flying-type, it was actually my first choice for what types it would be. And I'm hoping it does get some great Dark attacks, Oblivion Wing is looking really awesome already so I'm hoping for more potential from this thing. At least we finally have another Dark legendary so Darkrai isn't alone anymore.

Anyway, has anyone ever thought of Dark's relation to Fairy type?(since the maskots are technically these types)

There have been rumors of Fairy being effective against Dark types.
As a member of this group and a Dark-type specialist, what is your stand in this?

I, for one, am furious DX Competitively, no one even uses a pure Dark type or a dual just because of Dark type. If Fairy is added, that gives Dark-types 3 weaknesses along with the ever-dangerous, common Fighting type and Bug type. Dark is only effective with two type: Psychic, the former powerhouse and uber type of Gen 1, and Ghost types, which aren't that dangerous considering their weak defenses. Pokemon like Scrafty are there in the big leagues, but that is only because of it's unique, benificial typing. Further that, there haven't been Dark type moves w/ a permanent base power of 100+. Also, it makes no sense that it does in the first plays. Anyway, this is just me ranting about, but what about you all?

I saw someone present it earlier with evidence, however, I forget the evidence. But, I wouldn't expect Fairy to be super effective against Dark, in fact, if anything, I would think it to be the other way around. Anyways, don't expect it to happen but, if it does, well then ****. Someone did something wrong over at GF.

What do you think of dark type Pokémon?:I think dark type Pokémon are the best of all and are underestimated yet they are the strongest and coolest looking Pokémons.
Partners: Umbreon and Zoroark
What type rules: DARK TYPES AND ONLY DARK TYPES RULE!
Current topic reply: I think that there is a big possibility there would be at least one fairy/dark Pokémon and I picture it looking something like misdreavus even though he isn't dark type. I personally don't think there would be any dark type Pokémon being retyped as fairy dark because most of them have an alternative type like grass/dark and such. Also I can't picture any of the dark type Pokémon fairy type. Sableye, Absol, Spiritomb, and Mightyena should have evolutions in new gen.

It has been a long time since I am here. :(
Not that good. I think Māīka (The squid) is in between for not suitable for the Dark type and suitable for the Dark Type because it looks like a cute and innocent Pokémon (,which is technically dark in some movies...), but when I saw its evolution...it's weird from a cute, innocent Pokémon to a Dark and ..Weird.. Pokémon. Yveltal has some Dark Characteristics, but I just thought maybe Yveltal is either the 4 types (Dark Included) and Flying. Since Yveltal is a Destruction Pokémon, it is somewhat like Darkrai, so its move is like a Dark Sonic Boom like a ray and then explodes.

Who says Dark types can't be cute? Even cute things can be deadly. There are some Pokemon who look cute , like Litwick, but can be deadly and evil. Litwick is known to pretend to be a guide and then "leeches off the life force of any who follow it." But look at it, it's so cute, how could something like that do something so deadly? According to the official Pokemon X and Y site, The transmitters above it's eyes have the ability "to drain the will to fight from other Pokémon. It uses this skill to run and hide when attacked by stronger enemies." To me that really sounds like something a Dark type would do. Making a person's Pokemon helpless. So despite being cute in appearance, it's behavior is very dark-like.

I personally think it's evolution, Malamar is really cool and has more of a Dark the appearance.

Welcome to the club MasterLucario!! I added you to the list though for some reason when I try to click a link on Bulbapedia, it downloads the URL to my computer. So I can't add your partners atm. >.> I will once it's stops being screwy though!

I should answer my own topic:

I was expecting Yveltal to be Dark/Flying cause there were too many signs that hinted it's typing. Oblivion Wings sounds like it's a cool move and as it's signature move, it should be powerful. I do prefer the name Death Wing though cause it sounds cooler. But you know, according to TPCi/Nintendo , death isn't allowed in a children's game. :( As for other moves, I'm thinking it will have some more powerful moves, maybe we will get stronger physical Dark type moves besides Oblivion Wing. I think one move it could get is Punishment, seeing it's the Destruction Pokemon. Night Daze, Dark Pulse and Foul Play are a few other possible moves I see happening. I think we will also get more flying/bird- based Dark moves , which Murkrow, Honchkrow, Vullaby and Mandibuzz will learn too also being Dark/Flying types.

As for the other Pokemon I really like them, especially Pangoro! Out of all the bear Pokemon it's definitely the coolest and most beastly looking one. It's Fighting/Dark so it seems Scraggy and Scrafty has a new friend.

Inkay and Malamar are pretty cool too and they're Dark/Psychic so that really makes me happy. I didn't expect a Dark/Psychic so soon though. Inkay is really cute but as I mentioned, cuteness doesn't mean it's innocent lol.

I'm gonna add the new Dark types to the list of Pokemon BUT you can't have one of the newly revealed ones as a partner. Since we don't know if any more new Dark types will be revealed, it's easier for me to wait to October to allow you guys to have Gen VI Pokemon as your partner. And also we might have the renders overhead/3D models by then too.

Ok new topic, thanks to Mithel! (Decided some parts weren't needed so it' edited. )

Thanks! For adding me into the club I am excited to get to talk about my favorite type. Also I think that it should be the other way around dark be effective against fairy because it would make sense since fairy is kind of like light type or good type while dark type is the opposite that weakens the good

I answered this not long ago before it became the new topic, but, I guess I can answer it a little more in depth now.

Not long ago I saw someone present some actual evidence to this, again though, I unfortunately don't recall the evidence. However, the latest Coro-Coro released a lot of Dark types, and a new batch of Fairys too. I don't know if anyone else has seen this idea around the threads but, it is being speculated that Dark types and Fairy types are going to have a sort of "rivalry". So, it looks like we may be getting a larger amount of Dark types, along with the obvious large amount of Fairy types, if this is the case. To me thought, I think Fairy will be not very effective to Dark, and Dark will be super effective to Fairy. Again, I don't have the logical evidence earlier provided but, I did have a few thoughts on the matter. Fairy is already super effective against Dragons, a power house type that is overly used because of its strength. So, why would it be super effective against Dark types? Who, to all of us, are the best of the best and are at the top of the food chain, and to others, are a hidden power house waiting to be discovered and used to its full potential. Why make Fairy super effective to two power house types? That would OP it, leading to over usage, and then we'd have the problem we have with Dragons that we have now.

To sum up, I think our beloved Dark types are going to be super effective against Fairys, and Fairys will be not very effective against Dark types.

The 6th generation is getting a new type, Fairy. The type has been created to achieve some kind of balance with the Dragon type. The Dark type is getting a boom with this generation as well as the Fairy type. Both types, Dark and Dragon has two weaknesses: Fight and Bug; Dragon and Ice respectively (and Fairy). The strategy can be directed to get a balance with the Dark type as well just because it can be very powerful in this generation, just like the Dragon type. With the release of Yveltal, there is no mystery that we will see more powerful pokes with the Dark type. The Fairy type looks like a "hero" in this strategy keeping these two powerful types behind the line. The second strategy puts the Dark type as a "hero" for the Dragons. The Fairy type will be walling the Dragons, it will have prominence in the generation and can be very powerful. The Dark type could be running an antagonist role to keep in this case the Fairy type behind the line. In my opinion, I see the first strategy with possibilities.

What do you think of Dark-Type Pokemon: They're absolutely one of my favorite types, ever since they were first introduced.
Your partners: Umbreon and Sableye
What Types rule: Dark! And a few others, such as water.
Answer the current topic: I don't think it would be terrible for Fairy to be effective against Dark, as Dark doesn't have too many weaknesses, and adding an extra wouldn't hurt Dark types too badly.

Welcome to the club both of you!!

Yeah I don't see Dark types will be effected too much by Fairy being SF against it. I see use getting alot of powerful Dark types like Austin so some of them may be able to out speed some Fairy types. So far there hasn't been a lot of strong look Fairy types alot of look like they'll have low stats. So I don't see Fairy being much of a problem to Dark types so far.

I don't really mind. I can see the logic behind this. Generally fairies are portrayed as good (such as the likes of Tinkerbell and all the other famous fairies) and very rarely are they seen as villainous. Heroes are like light, which is basically fairies and most stories go along the lines of 'good guy beats up the bad and saves the day etc.'. Dark-types are generally the sinister ones of the Pokemon series and while they're all extremely powerful and have their own good traits, I can see fairies completely overwhelming them. I don't really mind if this is true, since I can see the logic and reasoning behind it. :]

Not going far from the subject but what do you all think a dark fairy type would look like then if they are portrayed as good/light(fairy) and dark? Would it be possible for a fairy and dark type or is it something like water and fire type that don't really mix?

Well Dark/Psychic don't mix well either cause they contradict each other , but we now have two new Dark/Psychic types Inkay and Malamar so I can see a Dark/Fairy being possible.

I can see a Dark/Fairy type being something that was once good but turned evil, like a fallen angel or something.

We could use a new topic so:

Since we know it's a Fightning/Dark type, what Dark type moves do you think Pangoro, Pancham's evolution, will get (either through level up, TM/HM or Egg Moves)?

Well all of the other bear based Pokemon can be taught Hone Claws, Fling and Taunt via TM so I can see that pattern repeating with Pangoro. Ursaring also learns Fake Tears and Faint Attack via leveling-up . I can see Faint Attack being a move either Pancham or Pangoro will learn it too. Ursaring also learns Payback via TM so I also that as well. Looking at it, it seems to have sharp teeth so maybe Crunch too? And I also see Snarl possibly as well. How about you guys?

I'm thinking that Pangoro could get all sorts of moves added to its arsenal. It seems like a rather intimidating Pokemon so I'm imagining Thief, Snatch, Fling and all of those pickpockety sounding dark-type moves. It also looks like it has the potential to be a good user of Taunt actually. It has the looks for the part in my eyes. Other than that there'll definitely be the typical hard-hitting physical Dark-type moves, Foul Play and Crunch without a doubt. Perhaps Sucker Punch? It has those two huge fists, I imagine its gonna get a few punches more than kicks. I can see Snarls and Hone Claws, since all bear-like Pokemon have the move and plus it only makes sense. Snarl could be like something to represent its growl? All in all, it's a very interesting Pokemon that I can see having all sorts of moves. I'm expecting Punishment and Payback to be thrown in there too. :]

I saw on Pokejungle of a new Dark type move that has been speculated, called "Utter Darkness" that is like Earthquake but a Dark-type version of it. I want this move. This and Oblivion Wing would be the best moves ever. Sure, we have some good Dark-type moves now, and nearly all of them do something to stats, but these two moves would deal out a lot of damage.

Pancham and Pangoro will probably have a similar move set to Scraggy and Scrafty with some new additions since, well, its a giant, vicious (and warm-hearted at times), Dark Panda.

Oh wow that moves soudns really cool like really cool. Yeah I imagine a move like that would be the equivelant of Earthquake and if it is, then it would one of the most powerful Dark moves out there.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while!

Anyway yeah, about Yveltal and fairy types. I'm pretty happy Yveltal is a dark/flying. I kinda wished he was a dark/fairy, but thought that was kind of unrealistic, anyway so flying is cool enough.

Fairy being strong to Dark, I'm not so sure, I remember Gardevoir used fairy wind on hydreigon in one of the trailers, and it didn't even ohko. Granted, fairy wind might be a very weak attack, or maybe the trailer isn't accurate. I really hope fairy isn't strong against dark though, dark types don't need another weakness, they're actually quite balanced already. On the other hand, steel types are quite overpowered on the defensive side.

I agree with Austin1395 I'm the move set Pancham and Pangoro might have and that idea of a dark type moving hitting more than one pokemon would be great against horde battles!
