What was the last vacation you took? Did you enjoy it? Are you planning one soon?

Uhhhhhhh.... Christ, it's been so long I can't remember. The last vacation I took was either a trip to Canada or a trip to Massachusetts??? I don't have any immediate plans for a vacation proper other than a few day trips though.

I need to get out more.

  • We went to Disney World in May for my birthday but I got really bad food poisioning a couple of days in so I couldn't do much for the whole trip :(

There's a pretty good chance the credit cards might have to take a hit for a redo attempt at some point but the financial implications are damn scary...

Last vacation I had was a few days stay at a mountains resort where we did a lot of hiking and enjoyed the view! I have two vacations at the end of the year in the lead up to the start of uni, I am going to Melbourne with friends for a week and then heading to the US for 2 weeks with my family to go to NYC, Washington DC and some other cities around Christmas. Am very excited for it. :D

Last year in July. Didnt enjoy it as much as I could (beside the convention I went to) because every day my work would message me about something and it was just a mess tbh. Hopefully, as long as I can get everything in order by then, work will leave me alone this year when I go on vacation.

  • Currently taking one! A very long one. After working in a job I didn't like for over two years with a two hour commute each way, I finally made the decision to quit in April and spend time with my international bf. Since then I've traveled from NYC to Australia and then back here to Cape Town, where he is currently working. Added up, my vacation abroad will be 4-7 months total.

At first I was absolutely terrified to quit since it meant the loss of the bulk of my income (I have another smaller form of income, fortunately) but have absolutely not regretted it. My friends/co-workers that are there seem to dislike it a lot and complain in our WhatsApp group, and even the bosses seem a lot more upset than usual from what I hear. It's not a good place to work and I feel so much freer being away from it all.

Enjoying this vacation a lot. <3 Before that in the last two years, I took one one-week vacation to Montreal & Quebec City in Canada in 2017, another week in some forest cabins in NJ in 2018, and then a two-week vacation to Cape Town in January of this year.

Take it from someone who's lived here their entire life that outside of the relatively calm weather(aka no Hurricanes or Tornadoes(save for rare ones out in the flat valley with our Agriculture), the state is hardly a place you want to move to. High as F&$* cost of living, high taxes and literally garbage and sh*t on city streets from the rampant homeless problem that has been growing for decades(caused by Reagan's decision to close Mental Hospitals back in the 70's but there are other root issues that have exacerbated the problem). There's also Fire Season(which is pretty much 8 months of the year or March to November) and a burgeoning debt that will inevitably lead to one of two outcomes: Bailout by the Feds or going bankrupt. If I had the means, I would get the hell out of here.

  • so me, my mom, sister, and grandmother make a casino trip to tunica, MS every year and i think last year was the last vacation i had. we've been going even since before i was 21 bc food lol plus pool and we dedicate a day to shopping so the fact sister and i couldn't gamble or drink didn't matter. but sister turned 21 last year and the same day, my grandfather died. so we had to put off the trip for a bit and when we went lmfao alright so sister, grandmother, and i were in the hotel room and it's like 1 AM and i see my sister pop up from her bed and she was like "al. let's get pizza" and my grandmother was like "oh that sounds good, if i give y'all the money will y'all go get it?" so we go lmfao and we're going to the 24/7 restaurant in the casino to get the pizza and we pass by mom playing at the craps table and she notices us and we tell her we're getting pizza. we fuckin get our pizza and we come back around and see mom again and she's definitely HAD A FEW and she's talkin to this guy, points at my sister, and goes THAT'S MY BABY!!! SHE JUST TURNED 21 AND MY DAD DIED THE SAME DAY and we lost our shit omfg

so tl;dr last vacation was last year in may lmfao

  • The last one that felt like a real vacation was when boyfriend and I took like a week last August to go to Colorado. We spent a few days in Manitou Springs and then a few days with his aunt and uncle who live somewhat near Boulder (I think it was Longmont?). He wanted to take a vacation while it was still financially feasible, because he's back in college and thus doesn't have that kind of money anymore. It was super fun. Really wish I had the money to do it again.

Technically I went up to Wisconsin for Thanksgiving last year to see my grandma and my aunt/uncles but the older I get, the less that feels like "vacation". It's more like "family social obligation". Not to mention my anxiety is bad and I hate the 10-12 hour car ride now (which is sadly cheaper than flying).

  • My last vacation was fall 2014. My family and I went to Portland, Oregon to visit family for an important occasion and stayed for 4-5 days. Got to go downtown for the night market, went to the mountains, and spend time with my cousins and other relatives.

Don't have any plans for another vacation anytime soon, but would love to travel out of state at least again.

I used to rarely take vacations, but I've been working a lot of hours and going on a lot more vacations with my own money. The last vacation I took was to South Korea for two weeks last August. Other vacations in the past few years were two trips to Japan, and a trip to Cairns.

I've already bought tickets to Fukuoka in October, and I plan on travelling through west to the east of Japan and making my way to Tokyo to meet my friends. I'll be there for 3 weeks. I've also been thinking about another vacation and going down to Melbourne or the Gold Coast for a week in July, but I probably won't do that lol. I guess I've been taking so many vacations recently because I'm seriously bored of Sydney and just want out. Full time work and school has been making life so stale, I'm really hoping to be able to move away from Sydney and live somewhere else.

roadtripped last month. searched for buffalo in the black hills, climbed the grand tetons, hiked Angel's landing at Zion national park (sketchy, do not recommend), kayaked the provo river, dangled my feet over horseshoe bend, it was pretty wild. I'll be in virginia beach in July and hopefully Chicago in September. life is pretty cool 8)

  • If going to Disney with users: Ash and Tsutarja counts as a vacation, then yeah.

Otherwise, I haven't (yet) done anything like travel for vacations or anything like that, unfortunately. .__. One of my long-term goals is to go on a cruise and see what that's like, though.

  • Had a mini-break to Beijing last week and I'm always planning new holiday or long-term travel destinations. So glad I'm leaving my job soon so I won't be bound to just days off for short breaks or only 2/3 weeks holiday time at most.

Beijing was nice. Haven't been in such a long time and I got to catch up with a good friend. The weather was perfect too.

  • I just came back from Las Vegas about a week and a half ago, and had a good time down there. If it wasn't for going to a show down there, I probably would've never gone, and I don't know if I'd ever go back, but it was still a fun experience.

I'd never actually done any real travelling up until 2017 when I spent a few days in Seattle, and then I took a trip to New York last year. Seeing NYC (a little bit of it at least) was what gave me the itch to do more travelling, and I'm already considering going somewhere when I have a couple weeks off in July. I'm also going to keep trying to convince my cousin to go with me to Japan next January, but I know that'd be an expensive trip, so we'll see if that ends up happening.
