Ali Krista
Medic Tent
?
"Ali! you there? "
Jack's crackling voice cut through the air like a knife, awakening a startled Ali. What th-?
"Listen carefully, we're gonna retreat to Hearthome, I repeat, retreat to Hearthome with all the remaining soldiers. Tell Mark and Althalos to blast the little cave that's in the way."
It took Ali a few seconds to take in what his radio had said. He groaned and sank back onto his pillows. The war... Christ. I've had enough.
Pulling at his radio with his left arm, Ali spoke into the transceiver.
"Mark, Althalos. We're retreating to Hearthome. Blast the cave in Coronet and get all the soldiers you can. I'll be along asap. Over."
The light in here is really bright. At least it was comfier than when I was on the dust... Where am I though?
"Oh! General, you're awake! The surgery went as planned, how is your arm feeling?"
The soft voice of a female nurse wafted into the room, and Ali turned his head. A hospital? ... No, a medic tent.
"Surgery?" Ali asked, propping himself up onto his pillows. He looked his right arm. It looked fairly normal, other than the metal cap on the shoulder and the splints reaching towards his elbow. It didn't hurt anymore... nothing did.
"It... it feels fine."
It was heavy, and moving it was a chore. However, he managed to lift it a few inches before allowing it to fall back onto the bed. Damn, that's impressive work. Ali made to stand up, but the nurse firmly pushed him back onto the bed.
"Oh, no. You're not going anywhere just yet. You've just had major surgery, you're not able."
"Look, nurse-"
"Nurse Jennings."
"Nurse Jennings. I appreciate that you are trying to do your job and I really admire the handiwork on this thing, I do. But please, I have a war to help run. I wouldn't leave unless it was absolutely necessary."
"... All right General. But please, don't over do it. You nearly lost an arm there."
Ali's face broke out into a smile. "Thank you, sincerely. I'll take care."
"Here is your medication. It's gonna hurt a lot before it heals, but you know that. Goodbye sir."
"Goodbye, Nurse Jennings." Ali took the medication and put them in his pocket, before getting to his feet. He walked to the entrance of the tent, stretching his arm a little as he went.
Damn, it's stiff. They coulda hooked me up with a BioArm... No matter. It works.
