Chapter 1:
Now, as I start the game; there's this creepy dude who asks me personal questions. He asked for my gender which is obviously a boy and my name? RED. Yes. Unoriginal. And he asks for his grandsons name which happens to be DUMMY. After all that intro stuff, I wandered, well went north of Pallet Town and that dude caught me and I followed him to his lab. So I got Mr. Mime as starter and I'm ready to get movin'! Then a battle started. vs Dummy. Defeated with two confusion attacks. Then I grinded. Then Mr. Mime is level 6. Then I healed.

So school has been crazy lately but I got a couple good days in that I forgot to update about. I now have all three of my pokemon @ level 35 in their last stages of evolution. I am in the rock tunnel and made it here suprisingly easy. I thought Lt. Surge would be much harder as electric types are good against all my Pokemon, but it was a sinch.

Carlita was tough to train from the start because she is not blessed with the best move pool. But we made the best of it, and when we found a water stone she was ready to get right down to business and evolve for progress. Not Carlita is a big part of the team, and was a big help in the Lt. Surge fight. Carlita's move pool will be bolstered by tms in the future. Of all the members of my team Carlita is the one most willing to get her hands dirty to help the other members. She will lie, cheat, and steal to get her way. We are working on it, but there is something about her competitive nature that won't go away.

As a pokemon researcher you have to catch and train a pokemon of each type to it's final evolution. Dual types only count for one type, so you have to train 17 different pokemons.
Also none of your given pokemons can know 2 attack moves of the same type. So your Luminion can't have both Surf and Water Gun at the same time but it can have Surf and Rain dance at the same time.
Your Kadabra/Alakazam has to know Miracle Eye. (Because of your eye trick(what that is :\)).

By the way, since I have to trade my pokemon over in eggs they will probably know 2 attack moves with the same type, so do I just refrain from using one move and get rid of it as soon as possible?

Just use them until you get something else. It is hard to avoid when most pokemon only learn STAB moves until level 30-40.
