    Scaled the lighthouse
Went to Cianwood island and beat Chuck
Surfed back to Olivine (for training purposes) and beat Jasmine. Steelix was a toughie!
So effectively i've just played through 3 gyms which have large advantages over Normal types, ghost, fighting, steel.

    My current Normal Team:

    FLYBOY (Pidgeotto)
    lvl32
    gbc017.gif

    -Tackle
    -Fly
    -Gust
    -Quick Attack

    SCREE (Furret)
    lvl32
    gbc162.gif

    -Dig
    -Slam
    -Quick Attack
    -Swift

    TOOTH (Raticate)
    lvl32
    gbc020.gif

    -Pursuit
    -Rock Smash
    -Quick Attack
    -Hyper Fang

    PAW (Ursaring)
    lvl32
    gbc217.gif

    -Strength
    -Faint Attack
    -Lick
    -Rest

Think i may stick with this team for the duration of the game now!

  • Finally Done Kanto, Yeah me!!!!

Pokemon Ultimate Mono Type Grass Challenge Blog Update 3

    Dear Journal,

After going through a broken down mansion, for the key to the gym, I taught Kyro how to use Return in anticipation for my hardest gym battle ever. My confidence grew as one by one Blaine's gym trainers fell. In no time at all I was up against the fire type master of Kanto and possibly the hardest gym battle ever. None of his pokemon except Arcainie gave me any trouble, due to my past experience of fighting fire types. My battle plan for Blaine's strongest fire type was simple; let it waste all of its pp for its only fire type attack, and KO it with Return. I managed to pull it off and got my 8th badge for the region.

My final badge came right after, I managed to beat Giovanni (again) relatively easy, but what did I expect, I had grass types on my side. I then bumped into my rival and his annoying Pidgeot and Charizard, managed to beat him too but it was a lot tougher than I thought it would be. I then pressed onwards to Victory Road were I beat every trainer their and leveled my pokemon to about level 55.

Once that was done I enter the pokemon league, sold all my useless items and bought a whole lot of Full Restores and Revives. I then battled the pokemon league hopping to win it without too much problems. I unfortunately have some trouble when I got to Lance and thus train my pokemon until they reached level 60.

Lorelei – was a pain in the butt to take down due to the fact that all of her pokemon were part ice and they all knew Ice Beam, I eventually won thanks to Kyro's Razor Leaf attack.

Bruno - Parasect's Giga Drain on his two Onix, and Exeggutor cleaned up the rest with its Psychic attack. Easiest Elite Four ever.

Agatha - Caused me a slight bit of trouble but managed to win but using Psychic on every one of her pokemon.

Drake - Annoying but I managed to win anyways. I didn't really have a clear plan in this battle other than to keep my pokemon alive.

Rival - Annoying and long, his Charizard was the hardest pokemon to take down but once it was down the rest of the battle was rather easy.

With the defeat of the Elite four my name and the name of my pokemon were recorded in the hall of fame, were all future champions could see my achievement. I was offered a job as the Champion of Kanto but had to turn it down, for I couldn't rest until I had beaten the Elite four in all of the regions.

I packed my bags and headed of to the next region of interest Johto.

I got on a lot in the last days and defeated Jasmine 5 minutes ago.
    My team now:

    Heracross L.30
    Spr_2g_214.png

    Strength
    Leer
    Horn Attack
    Rock Smash
Strongest member of my team, but lacks a better fightning move than rock smash or focus punch

    Scyther L.30
    Spr_1y_123.png

    Quick attack
    Leer
    Wing Attack
    Pursuit
Cool stats, but with quick attack as its best move, it was pretty hard to train for a long time.

    Beedrill L.30
    Spr_2s_015.png

    Sludge Bomb
    Cut
    Twinneedle
    Fury Attack
Finally got a move with more than 50 power

    Butterfree L.30
    Spr_2s_012.png

    Sleep Powder
    Poison Powder
    Sleep Powder
    Confusion
Would maybe need sth else than all those powder moves

    Ariados L.31
    Spr_2g_168.png

    Poison Sting
    Night Shade
    Leech Life
    Dig
Crappy stats but dig won some hard battles for me.

    Ledian L.30
    Spr_2g_166.png

    Comet Punch
    Saveguard
    Ice Punch
    Thunder Punch
Same thing like Ariados: The stats suck but it has some cool moves.

By the way i recorded all important battles (like ~1000 people before me), so here they are.

    1st Badge: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=ywrveF0oKyk
I'm glad Pidgey didnt have gust too

Team Rocket in Slowpoke Well: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=FUZesnsj3x4
Is this last rocket guy a boss or not?

    2nd Badge: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=r62dBN7Qm8c
    Harden rocks! xD

    Rival 1: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=mU69lfNEy6U

    I hate that Miltank...

    Sudowoodo: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=T3ZP9aVRMzA

    Rival 2: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=7eo3e6WA244
Not as easy as i expected, but not to hard at all

    4th Badge: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=g-kQjeuzrnM

    6th Badge: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=UNlzGqBuL5A
Mostly easy, but Dewgong was hard

    7th Badge: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=tlMGNZIur3c

  • OK so I finished pokemon red with my normal team, the elite four wasn't as big a challenge as I remember from when I was 7 hehe.

Lorelei- She was a minor challenge she took out two of my pokemon before I finished her.... pain in the arse Lapras took me FOREVER to kill with Lax.

Bruno- Well he was remarkably easy to defeat all things considered, all i had to do was swich off from Angel and Trio and he was cake.

Agatha- Also another one that was a lot easier than I had thought.... Well all I needed to do was use Data (and a full restore) and I Annhilated her.

Lance- Hardest of them all, by the time I got here I had run out of pp for most of my pokemons moves.... BUT using both Lax and MARC I made quick work of him.

John (Rival)- Believe it or not Lucky was the reason I won this fight with little difficulty, she outlasted most of the opposition put against her and then using seismic toss made quick work of half his pokemon (the other half I left to Trio).

    MY FINAL RED TEAM

  • An Update!!!

Well, I got myself as far as clearing the Radio Tower of every last Rocket, and now I'm stuck outside of Mahogany, trying to find a Lickitung (I know, I'm doing a Grass runthrough, but it's for a side-quest that will eventually allow me to get a Leaf Stone) but it's taking forever to find one, and it's driving me insane!!!!!

Anyway, here's my updated roster (Save Oddish, who is still at Lv9, with the same moves as before):

    Exeggutor Lv38
    gbc103.gif

    -Confusion
    -Hypnosis
    -Reflect
    -Egg Bomb

    Gloom Lv39
    gbc044.gif

    -Absorb
    -Acid
    -Sleep Powder
    -Moonlight

    Weepinbell Lv39
    gbc070.gif

    -Vine Whip
    -Acid
    -Wrap
    -Sleep Powder

    Meganium Lv39
    gbc154.gif

    -Body Slam
    -Synthesis
    -Reflect
    -Razor Leaf

    Sunflora Lv39
    gbc192.gif

    -Petal Dance
    -Synthesis
    -Mega Drain
    -Sunny Day

Once I get that Lickitung (once again, for the side quest only), I'll be on my way to Blackthorn City, or to sleep, because I'm starting to forget how to type things!!!

PS: Someone was having trouble choosing a type? Rock seems pretty lonely right now, so I'd give it some appreciation.

I've had a lot of trouble with my poison challenge, but I can finally continue.
I am up to Cerulean, Brock was easy after learning Vine Whip for my Ivysaur. I went through Mount Moon, caught a Zubat there, after I got the fossil, which wont be used, I caught me an Ekans.
I proceeded to grind my Pokemon, defeated my rival, and soon will go up Nugget Bridge.

    Pokemon:
    Nidorino, Lv 20
    Nidorina, Lv 18
    Ivysaur Lv 18
    Zubat Lv 18
    Ekans Lv 18

I plan to catch an Oddish after Nugget Bridge.

  • Another update today!!!

I honestly thought I'd be able to finish off Crystal Version today, but I've made it up to Mt. Silver, and I have so much more leveling to do!

    gbc103.gif

    -Psychic
    -Hypnosis
    -Reflect
    -Egg Bomb

    Sunflora Lv49
    gbc192.gif

    -Petal Dance

    gbc182.gif

    gbc154.gif

    gbc045.gif

    -Petal Dance

Maybe tomorrow I'll be finished with Crystal, but for now, I need a break.

Oh, and binks, I'm looking forward to seeing how you play out your runthroughs as Grass type. I've realized through doing this that Grass is probably one of the more underprivileged types in the game, but it definitely has a lot of strong points you can't find in any other type.
